I both hate and love when a tv show can elicit a strong emotional response from me because if I’m crying for these characters, you know the writers did something right and I love them, but at the same time, I’m crying over something that was just words on paper at one point and I can’t handle it and am sitting there like a crazy person with tears running down my face so I hate it.. Like I came out here to have a good time and am honestly feeling so attacked right now.
I feel like I should direct all the disappointed Sherlockians, who are sad because of the lack of queer representation, to Murdoch Mysteries.
Reasons I love it:
Very accurate description of the 1890’s
Murdoch (played by Yannic Bisson) is HOT ASF
Destroying gender roles
Strong female lead characters
Lesbian women’s rights activist character
Gay police officer (is in every episode, isn’t confirmed but hinted 1000 times)
Head of the police is also gay (later jailed for it :c)
SO. MUCH. REPRESENTATION.
Adorable relationship of smart male lead and smart women’s rights activist doctor female lead
Okay I would say many more but if this doesn’t motivate you idk what will
I FUCKING LOVE THAT SHOW AND I’VE SEEN EVERY SEASON AT LEAST 3 TIMES
It has 10 seasons atm, 11th in the making.
Season 1 starts off pretty dull, but it gets spicy after a few episodes and by season 10 it’s just PERFECT.
