music is the only universal language

I’ve promised more drawings, and here is one of them!

This is my new OC – Vikki. (their original name is Victoria, but “Vikki” sounds more neutral, so they prefer it this way)
They are a cheerful nonbinary albino kid from RSA who studies at medical university in Russia. Fellow students and some Russian friends call them “Вика” (”Vika”, short form of “Viktoria” in Russian. Female only name), which Vikki doesn’t love very much.
They love disco music and rave parties, as much as they doen’t like to study. However Vikki is a pretty smart kid, so their grades are usually fine. Not brilliant. But fine.
Despite all language barriers, they are super chatty. Vikki knows English (very well) and Russian (not so well), so they can find their way to chat to new people. When they are super peeved, they mix two languages together, which most people find funny, but their friends know that it’s super bad sign and Vikki is about to freak out.
Also, their face. Vikki looks pretty grumpy most of the time, however they actually are very nice and sweet  (*•̀ ω•́*)

Feel free to ask me about Vikki, I will gladly answer. They are my favorite OC at the moment and I want them to develop into someone beautiful and gorgeous as a character.
Be sure to see more art of them and their friends here!

Saying 1D is better than kpop because it’s in English and that those who listen to kpop are “traitors” because it isn’t in English has got to be the dumbest shit i have ever read on this website. Like if yall only listen to music in English yall missing the fuck out on superb music. Im not even just talking about kpop. French pop is fantastic, German metal is from a whole
other world, spanish rock is great and the messages it sends is amazing, and don’t get me started on bollywood film music because it’s hella good. Do people really limit themselves to one language of music? Music can be universal. And btw just because an artist can’t benefit from the predominant western imperialism of the world, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t talented or just as good as those that do benfit from it.

victoria monét & ariana grande - better days

‘I’m heartbroken by all of the recent tragedies the came as a result of hatred, racism and injustice. I’m also sad at how numb some of us are to it, because it is far too common! This is not a video game or a movie you’re witnessing on your screens! This is our unfortunate REALITY! When I think about how I feel, the word confused comes to mind…So today we just want to try and help in one of the ways we know how! “Music is a universal language that all of us can feel regardless of color lines, gender, sexuality, age, race, religion…. it unifies us. We believe we can not fight hate with hate, only love. Just as we can not fight darkness with more darkness. Only Light.” #BlackLivesMatter

To all of the lives taken pointlessly, we will not let you be forgotten. You have sparked change in this world with your angel wings. Rest In Peace. Stay strong and know that better days are coming…

love, Victoria + Ariana’

Ratchet and Clank universe aesthetic:

~ infinite numbers of languages + cultures to discover and learn about
~ countries being at war with other countries across the galaxy
~ the diversity in media
~ bands doing universe wide tours that take years to complete, releasing new music on the go
~ long distance relationships + being separated by galaxies
~ school trips around the solar system
~ going to university three galaxies over but promising to come home on weekends anyway
~ lessons on the humans who killed themselves off but dreamed of the stars and could only begin to imagine what was out there

Someone is singing, but as you look around, you can’t tell who it is. No one’s mouth is moving. You recognize these faces, but not this ethereal voice singing in a language you cannot place. You hear only conversation from the people around you, but the singing continues.

You regard this as normal and carry on with your day.

Any artist who does not occupy the supposedly ‘universal’ personhood of a heterosexual white man is confronted with an intractable paradox. Creative work borne out of subjective experience will condemn you to your own 'marginal’ identity, yet any attempt to reach for a common language will necessarily fall short. You will never be universal. Adjectival modifiers will permanently shadow you: female singer, gay poet, black painter. For women, exclusion from civic society over a period of centuries brings with it a cruel circumscription in the practice of any art form. You wish to document your interior life, the only sphere offered you? Good, for that is all that is expected. 'Women can’t write about music because they can only write about themselves,’ I was once scolded, and the judgement dogs me even though I know how ridiculously sexist it is. Don’t be self-indulgent. Don’t talk about your boring girl stuff.

Those who speak from a marginal subject position know, through bitter experience, that truth is not a straightforward category. Your own 'truth’ will be questioned or dismissed, especially if you speak of the violence that keeps you marginalized; on the other hand, the 'truth’ presented to you by mainstream cultural narratives is, demonstrably, a lie. The pressure is on: speak the truth of your life for the good of others like you, but know that it can never be true.

Im so delighted that Sour Cream started slipped into his step-dad’s language when he was mad. =w=

And then blushed cause he was embarrassed about it but he’s probably only used to talking in that language when he’s arguing about music and really I’m just so happy Sour Cream is making up with his step-dad <3

Consider now:

>Peridot pairing characters, writing fanfiction, drawing fanart

>Peridot discovering different musical genres, first from America, then the rest of the world

>Peridot being in a love/hate relationship with human technology (this garbage is so old, holy clods Steven this “Smartphone” thing looks amazing!)

>Peridot acting like a 12 yo while playing videogames online

>Peridot discovers democracy and it’s an entire revelation to her because she was used to have only one set of leaders

>Peridot learns that humans speak more than one language, have more than one culture, and are loyal to different “empires”

The human brain contains over 100 billion neurons, making it the most complex structure in the known universe. This is the most evolved moment yet, and we are here to experience it. In an unbelievably short period of time, our species has completely transformed the face of the Earth. Life began around 3.5 billion years ago, and life remained largely single-celled for close to 3 billion years. Dinosaurs roamed the planet for over 180 million years, while homo sapiens, the species to which we belong to, have only been around for about 100 thousand years. In the short time humans have existed, we have gone to the moon, explored the depths of the oceans, formed languages, lit up the world with electricity, developed wireless networks that connect every continent, and created music, art, books and everything else we have come to accept as reality. It seems as though our state of consciousness is more powerful than most people realize. We each have unimaginable power inside of us. If you study the history of the universe, it becomes clear that the complexity increases with every passing moment. Confusion is inevitable, as we are still the same animals who roamed the plains thousands of years ago. But it seems like this transcendental process of waking up is becoming more and more pronounced in everyone’s lives as the sense of unity becomes apart of our reality. I have a strong feeling that we are somehow headed for the stars, to a higher, unspeakable state of existence. I don’t know what the future holds, but I think it’s important to remember who we are, limitless sources of conscious energy. This universe is too mysterious to fully comprehend, but I am sure it is magical beyond belief. Fill yourself with light and trust that everything is as it should be. And remember that love is the most powerful form of creation so keep it in your heart, always. - instagram @tymurf
