- By early afternoon we are out of the brush/alders and having lunch up on the ridge. The weather is beginning to change rapidly and the rain and wind begin to really pick up. The rest of the day looks like it will be very wet and cold…thankfully we have our rain gear and warm clothes! We spend a wet afternoon evening working on our stratigraphy and head back down the valley and boulder field back to camp. Before leaving the upper parts of the valley Cody spots a few Caribou high on the ridge. Our path out of the valley is much more of a challenge given the wet brush/alders and boulder field; the final river crossing back to camp is uneventful but VERY COLD in the wet rainy conditions. We get back to camp late but with daylight left and all hit our tents for some dry clothes and some much needed rest.
