The truth is, I was expecting MTG players, much like Gamers and other 'Nerds' to have become a closed-off group promoting different forms of bigotry. In that sense, what I've seen from the community, and what you're showing here is radically different from that notion and it makes me proud to be a part of this. (And Mr Rosewater going out of his way to cast LGBT and going all happy when his ethnical/cultural representation hits the spot really does help a lot).
Coming from a place where I was like that, and knowing people still who are like that, I’m really glad that the community can step above that. Even in it’s small way. And above that, I’m just trying to be the best ally I can. Sometimes I worry I’m falling back into those bad stereotypes, but I know that in keeping ahead of that, I’ll be okay.
I think at the end of the day, having the patience to listen to those who need help, and having the patience to work through shitty people and explain things to them. That is what makes the world of difference.
