Ride 91 of 2013/ August 17, 50 miles

Hills and quiet roads out to the local ski area of Tyrol Basin. From just north east of the ski area there’s a long and gradual climb on County Highway JG that builds to a moderately steep climb into Mt Horeb. As always, we took the gravel return from Mt Horeb and took time to BS and enjoy the warm dry air of late August on our spin back.

Our group of 6 kept a solid pace for the full 50 miles. I felt good the whole way- I think my steady milage has built a good base and I’m starting to feel fit. I need the solid base, in 10 days I leave for 9 days of riding in the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.

At Home Amongst The Trolls

Moving to a new place means finding the grocery store, the post office, and getting to know new neighbors. It can also mean learning new folktales. Writer Alex Bledsoe tells us about the creatures he encountered after moving to Wisconsin.

Alex Bledsoe is the author of many books, including the Eddie LaCrosse novels and Wisp of a Thing, part of the Tufa series.
