quintis wedding countdown:
day two - favourite s2 episode: 2.18 the fast & the nerdiest

I made one last monster bet. I’m gambling that a skinny, moderately good-looking pain-in-the-neck like me can land someone like you. It’s the biggest gamble of my life.

this isn’t mine, but i love it so fcking much im in tears lol. but 50 years later and the outsiders is still in my opinion the best book ever written. thank u so much for writing a book that will forever impact me and everything i do. ive never fallen in love with a book until this one.

anonymous asked:

Hi, i love the pjo series and this blog is really awesome and I dunno if u find this weird but are u there in any other fandom? (HP, hunger games, etc) Sry, thnks

Thanks, and not a weird question at all! Since I read most of these series when I was younger, I wasn’t really in the “online” fandom, and now I can’t remember much about the books or like them enough now to join them. When I was younger, however, I loved Divergent, HP, Maze Runner, and some other series I can’t think of atm,..

Book Tag!

I kinda took it from @mrsbarlowswife. I love books too much not to pass this up.

1. Favourite author from your country?
Hmm. I would have to say Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson and the Olympians were a huge part of my childhood and I still read his books today. Honestly as long as he keeps putting in more diversity I will read all of them.

2. Favourite children’s book?
Not a picture book but The Titans Curse by Rick Riordan is one of my all time favorites. I wanted so badly to be a Hunter of Artemis when I was little and I had a major crush on Thalia Grace.

3. A book that changed your life?
Wow. This is hard. I wouldn’t say that a certain book has ever CHANGED my life in a emotional way or taught me an important lesson but there are books that have made me happy.

The Titans Curse is the first one. Honestly Rick Riordan has taken over the last three questions but this book means so much. I was obsessed with Thalia because she was punk and badass and daughter of Zeus and I wanted to be just like her.

Keeping You a Secret by Julie Ann Peters. This was the first book I ever read that had WLW main characters and yes it is kinda YA and falls into the cliche a book about coming out but it holds a special place in my heart. Plus to this day one thing I am happy about is that it portrays a coming out scene where her mother kicks her out. Like of course all parents should be accepting but it makes me happy when books deal with being not accepted and working through it because that is a reality still for some LGBTQ youth. Also I was and still am terrified of coming out to my parents so I appreciated what she did.

4. The best book you read this year is…?
Hmmm. It’s honestly a tie between The Fate of the Tearling (anyone want a female lead, non-romantic although there is some sex scenes, queen fantasy novels I would highly recommend The Queen of the Tearling series) and Phantom Pains by Mishell Baker (there is kickass representation, and a bisexual female lead).

5. The worst book I read this year?
Hmm. I don’t think I have a worst book that I read this year. Since I’m in school if there is a book that I don’t like I won’t finish it because I’m not going to continue and waste my time.

6. A book that is overrated to you
YIKES! Um Ender’s Game, yes yes I know it’s a classic but now other things have come out that are similar (and better) than it. Also Orson Scott Card is a homophobic douche canoe so…yeah.

7. Randomly recommend a book
Since I’m being a rebel here I’ll recommend two.

1.) Hark! A Vagrant by Kate Beaton. I think many people have read them or at least seen them on Tumblr. She writes historical comics or comics that at least have to do with literature and history. They are hilarious, I would highly recommend.

2.) The Rook by Daniel O’Malley. Think supernatural secret service but the bureaucratic side of things. There are two books so far and they all have female leads and there is no romance if you are tired of that sort of thing. They are hilarious and he thinks up some really cool powers.

I’ll tag @shineresponsiblyucrazydiamond, @our-chuck-is-not-a-smiling-chuck (my two SLACers. Miss you guys), @jimmy-sarraf, @kitkat7, @kuraginas, @daughterlexas, @purpleflurfle and anyone else who wants to do it.

Hahah, imagine Gellert buying all the pastries from Jacob's bakery, little Demiguise and Niffler bread!!! But Gellert doesn't Graves to notice the Niffler pastry, so he hides it in a purse and munches on it when nobody is watching. Ohh I shall definitely read Invisible Monsters, I adore unusual books so much.

Not wanting to be seen by anyone he hides in the closet and Credence hears something in there and opens the door suddenly, finding Gellert with his mouth half open, nibbling on a Niffler pastry from a purse. “H-hey… it’s not what it looks like..” he mumbles with his mouth full and a silly shrug. :))))

  • So the London production of CATCF was pretty terrible. The only thing it had going for it were the incredible sets (and Douglas Hodge who was an amazing Wonka). When I heard Broadway would be making changes to improve the show for New York audiences I was so excited because this show had so much potential but the book and score were a snooze fest. However, they minimised the sets (Charlie needs to be a big spectacle to work, especially the factory), cast adults as the kids (trust me, there were many problems with the London production but the kids were not one of them), and I've even heard that the golden ticket winners all die in this production with the exception of Charlie (but then majestically turn up at the end anyway because why not). Veruca Salt apparently gets torn apart by the squirrels, Violet explodes and Augustus Gloop gets decapitated... so much for a family friendly show. I also believe they have taken away the whole mystery surrounding Willy Wonka and Christian Borle has a major presence before they even get to the factory...which is dumb. Ruins the story. I don't care if it's Christian Borle (who is amazing) playing him, don't sacrifice the story to give him more stage time.
  • Despite the fact I nearly slept through Charlie in London, I would probably chose to see it again over the Broadway production any day. If Christian Borle gets a Tony nomination this year and it's for this and not Falsettos, I'm going to be quite upset. He deserves it so much for Falsettos if he is to get nominated at all.
  • EDIT: for the record, not saying Christian isn't good in the show. I haven't seen it on Broadway so obviously I can't comment on his performance, but I do think he's insanely talented. I just think his performance in Falsettos (which I did see) is a much stronger role for him to be able to showcase his abilities.

Tagged by @theianitor! Thank you!

Coke or pepsi: Coke

Disney or dreamworks: I like Pixar best, so I guess Disney.

Coffee or tea: TEA 4 LYFE

Books or movies: I’m not much of a movie person but these days I’m also not much of a book person either cos I do all my reading online via either AO3 for fiction, or loads of places for non-fiction. I prefer the latter these days anyway, so I’m gonna say books.

Windows or mac: Windows, never owned anything Apple.

Dc or marvel: Neither. I have no interest in comics whatsoever!

Xbox or playstation: Neither - I have no interest in gaming either, lol

Dragon age or mass effect: See above

Night owl or early riser: Night owl. There’s a special kind of focus one can only achieve after midnight! It’s so much easier to keep going than it is to start in the first place lol.

Cards or chess: Cards I guess but I’ve not played card games in years.

Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate. I’d say I actively dislike vanilla tbh, it’s in too many places it shouldn’t be!

Vans or converse: They’re the same damn thing m8

Lavellan, trevelyan, cadah, or adaar: I have no idea what these words are.

Fluff or angst: Fluff forever *clap clap clapclapclap*

Beach or forest: Forest

Dogs or cats: Cats, though I like dogs a lot more than I used to. But they’re just not as soft.

Clear skies or rain: Clear skies. I hate rain, which sucks for someone who lives in Britain tbh

Cooking or eating out: Eating at restaurants is one of my favourite things to do and I’d do it every day if I could :9 I can cook, I just find it tedious so I tend to make simple, quick meals when I’m cooking for myself.

Spicy food or mild food: I enjoy both (though not SUPER spicy)! Though spicy food sometimes messes my body up these days cos I’m old :(

Halloween/samhain or solstice/yule/christmas: Christmas. I’ve never been a Halloween person (again, cos I’m old and it wasn’t so much of a big deal in the 80s, and also my parents were religious so discouraged that kind of ~demonic celebration). Anyway Christmas has presents and special food soooo no contest!

Would you rather forever be a little too cold or a little too hot: A bit too hot. Being too cold makes me extremely miserable!

If you could have a superpower, what would it be: Teleportation would be sweet.

Animation or live action: I like both, but pretty much the only films I go see at the cinema these days are animated.

Paragon or renegade: Again, idk what these terms refer to.

Baths or showers: Showers for convenience, but really I like baths more cos I enjoy sitting down.

Team cap or Team ironman: Idc about either. I have both blacklisted on Tumblr, soz >.>

Fantasy or sci-fi: Not really bothered about either.

Do you have three or four favourite quotes? If so what are they?:

“If you’re not afraid, you’re not paying close enough attention.”

“You tried your best, and failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.”

“If you can keep your head while all around you are losing theirs, then you may have underestimated the gravity of the situation.”

Two from the Simpsons, one I heard on Radio 3 recently that resonated with me, haha. Words to live by.

Youtube or netflix: They’re both important, cos YouTube is free and has loads of obscure stuff, but Netflix has the legal stuff (and is good quality).

Harry potter or percy jackson: Neither really (though I understand Percy has some guinea pig connection :3a)

When do you feel accomplished: When I finish a fic I think is decent and people actually read it lol. That’s all I ask tbh!

Star wars or star trek: Not that bothered about either, but nothing against either of them!

Paperback books or hardback books: Paperback

Horror or rom-com? Horror, as long as it’s not gory.

To live in a world without literature or music: Without literature I guess - music kind of counts as both anyway

Pastel colors or dark colors: Neither, I like bright colours.

Tv shows or movies: TV shows (not long series tho, not got the attention span for that >.>)

City or countryside: Countryside, love dat nature

If any other zodiac sign could describe you, what would it be: I’m more Sagittarius than Virgo in a lot of ways (specifically my flightiness lol).

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be? The Beatles’ White Album

Cinema or theatre? Cinema

If you could be any fictional character’s best friend, who’d you be? Hmm, maybe Carrot from the Discworld. He’d keep you safe.

Smiling or smirking? Smiling~

Are you an ‘all or nothing’ type or are you more consistent? Lol I’m neither of those things, I’m just half-arsed about most things at all times tbh

Playlists or your whole library on shuffle? I just let Spotify suggest stuff for me these days, I like being surprised.

Travelling or staying at home? Much as I love being at home just messing about on the internet, I actually love to travel. Love being on trains, I even enjoy long-haul flights. I love seeing stuff that’s very different to what you get at home, especially in terms of nature and history.

If you could have a meal with three people, alive and dead, who would you choose? Hmmm, good question! Keeping my choices to the world of the living, Felipe Massa, James Taylor, and El Ligero maybe! They’re all lovely guys and I think they’d get on very well, talking about near-death experiences, comparing training, luring people into golf etc.

Favourite sports team? Williams Martini Racing, the England Test cricket team~

Tagging @adustierstar, @shinyforce, @picniclightnings, @eleclya, @everydayfandom, @nadayoghurt, @thepagemistress, @kobayboshi @twistsofsilver, @ivegotmytowel if you want to do it! :)

other ya characters: this guy…he’s so dark and mysterious, the way he just hurts everyone around him…including me. i’ve cried so much since i’ve met him, but no no he’s just misunderstood, you don’t understand him! and sure i’ve only known him for 2 days and he has a million secrets, but i’d forfeit my life for his

inej ghafa: kaz is a literal piece of crap. he treats everyone badly, and though he’s never treated me horribly, i still won’t give in unless he shows me he can be more than all of this. until then i’ll be out saving the world because my goals are obviously more important than a relationship

“Why do you write sad things?” is one of the hardest questions I’ve always been asked.

How could I answer that? How could I tell you that all I have is sadness, and all I can share to the world is sadness? How could I tell you that every time I get a little glimpse of happiness, I always just save it for myself, keeping it close to my heart, memorizing every details and feelings, and not writing it down because writing it down feels a lot like giving it away, like I am letting that little happiness go. How could I tell you that I write sad things to purge it out from my system? That it is impossible to write sad things without sadness consuming you to the core to the point that all you can do is to bleed it out on the paper. How could I tell you that? That I write sad things to let it out, hoping that one day it would never come back, that maybe one day, I will finally succeed in writing all my sadness away.

Honestly, one of the greatest things about Skyrim is that you can say “the octopus god of books” and anyone who plays will know what you’re on about.
