album of the year

request: Harry one where you have a little girl that looks just like you and he adores her just as much as you and shows her off but also loves daddy cuddles

“Chloe? Chloe, where are you, we have to go–” I walked in the bathroom to find Chloe sitting on the counter, Harry behind her with her hair in his fingers and an elastic in his mouth. “So you didn’t like how I did your hair, huh?” I smirked.

“Daddy braids better, mum, we didn’t want to hurt your feelings.”

I laughed as Harry secured a braid in her hair, “You didn’t hurt my feelings, sweetie.”

“Alright,” Harry lifted Chloe down from the counter, “You’re ready for the red carpet, princess. Show me your walk and pose.“

Chloe walked a few steps, hand on hips as Harry narrated, "Walk, walk, walk, pose.” Chloe smiled at the hypothetical cameras. “Walk, walk, walk, pose.” Chloe blew a kiss to the camera. “Perfect! They’re gonna love you.”

Today I felt a disrespect so intense that I don’t believe I (as a rich, white person in America) have ever and will ever feel again. Somebody had the gall to claim that Lady Gaga is the greatest feminist icon in pop culture in my presence, as if legends such as Aretha Franklin, Marilyn Monroe, and Ella Fitzgerald were/are not a million times more talented than she will ever be. Don’t get me wrong! I’m quite the fan of Ms. Gaga, and was willing to give said person the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to correct themselves. However, they looked me straight in the eye and said: “Gaga is better than them.”

I’ve never been so disappointed in my generation, honestly.

Hotel Inspiration and Character Details (From TCA Panel)

Story Details

The Hotel idea was inspired by a surveillance video from a Los Angeles-based hotel from two years ago. The footage showed a girl in an elevator who was never seen again. “It is called ‘Hotel,’ and it’s set in a hotel. We deal with a lot of American horrors, including addiction.” Ryan also revealed that the setting is Downtown Los Angeles.

Finn Wittrock “Tristan Duffy”
“I’m playing a male model named Tristan Duffy who’s always looking for the next high. And I think he sort of finds his biggest high in Lady Gaga, and they have a lot to do together. She sees all of me.”

Sarah Paulson “Sally”
“My character this year is quite dark. I think she’s sexy. She’s a drug addict, and not that drug addicts are sexy, but this girl happens to be quite sexy. She’s got a thing. I don’t think it’s like anything I’ve done on this show … I play Sally, I live at the hotel. I hate Iris in a rather ancient way for reasons that are revealed quickly. I have kind of budding something with Wes’s character. It’s sort of dark and, sorry, you don’t know this yet.”

Angela Bassett “Ramona Royale”
“I play Ramona Royale, and I’m sexy as well, yet not in a drug addicty kind of way. And I have a very strong real lasting relationship with Lady Gaga’s character. And my character is also this fabulous actress. I don’t live at the hotel, but I visit there a lot.”

Cheyenne Jackson “Will Drake
“Will Drake, fashion icon. He’s trying to creatively reestablish himself, so he moves from New York to Los Angeles. A father, and a little desperate.”

Denis O’Hare “Liz Taylor”
“I’m playing Liz Taylor, movie icon. I’m not actually playing Elizabeth Taylor, but I’m playing a person who is inspired by the awesomeness of things like Butterfield 8 and Cleopatra and eye makeup like that. And I shaved my head for the part and other body parts. I work in the hotel, I work with Kathy, and I work in the bar.” Brad Falchuk said that O’Hare’s character falls into the LGBT arena.

Chloe Sevigny “Alex Lowell
“I play Alex, and I’m the wife of Wes Bentley, and a mother and a doctor and dealing with a great loss that we had in our family and coming to grips with that, among other things.”

Matt Bomer Donovan”
“I play Donovan, who is closely associated with Ms. Gaga and Ms. Bates, and Mr. Wittrock, amongst others. And he has very interesting relationships with the lady folk in his life.”

Wes Bentley “Detective John Lowell”
“I play Detective John Lowell, I’m married to Chloe’s character. We had a great loss in the family. Investigating some grisly murders, which somehow leads me to checking into the hotel.”

Kathy Bates “Iris”
“I play Iris. I run the hotel. I have relationships with Matt Bomer and with Wes, and I can’t stand Sarah Paulson, I hate you. And I don’t know yet if I get to work with Angela, I hope I do. And Liz Taylor and I have a very close relationship, and I do crossword puzzles in my spare time.”

Lady Gaga “Elizabeth”
“Her character’s name is Elizabeth. She owns the hotel, and she is sort of a very wealthy social doyenne who is consumed with art and fashion and people and she has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode and plays out over the course of the season. She starts shooting on Monday.” Ryan also revelead that her character is bisexual and is in relationships with Angela Bassett and Cheyenne Jackson’s characters.

Evan wasn’t present at the panel so no details about his character were given

xethairius  asked:

Hey Amanda! I hope this isn't too intrusive, and I completely respect your right not to answer, but I've never considered you to be ableist, transphobic etc. I would very much like to hear your side of the story, if you're willing to share it. I have been a huge fan for a long time, and I cannot believe what they are saying is true. I believe in you.

I’ve blogged a bit about these things…and I’ve often thought about posting the “Let Me Try To Set Every Record Straight About All Things One And For All!” blog about how I am not transphobic (nor is my husband), how I am not “ableist”, how I am not a rape-apologist, how I am not a “terrorist-lover”, how am I not a man-hater, and how I am not a man.

But I have realized over the last ten years of being called all of the above (and worse) that it isn’t my job as an artist (and as a human) to constantly explain myself, my songs, my poems, my actions. That would be a never-ending task, and it usually encourages the drama.

Listen to the work.

Is “Evelyn Evelyn” ableist?
Is “Sex Changes” transphobic?
Is “a poem for dzhokhar” terrorist- loving?
Does “oasis” apologize for rape?

If *you* find the work “problematic”, then there’s your answer. it is.

if you don’t? it’s not.

It’s art. the decision, ultimately, must be yours. that is what is beautiful and powerful about art.

don’t let somebody else - even me - make the decision for you.

one the the best things my early teachers - art and otherwise - taught me was about critical thinking and not believing everything you read, even if it’s in the New York Times or in a school history book.

there are no experts on your human heart and how art makes you feel. there’s only you.

there will always be people, on Internet and off, trying very hard to dictate what you should and shouldn’t think. about art. about politics. about feminism. about miley cyrus. about rush limbaugh. about woody allen. about lady gaga. hilary clinton. banksy.

it’s tempting.

as for the controversy about whether I have a penis or a vagina (which seems to have died down when ms gaga picked up the slack) you’ll have to let my vagina speak for itself, but we’ll need to get to know each other first.

look hard.

the decision, ultimately, must be yours.
