Workout Log 4-24-17

Even though I usually rest on Monday, I decided I’d go ahead and do my ab workout. I actually really hate ab workouts, so I just wanted it done. I switched to reverse crunches from bicycle kicks. I dunno–I feel nothing when I do bicycle kicks so I don’t have time for them. Reverse crunches, though? Oh, my God! 

Anyway, I’m scatterbrained. I only slept 4 hours with several interruptions as well so don’t expect too much out of this post. I’ve also been on a walk already. Just couldn’t sleep and I live in a safe enough area of town so I went outside. So, it’s just before 9 AM as I type this and I’m at 10,000 steps. Upstairs is noisy so I don’t know if a nap will be possible.

My name is Laura and I’m 20 years old

I’m trying to get back into studyblr-ing as motivation for myself I really hope this works out

About me:

I’m from Germany and now in my 2nd semester at University.
I study Environmental engineering and Korean in my spare time.
At the moment I’m finding University very difficult because I guess the school I went to before wasn’t the best, so I failed my Maths and Chemics exam even though I studied a lot for that. I took 3 exams last semester and I hope I didn’t fail the other one as well :(

With this blog I plan on focusing on studying (obviously😊) but also mental health and such because that’s one thing I tend to struggle with from time to time due to my past.
I’ve gotten bullied for years and also harassed.
For the most part I’m over it, but sometimes it still gets to me (I watched 13 reasons why which made me realize a lot about all of that.
Anyways other than that I’m happy :)

I listen to metalcore and kpop (boy groups and blackpink) and sometimes I also go out. I don’t really enjoy the music there but it’s fun regardless.

I may be asexual (not really sure yet) and panromantic.

Why I’m starting this studyblr:

I wanna make studying more enjoyable for myself and like I previously mentioned also deal with my ‘problems’
I want to do well (better) and at the moment doing well is not something that’s happening.

I’m sometimes shy and may suck at convos, but I’d love to make friends so please say hi!

Workout Log 3-28-17

Woo, we’re back in the gym today! Thank you to everyone who wished me well over the weekend. Today’s probably the first day since Friday where I wasn’t in a prodrome, postdrome, or active stage of a migraine. Also, happy to report I didn’t lose any progress with my lifts this morning. Not bad, not bad at all!

Going to be on my feet a lot today beyond this as well. Not a lot of cleaning got done over the weekend. I told my boyfriend, “If you do one thing for me, please clean the toilet.” FOR MY PEACE OF MIND. And, well. He didn’t. 😂🔫

Anyway–on topic! An upper body workout this morning. Pretty much an exact repeat of last week, but I maintained the higher lifts I achieved. I can dig it.

Workout Log 4-12-17

Oh, man. I need new compression pants. They kept wanting to fall down this morning and it turns out it’s really hard to pull your pants up while running on a treadmill. I have pants that fit and all, but I really, really like running in these.

So, you’ve probably already figured out I did cardio this morning. I’m probably just going to make this a cardio-heavy week because come tomorrow we’re going to be gearing up to leave state anyway and head to my sister’s house for the holiday weekend. Our gym doesn’t participate in Indiana, so I’m just going to be running on the riverwalk by my mom’s house if it’s not too flooded. 

I don’t have anything major to really report this morning. 5 mph pace, 7 mph bursts; yadda, yadda. 

Playlist Picks: Another contender for “it’s catchy, sue me” is Britney Spear’s Toxic. Every time you hear that guitar riff and that string sting it’s “oh, yeah.” Maybe this is a bit too much of a ballad for a workout, but I adore this song which is why I don’t care it’s a moderate tempo. Breaking Benjamin’s Forget It. I feel like they were pretty big when I was still in high school, and I still overall really enjoy the album this was one.

Sweaty, barely lit gym selfie. My hair looks like crap and I actually love that.

Daily Reminder💕

1) Drink AT LEAST a gallon of water throughout the day. Ice cold water is the best.
2) Yoga is amazing both mentally and physically.
3) Reward yourself with music. During your workout, play music you normally don’t listen to then at the end you can reward yourself with your favorite song.
4) Sleep for at least 8 hours each night. Don’t sleep all day!
5) Put effort into your appearance. It’s easier to wear the same hoodie for a week straight with your hair in a 2 day old bun, but wouldn’t you look better in a cardigan and some cute boots?

Workout Log 4-19-17

Woo, boy. Getting back into the swing of things. Noooooo. It sucks, but it must be done. For–sanity?–I kept it simple and low-key, though. I did a very short and basic upper body dumbbell routine for the sake of routine itself. In a few days, I’ll probably feel right at home again.

Playlist Picks: Oh, man. I missed music. I would have used too much data, no devices on WIFI during my trip. It was tough. Google Fi should seriously just let music data not count; I mean I’ve bought enough of their stuff, yeah? Anyway, that was brutal. I’m back this morning with Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Hump de Bump and Modest Mouse’s Fly Trapped in a Jar.

I like to think that every Fitbit recording tells a little story. Notice that huge drop in my heart beats a few minutes in? The story there is my fiance beefed it on the treadmill and busted his elbow open. I had to tend to his boo-boo. See, putting those band-aids in my gym bag made me a genius!

So many adventures & so few pictures.

Just wanted to take a second and apologize for my lack of posts lately. The past few weeks have been hectic between spring break, school work, workouts and traveling I haven’t had much time to blog. I went to some fun shows: jauz, borgore & herobust… and planned even more: ultra, chainsmokers, cash cash, knife party, nghtmre, & lost kings. I got to go home and play with my cat. I pushed myself in the gym and with a new low carb diet. I saw my brother run a marathon. And now I’m SUPER behind on homework.. but that doesn’t even matter because ULTRA IS IN 3 DAYS. Who is excited?!?

Workout Log 3-23-17

Man, I don’t know what it was about today–but, cardio. Status: Slayed. Maybe it’s because I slept like an absolute rock? Maybe I hit some sort of exact sliver of time for ingesting my fruit and water beforehand? I dunno. Could be all the carbohydrates I ate yesterday! Dunno. Column A, Column B. There’s also the chance that I’m just getting better. Oh, gosh. I should just let myself have this victory. Why, yes. I don’t mind if I do! I did it, after all. 

But, I’m comfortably holding a steady 5 mph pace this morning (up from 4.5 mph in previous weeks) and getting my bursts up to 7 mph (up from 6.0 and 6.5 mph in previous weeks) and wasn’t even entering peak heart zone this morning. I was thinking, “Holy crap, I can still breathe?” I did stick a little walk cycle in, but damn. Not bad for a chick who couldn’t jog 30 seconds straight 18 months ago!

Playlist Picks: Rick Jame’s Super Freak,” tell me that bass line doesn’t make you want to dance! I wouldn’t believe you if you said no. And, Nu Shooz’s “I Can’t Wait.” As much as I wanted to bust moves out on the treadmill, that’s how you get permanent brain damage, I gather. 

Now that I’m home I can actually dance to this music!
