Request: Hi! Could you do a oneshot or multi chapter where reader is Tony’s daughter & Avenger who falls in love w/ Loki. They have a Joker/Harley type relationship (minus the abuse) & even tho she loves her dad & team, she becomes a villain for loki. Thanks!

Summary: Stark is the name I was born into. Being Tony Stark’s kid meant a lot of things, namely everyone looking to you and protecting you. I’m not some princess needing to be protected. That’s what I’ve told myself anyway. When Loki appears, I feel ready to worship a king.

Starts during the Avengers movie then I kinda write my own thing.

Triggers Throughout The Series: Angst. Drama. Violence. Smut. Romance.

Triggers In This Chapter: Loki being a shit.

Word Count: 1034

Enjoy ;D

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.

I glanced over at my alarm clock, watching the second hand tick away. Pepper had gone off to some meeting after dad had left for whatever it was Mr. Coulson–No. Agent Coulson–had dropped by. Something called the “Avengers Initiative” that was supposed to be top secret. My eyes slowly dragged to my ceiling, showing a display of constellations.

With a sigh, I got up. Twenty-years-old and living with my dad. Lame. Of course, being Tony Stark’s daughter, it was easier to live in the tower, considering his Iron Man Mantle. Honestly, it just sounded like one more thing for the world to praise my dad for. Me? I’m still trying to figure out why the hell I’m in school. I’m not like Tony Stark. In fact, hardly anyone even knows my name. I’m just “Tony Stark’s daughter” and “Miss Stark” to the rest of the world.

There was a loud bang on the rooftop, making me flinch. I ducked over the side of my bed, reaching under to grab my baseball bat from it. It wasn’t much for defense, mostly a comfort. I looked around as the alarms went off, quickly silenced until the power went out. I took a deep breath, gulping anxiously as the back-up lights kicked on.

I ran the plan that dad had given me. Get to the lab. Get to the lab and turn on the…the…what the hell was I supposed to turn on?!

I sighed, closing my eyes and collecting myself. I needed to calm down. I needed to focus. Panicking would get me killed.

Hello! It’s #optomstudies here again with another Sunday Study Tip on university life! This will be a multi-part series that hopefully will give a unique insight, since I can go on and on about university, and I love giving advice and helping others :)

PART 0: CHOOSING A DEGREE

Here I’ve put together a list of 20 things that you might not be told outright when choosing your university degree. @exeron

General Starting Tips During High School

  • It doesn’t matter what subjects you do in senior year, so don’t worry about bonus points, as long as you get a high enough ATAR so that you can keep your options open. Play to your strengths.
  • But! On the other hand, don’t take history and visual arts for your HSC and expect to be at the same level as your peers when you take a B Science (Advanced Mathematics) degree. You need that calculus knowledge. (Most of the time this isn’t a problem, because most people will choose a degree that aligns with their interests in high school). Again, play to your strengths.
  • Keep on top of your extra-curricular activities in case you need to go for an interview like with medicine.
  • Some degrees like optometry, medicine, law, etc. require additional exams like UMAT, so find out early, pay for the tests and mark it down on your calendar so that you don’t forget.
    • Up to you whether you want to pay extra for coaching, but anecdotally, I didn’t do any coaching and did fine. I had many friends who did coaching and ended up doing poorly.
  • Choose a good university. Promise it actually counts at the end of the day. There are cases of people getting employed with low credit averages at big companies because they go to a good university.

Decide What Kind of Career You Want

  • Most importantly, it’s best if you pick your degree based on the job you want upon graduation. What you study at uni is just a means to an end. It’s a business decision that you are making - trading a few years to get a better career and better income at the end of the day.
  • Consider practical aspects of the job you want. For example, some of the things that I like about optometry is the fact that you aren’t sitting down the whole day, it’s a job that’s great for locum-ing and part-time work if I have kids in the future, and it makes for a good conversation starter when people ask you about optometric myths (no, looking at green grass does not help your eyes, nor do eating carrots, and having a nightlight doesn’t make you more short-sighted). These are all things that aren’t written down on a piece of paper somewhere, but are things that you can figure out by thinking about the everyday facets of the job itself.
  • Figure out your career values. These are things that you don’t want to compromise on due to personal integrity, as opposed to areas of interest. Some examples are:
    • Autonomy and independence
    • Achievement and advancement prospects
    • Creativity
    • Security
    • Altruism
    • Prestige, status and respect
    • Risk-taking and excitement
    • Material benefits a.k.a. $$$
    • Power
    • Team membership
    • Variety
    • Learning
    • Structure and organisation
    • Problem Solving
    • Leadership
    • Work-Life Balance
  • Don’t “follow your passion”, just “get good”. A lot of people also tell you that you should “follow your passion”, but most of the time you have limited experience concerning the types of occupations in the world, and most of the time there isn’t anything that you’ve developed a strong passion for. You might have a bunch of interests like me; when I was in high school, I enjoyed every single subject, because I just enjoyed learning in general, so the only thing I could think of was literally to become a full time uni student. This video really sums everything up quite well, so I’ll quote from it.

When you work hard at something you become good at it.
When you become good at something you enjoy doing it more.
When you enjoy doing something, there is a good chance you will become passionate about it.

Start By Choosing a Good University and Faculty

  • Choose a Commonwealth-supported university. Don’t saddle yourself with excess debt from a private university unless your grades were so bad that you needed to pay money for a university degree. If you have the choice, don’t opt for these.
  • Go to open days! I seriously think I wouldn’t have chosen optometry if I didn’t go to the UNSW Open Day. The guy was just really persuasive about the benefits of the career.
  • Ask graduates! If you’ve got a retail job and have the opportunity to chat with people about their jobs, see what they like about their job and how they got there.
  • Opt to specialise. For example, if you are aiming to be a financial data scientist, then go for a B Economics and major in econometrics. Sounds simple, but people always argue about choosing a general degree like Commerce so that you have a broader choice and keep your doors open. This is only good if you don’t have an end goal in sight. Specialising shows employers that you have direction and are driven.
  • However, if you have absolutely no idea what you want to study then at least choose a faculty that you find palatable, try and do your research, or take some core courses that allow you to discern your major. If all else fails, just get the UAC book of degrees and cross out what you don’t want to do LOL

After Starting the Degree

  • If you start a degree and you find the first semester or two isn’t what you were imagining, unfortunately that’s what happens to a lot of people. Uni isn’t a vocational school that jumps straight into the professional skills. So if you want to be a pediatrician who nurses cute children to health at the end of the day, sorry but you’ll have to start with basic sciences. I’ve seen a lot of people jump ship just cause they didn’t like the first few courses.
  • Go for Honours if your degree has the option. Just looks a lot better in the eyes of an employer that you’ve tried challenging yourself with a research honours project. A 1 year trade off in studying is worth it.
  • Don’t worry about the length of the degree. Three years will be over before you know it, trust me! And honestly, university is actually a really great time period. Many of my older cousins reflect on it and say that in a way, it was some of the best times of their lives, because you don’t have the responsibility of the household bills and full time work just yet.
  • Don’t be afraid to change your degree after the first year. Some microeconomics - it’s a sunk cost.

Don’t think: “Oh I’ve already spent this much time studying this degree, it will be a waste if I change degrees”.
Think: “if I spend any more time in this degree that I don’t actually want to study, then I’ll be wasting my future”.

  • You aren’t “wasting” your ATAR by choosing a degree that has a much lower cut-off point. For example, if you wanted to shape the future of children by becoming a teacher, you aren’t “wasting” your 98 ATAR by going into teaching, even if the cut-off is 81.
  • Don’t let other people influence your options. Look, if you’re going to change your uni choice just because someone you don’t like is going there… you’ll barely see anyone except for the people in the same degree as you after 1st year is over. Likewise, parents give advice, they don’tshouldn’t mandate life choices like what you study.

Good luck with your university applications. Hope you all get into the degree that you’re hoping for! Hit me up if you have any questions :)

The Women of Borgen

Elna Munch, Helga Larsen, Karen Ankersted, Mathilde Malling Hauschultz. I hope we all know these names. These are four women who were the first of their gender to gain a seat in Parliament in 1918, and thus ended the Parliament debate about whether women are cut out to be politicians. To all those who wish to debate whether women should enter politics on equal terms with men and ultimately make Prime Minister, I can only say: You’re 100 years behind. So many insignificant topics have been discussed. Did any of you really believe I intended to resign and become a housewife? You must not know me at all then. I very much want to end all these foolish discussions. Today, the last part of the government reform package was passed. We’ve shown you where we want to take Denmark. I’m very pleased and proud of that. That’s why I’m going to let the Danish voters decide. Not what gender the Prime Minster should be, but whom they feel is the best Prime Minister for Denmark.

As much as I love the HP movies, I often find myself disappointed by how many things were left out of the books - especially the extra-long books like “Goblet” and “Order” - in order to condense them to movie-length. I sometimes wonder if a “Game of Thrones”-style multi-season series would have been a better adaptation. That said, I wouldn’t change anything about the cast.

The Falcon and the Wolf

My tags are open so send me a message or an ask if you’d like to be added!

A single candle burns in the small room.  You’re lying on a bed of rabbit furs which tickle your naked skin.  Dean is on his side looking down at you with his emerald green eyes.  Your shadows dance on the wall beside the bed as he lowers his head touching his lips to yours.  You slip your hand up his neck running your fingers through his hair as your kiss deepens.  His fingers trace lines down your naked form leaving a trail of fire as they go.  Taking one breast in his mouth he caresses the other with his strong hand as he swirls his tongue around your hardened bud making you moan his name.  He moves over your body, taking his time exploring every part of you; dropping a kiss here, licking a spot there, until at last he reaches your throbbing bundle.  You whine as he feathers over your folds ignoring your swollen bud.

“Impatient,” he whispers in your ear.  “We’ll get there, Y/N.”

“Well, look who’s come crawling back. I knew there’s a reason for that call.”

Kuroo looks down at him from his porch step all sly grins and mischievous eyes but Kei knows him. He knows he’s been eyeing his left side the moment he was within sight.

“I’m just here for a—“

“For a visit? Yeah, right. You’d sooner sign yourself for the frontlines than come back here.” Kuroo turns his back to him, beckons him with his head to follow him to his workshop and home. “Come on. Let’s see your damage.”

With a resigned sigh and careful not to jostle his left side, Kei follows him inside. He takes his boots off by the threshold and dumps his bag by the door. The place looks like as it did the last time he was here – minimalist and very neat. He walks across the den and down to a hallway leading to Kuroo’s workshop carefully clutching his side.

Kuroo is seated by his work desk as he beckons him over. He smirks at him lazily and crooks his finger in a come hither gesture. Tsukishima eyes him warily as he forces himself to come closer.

“Look, it’s nothing big or anything. Just a quick check-up. I scratched it up when there was a skirmish in Central. I just need you to tighten a few loose screws.”

“Ah, save it.” Kuroo flicks at his cigarette and puts it down on a make shift ashtray of petri dish. “You wouldn’t come all the way back here if you just need to ‘tighten a few loose screws.’ Careful, Tsukki. I might think you miss me.”

“Shut up. Don’t call me that.”

“Now let’s see the real damage.”

Kei takes a deep sigh before unfastening his cape and finally laying his completely and utterly annihilated arm on Kuroo’s work desk. He mentally counted to the seconds before Kuroo’s outburst.

Oh, did you hear? Apparently Game of Thrones has officially supplanted the books. They no longer matter. And since the show is the real canon now, GRRM shouldn't even bother finishing Winds of Winter. (Source: wired. com/ 2017/05/ george-r-r-martin-game-of-thrones-books/)

Link without spaces: https://www.wired.com/2017/05/george-r-r-martin-game-of-thrones-books/

This is probably the single worst thing I’ve ever read.

“The Song of Ice and Fire is not the Westerosi enchiridion any more. Martin’s story, the world he built, lives on TV. And now that HBO is cooking up spinoff showsbased on the original, it’s official: The TV universe has eclipsed the books and become the Game of Thrones canon.“

The canon of the TV show is NOT the canon of the books. Just…what? It can’t be! Shit that happens in the show is like, the direct opposite of the books in most cases, and the themes/takeaways could not be further apart.

Just…wow, what a hot take, dude. Reads like someone who feels pretty smart for having read the books, yet apparently missed everything about what makes a narrative a narrative. The Checklist Effect permeates fandom?

“And for those worried Martin won’t have control of his creation at all, fret not. He’s reportedly involved in not one, but two of the proposed writing teams for the spinoff shows HBO is considering. There’s no telling which programs will ever make it to the small screen, but it’s practically a given that he’ll be on board. That means it’s also almost certain the completion of the Song of Ice and Fire series will be delayed even further. But if Martin never finishes the last book, and instead the story of the winter in Westeros is wrapped up in a series of multi-million-dollar, special-effects-laden episodes of TV? Well, there are worse fates.”

This is just. It’s impossible. GoT cannot write an ending to ASOIAF because it is not the same story. At all. It’s profiting off of Martin’s creative work, and sure maybe there can be series set in Weisseroff where ~~anything can happen~~, but the conflation is just sheer idiocy or willful ignorance at this point.

Hello, it’s #optomstudies here again with another Sunday Study Tip on university life! Although it’s been a while, this will be a multi-part series that hopefully will give a unique insight, since I can go on and on about university :)

PART 3: STUDY

I wish I had known that there’s a lot more work that you can binge in university. It is super easy to fall into the trap of leaving everything to the last minute. Revise regularly and finish all your recommended reading. The workload is a lot more than I ever faced in my final year of high school, and somehow I did get used to doing more in a shorter period of time.

Keep up with your tutorial homework. Especially for subjects for maths, I can’t stress this enough, especially since this was the one of the causes of my subpar grades the first semester of uni. Even if you have to stay up late to finish it, I’d suggest that you do it. Because if you don’t finish it this week, you’ll just have more to do next week.

Make study notes for everything at first. To be absolutely honest, there are a lot of subjects where you don’t end up needing study notes all that often. But I’d suggest making notes for everything the first week, because very often I’ve done notes for a subject, decided that I didn’t need any, then regretted it later on in the semester when there was too much to study. If you’re a notes person, make notes for everything.

That being said, know that you can’t write notes for everything forever. Sure, first and second year you can. But keep in mind that notes are time consuming to make, and tbh not the most optimal way to get the most information into your mind in a short time. It’s good for when you’re trying to learn each and every thing in a subject, like in high school for your HSC for example, but in uni, it’s better to understand concepts and memorise big picture things at the end of the day.

Learn as much as you can in class. Skim through the lecture notes before class, and write down any questions, but you basically want to understand the concepts in class. If there’s anything that you don’t understand, try and ask the teacher and follow up on it at the end of the class if there’s not enough time for questions. Try your best to follow what’s happening at the moment it happens.

Revise regularly. The reason for this is so that you can change the shape of the forgetting curve. This is the number one easiest thing to procrastinate, because it is probably the hardest to do regularly. I find it easier to set aside one large chunk of time to revise, even though it’s not optimum. The reason is because if planning one hour a day to revise, it’s usually at the end of the day after all your homework is done… and homework almost always runs over the time that you set aside for it. In addition to that, you want to avoid having to write anything new in that session, so make sure you have your study notes already done

Don’t forget who you were in high school. I can’t count the number of people who have studied their hardest in high school and scored ATARs of 95+ and yet completely bum around in uni, and don’t seem to care as long as they pass the course. Idk, personally, it’s just not an aesthetic that I would want myself to have; you tried that hard in high school, was it just a means to an ends? Now that you’re in your dream course, it suddenly doesn’t matter if you can’t make heads or tails of it? My cheesy message is: You made it! Celebrate it! Embrace it! Love learning it! Evolve and develop your mentality for university now that the goals are not a 99.95 ATAR, but a goal of your own choosing.

Explore new methods of note taking. There is a plethora of information concerning lecture note taking, writing summary notes, and specifically for university too. Or try your own thing. I personally am someone who likes taking notes in red font on my lecture slides - any explanations or emphases that are expressed are highlighted, without missing anything while typing up the main points. And I don’t bother to rewrite things in my own words, as long as I understand a concept; I know this is heavily emphasised as a good way to take notes in high school (in almost all the note making tutorials I’ve read), but in uni you don’t have the luxury of time. Lecture notes usually are anywhere from 3 to 6 A4 pages per hour of study notes, so it’s unfeasible when you have 8 hours of lectures a week. Try something different!

Do a brain dump on paper. My friend swears by this method. You go to a lecture, and straight afterwards write down everything you remember from that lecture right there and then. Then the day when you sit down to study it, do the same thing. The amount of things you’ve forgotten will be in plain view, which gets you to put the hard yards into memorising. Do the brain dump again once you’ve finished everything to check that you’ve memorised more than you did that initial brain dump.

Sidon’s Epic Pining Adventure

Summary: Sidon can’t quite place when it was that he realized his feelings for a certain Hylian Champion had gotten out of hand, but it suddenly feels like he is so overwhelmed with emotion and unrequited feelings that he can hardly breathe.Goddess above, he’s too afraid to even question what his dear sister would think. After all, Link was her beloved. How could his own foolish heart threaten to tarnish Mipha’s memory?Thankfully, if Sidon has one thing going for him it’s that his pining is so ridiculously intense that it actually leads to a great awakening in the one person who could help him.

Chapter 1: Mipha’s Gone

Author’s notes: ….you better believe this fic is going to be as fucking ridiculous as the title suggests. Just. absolutely. Ridiculous.

Although I will warn you this first chapter’s gonna be quite angsty. Sidon has some much put off grieving to deal with he needs a moment to be sad before he can realize he’s fucking gay for the smol wild man.

Don’t worry though, to anyone whose read Bed Time, you’ll see a character that I’ve introduced in this chapter that shows up in that fic, which takes place after the events of this one. So rest assured that this story will most definitely have a happy ending ;)
