Lisa-la-honte. 1925. Gaston Girbal.

“The Scandalous Lisa” is the name of this musical in three acts, and its poster rather marvelously has the louche Lisa blowing smoke into the shapes of two figures: a homely housewife-looking figure and a showgirl with headdress. She croons, with a glass of vin de table at hand, before a motley crowd of the rich, middle and working-classes. Much of the music-hall history of Paris from the 1920s to the 1950s can be documented in the posters of Girbal.
