Music Series: Ditmas by Mumford & Sons

I like for my stories to be as believable and relatable as possible. I think, at least for fan fiction that engages the reader, it makes it a more enjoyable read. Thats why I really hate AU’s. I want the real thing, or at least my version of it. I like to keep Harry as close to what our view of him is as I can. He’s a real person. He’s not a fictional character. So I always try to be respectful in my writing, hoping I never offend him should I be blessed by him reading it.

All of that being said, not all song lyrics easily fit into this context of relatable or believable, requiring me to either put a twist into it to make it work, take it less literal than the lyrics convey, or by context not lyrics, or regretfully not write the request at all.

I like this song and I like the group who sings it, but wow, the story sure isn’t coming easily to me. Going to try my best, so I hope you all approve. Sometimes those stories end up being the best ones. Another I’ve written and rewritten a few times until I was content with it, so I apologize that it’s taken so long. This interpretation is not exactly as I feel the singers intended, but for the purpose of this imagine, I hope it makes sense to you.

This is “Ditmas” by Mumford & Sons. You can hear it HERE on Spotify.

Just a note…some Spotify links I post are to the song only, while others are to the song via one of my playlists, linking you to my account, which is @charligirlmusic. If it links only to the song, that means I’ve not added it to a playlist, so to find me, you’ll need to search.

Thanks to those who follow me there and here! Much love to you all! xo

Hello world!

Nice to see all the potential new friends who have shown their interest in talking with an awkward dork like myself. I don’t know what to say except I am very awkward when it comes to initial conversation, so if you do choose to talk to me, please be patient with my rambling. I’d love to talk with people from all over the world.

I have an interest in learning about almost everything, so if you have obscure facts to divulge I implore you to share your diverse knowledge with me. I warn you though I will probably ask for sources to back it up.

I love to draw and do everything under my pen name Sara, but when I get to know you better, I will most likely get to a point where I’ll tell you my real name.

I love music, cartoons, anime, movies, broadway, and art. The diversity of what I like really ranges. I listen to anything from Beethoven to Rammstein. Some personal favorites are Dropkick Murphy, Disney movie soundtracks, Pentatonix, Mumford & Sons, P!nk, and Ed Sheeran. I watch Steven Universe, Star Vs the Forces of Evil, Samurai Jack, and Archer among others. I love Disney and Pixar films. Deadpool is a masterpiece, but my all time favorite movie is Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Listing the anime I watch will take too long, and I have to have something to talk about when you (possibly) contact me. For the prospect of art, I hope to be trading art of any kind with you one day.

Bad/corny jokes and funny pictures are a great way to push a conversation if you want a way to talk to me. Animal pictures work too. They’ll definitely start some small talk. If you want to be serious, I’m cool with that too, but I’m occasionally oblivious so be blunt/obvious would make it easier on both of us. I’ve found some cool people to talk to on here already, so I thought it would be cool to see who would find me interesting.

English is my primary language but I’m trying to learn German, Italian, and ASL from different sources online and Duolingo. I am not fluent but if you feel more comfortable talking in your native language and still want to talk to me, I’ll try my best-but I’ll probably need a little help from you.

I can’t wait to meet you! Y'all have a lovely day!

Preferences: As one of my favorite college professors said, DBAD (Don’t Be A Dick) and we’ll get along just fine. If I offend you, I am sorry, please tell me, and I’ll extend the same courtesy. Please tell me your pronouns and what you want me to call you when you start the conversation. ~Also please be patient with me, I’m not the most confident. I prefer talking over Tumblr, as I don’t check my email as much as I should. We can eventually graduate to snail mail when both of us are ready for it though. Any and everyone is welcome!

Thanks @mapleonmyburger for tagging me!! Sorry it took me a while

Random Mumford and Sons Fact #92835: The Gentlemen of the Road documentary series was released in December 2010 as part of the Sigh No More Deluxe Edition. If you listen closely you can hear various pieces from the future album Babel (2012) both lyrically and instrumentally. Plus, if you haven’t watched this or rewatched it in a while, you are sorely missing out!

Catch Whispers in the Dark in part 1 at 2:06, To Darkness, which would later become Broken Crown in part 2 at 2:17, Below My Feet in part 4 at :30, and Holland Road in part 5 at 4:29. Plus a ton more. See if you can spot them all here

PS: If you have been a long time fan and are overemotional (hi! me!) prepare for the feels and get some tissues

Sigh No More

Author’s Note: Hey guys! So this is a new series based on the Mumford & Sons album Sigh No More. Each song is going to have to do with a different vignette in the life of Bucky Barnes. They’ll be released in installments and this is the first! Something in the Way is also getting done, I promise. My only problem is that I’ve been on such a Marvel kick lately, though I know my Twilight muse shall return. Thanks! Love!

“Here, I made you something,” she said, her eyes sparkling and her grin infectious, “Steve told me about your nightmares and, well, this album really helps me to calm down whenever I get scared.”

Bucky looked down at the silver disc, unsure of how to respond. Has Y/N been thinking about me? he thought, his heart breaking as he considered someone so joyful wasting her time on someone as broken as him. While he considered how to respond, Tony waltzed over, insisting he needed her for some unknown reason. Bucky clenched his teeth as he noticed Tony’s hand ghosting over her waist, a place he’d often imagined the feel of. If only I had the courage…, he mused, fantasizing about pulling her close, I’m being ridiculous, he concluded abruptly, she deserves so much more than me.

Track One:

“Love, it will not betray you, dismay or enslave you/It will set you free/Be more like the man you were made to be/There is a design/An alignment to cry/Of my heart to see/The beauty of love as it was made to be.”

He saw her running toward them as the helicopter landed on top of Stark tower. The wind whipped her hair around her face and she huddled into herself against the fierce midnight chill. The mission had gone terribly, with wounded agents aplenty and a fresh gash marring the skin of Bucky’s right cheek. As many of his colleagues were rolled away on gurneys, he watched her search frantically, head whipping from side to side until her e/c eyes settled on him.

Suddenly she was sprinting toward him, launching herself into his arms. Her hot tears fell onto his exposed shoulder as she stuttered out proclamations of fear at the possibility of his death.

At first, Bucky couldn’t react. His arms stayed by his sides as she clung to him, anxiety bubbling in his throat at the thought of squeezing her too hard, hearing her cry out as he unwittingly crushed her. Finally, he willed his stiff muscles to work, and his right arm enveloped her, his hand circling the soft curve of her hip. She pulled away, her body still within his grasp as she examined the bleeding wound on his face. Fresh tears sprung forth and her eyes spoke the feelings her clenched throat couldn’t articulate: fear, sadness, relief, and another emotion he couldn’t quite place.

“I was so scared you wouldn’t come back,” she whispered close to his ear, wrapping her arms around his neck, “I don’t know what I’d do if you…didn’t make it.”

Long dormant emotions welled up in his chest, suffocating any fear left from the failed mission. Unconsciously, he noticed his metal arm snaking his way around her waist, pulling her close. He buried his face in her hair, inhaling the familiar scent of lavender and honey that seemed to follow her everywhere.

“I’m here, don’t worry,” he muttered, his voice raspy from lack of use, “I’m not going anywhere.”

She sighed shakily into his shoulder and it struck him how long it had been since he’d been the speaker of comforting words and not the one in need. She began to shiver in his arms as the moon peaked out from behind the gathering clouds.

“Come on,” he said, untangling her from his hold, “let’s get you inside.”

As he walked her toward the entrance of the building, he noticed her eyes rarely leaving his and he let his hand casually cup her waist, ever so gently.

anonymous asked:

hi im on anon because i'm american trash and it's embarrassing. i'm reading all your harry potter reread recaps (marry me) and i have to ask about this phrase. "it was pants." tell me about this. is this slang from the uk. please define this for me immediately. I MUST KNOW ABOUT THE IDIOMIC ETYMOLOGY OF "IT WAS PANTS." THIS IS THE BEST CLAUSE I'VE EVER HEARD. I GOOGLED IT BUT I WANT YOU TO TELL ME ANYWAY.

allow me to illuminate “pants” for you.

to call something “pants” is to call it a bit crap. rubbish, really. “eh.” it’s such a great put-down because it’s so indifferent; no, you didn’t like it, but no, it wasn’t the worst thing in the world, either. it was just pants. you watched a movie, it was alright, you wouldn’t watch it again and you kinda drifted off in the middle but not enough to actually walk out of the theatre? it was a bit pants. you went to an exhibit and you weren’t at all moved and didn’t really understand the sculptures and the couple of pieces that were good weren’t that good and really you just wanted to head to the gift shop? it was pants. pants is the ultimate “I really don’t care enough about this to have any strong negative emotions” insult. it’s the “so. that was performance art. wanna go for food?” and the “that was definitely… a movie.”

it probably has something to do with the fact that us Britons refer to underpants as “pants” (and call trousers “trousers” like the Lord intended). do you have any particularly strong emotions regarding your pants? exactly.

Sherlolly-Reminder (Series Three) by Andy Dufrense

band series: mumford & sons

Mumford & Sons were formed in December 2007 by multi-instrumentalists Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane. Band members play guitar, drums, keyboard instruments, bass guitar, and traditional folk instruments such as banjo, mandolin, and resonator guitar. The band name originates from the fact that Marcus Mumford was the most visible member, organising the band and their performances. Lovett indicated that the name was meant to invoke the sense of an “antiquated family business name." Much of Mumford & Sons’ lyrical content has a strong literary influence, taking lines and inspiration from works of Shakespeare, from the Odyssey, The Knight of the Lion, the Bible, and various John Steinbeck novels.
