Using Trataka (Candle Gazing) For Inner Cleansing & Meditation
In yoga, the practice of trataka or “yogic gazing” is used as a meditative form and inner cleansing. The twofold practice begins in a meditative seat position (legs crossed in “easy pose” for example) with the eyes fixated on a single object. Placement of the chosen object is key. It is always positioned about arm’s length away and about the same height as the center of the eyebrows so that trataka practice does not create any tension in the neck.
