Jerome laughs as he kicks the man in the face making him fall to the floor and cry out in pain. “What did I tell you?” Jerome hisses to the man with a smirk. The man spits out blood and looks up at Jerome with trembling lips. “I-I’m sorry boss. I’ll have it by tomorrow.” “Eh! No! We made a deal, and I don’t like breaking them. You’ve figured that out already huh? So I’ll give you two hours. Have my money by then or… Well I guess it’s a good thing you left on a good note with your wife.” Jerome laughs at the mans terrified face.
“I’ll have it. I swear.” The man scrambles out of the room quickly. I giggle and hug Jerome from behind. “I love it when you’re violent.” I sigh into him tightening my arms around him. “Aww me too dolly.” Jerome spins around and hugs me back. “Oh! Idea! How about we go crash a charity bash!” “Does this have anything with Bruce Wayne being there?” I ask seeing as he’s still struggling with his unfinished kill that got him killed a couple years back.
“No. I just want to see you in a sexy red number is all, and no I don’t mean covered in blood this time.” “Hm shocker there.” I giggle and kiss my clown prince of crime. “Well then. I should go get ready.” I go to our shared room and get myself presentable for rich people. It’s so much work living a double life. One full of crime and then the high life. Plus dating the one and only clown prince of crime is a challenge on its own. His always back and fourth with well everything. Even what he wants on his toast. Such a struggle between strawberry or grape.
I decent down the marble steps and pose at the bottom waiting for Jerome’s eyes to catch me. “Ohh look at you!” He stumbles over to me and grasps my waist. “So polished. So yummy! So rich!” J kisses up my neck making me giggle. “Let’s go baby. Let’s make some dummy’s screams!”
When we arrive at the venue Jerome goes and hides while I socialize with others. “(Y/n) (Y/l/n).” I look over to the owner of the voice and see Jim Gordon. Ugh kill me now. I internally roll my eyes and stroll over to him. “Mr. Gordon. It is so lovely to see you.” “You too. How are you doing? Well I hope. I’m sorry we couldn’t catch Jerome in time.” Jim asks referring to when Jerome killed my parents because they found out about us being together.
I look down acting as if I was saddened by this mention. “Better. It’s just hard not seeing them everyday. I never knew I could miss my mother’s burnt chicken, or my fathers yelling at the TV.” Jim nods with a small smile.
“Ah Bruce. Good to see you.” I turn around to see the famous boy billionaire Bruce Wayne. “Hello Jim. (Y/n).” “Bruce.” I smile and bat my eye lashes at him.
Suddenly the lights go out and a loud cackling erupts. I smirk knowing how scared everyone is. A single gun shot is heard and the whole place is silent. “Hello Gotham.” Jerome starts to cackle again louder this time. The lights turn back on. I watch as Jerome slides down the railing on the stairwell.
I make my way to the front wanting to watch the show. “(Y/n). No.” Jim holds me back. “I have to see him. He needs to see the pain he’s caused me.” I say and run up to the front. Jerome’s eyes land on me with a smirk.
“Ahh Lookie here! If it isn’t Ms. (Y/l/n). The last living family member of the (Y/l/n) family. How’s that going for ya?” He taunts me stepping closer.
I stay silent and make a tear slide down my cheek. “Aw you poor thing. Here.” Jerome reaches and swipes the tear off giggling as he does. He suddenly grabs me and places a gun to my head. “NOW! WHERE IS BRUCE WAYNE!” Bruce doesn’t stand up. “3… 2…” “I’m right here.” Bruce says and comes into view. Jerome tosses me to the side and runs to Bruce.
Before he could get to him a red light appears on his chest. He doesn’t notice. Jerome doesn’t realize he’s about to get shot down. I run and jump in front of him taking the bullet for him. The crowd screams as I fall to the ground. I fall perfectly in Jerome’s arms. I look up at him and tears start to come out of his eyes. Actual tears. As I lose my senses one by one the last thing I hear is “I love you.”
A week. It’s been a week since she’s been shot. The cops took her to the hospital and she’s been there ever since. I sip my scotch sitting in front of the lit fire waiting for my trained monkey to walk through the large doors.
“Boss.” I look at the time and see it to be 9:00. “Right on time Sam.” I say with my scratchy voice. He comes around and stands beside my chair. “You need to come with me.” “Whys that? Nothing left to do.” “She’s awake.” Sam says and I can’t believe my own ears.
I get up quickly and run to the car. Sam drives me to the back of the hospital. “5th floor, 8th window down from the right.” I climb each wedge till I get to the window I needed. I see a doctor talking with her and then unhooking her from some matches. Once he walks out I tap on the window getting her attention. She leaps out of bed struggling with her strength and opens the window.
“Jerome.” She sighs hugging me close. I hug her back but pull back and shake her. “Why would you do that?” “Do what?” I roll my eyes. “Take that bullet. Are you crazy?” She tilts her head as if she’s thinking. She smiles and giggles cutely wrapping her arms around my neck. “Yes.” She say and presses her soft tender lips to my own.
I take her home and lay with her all night caressing her soft milky flesh. “You know what doll?” “What?” “You’re the one person who can make the Joker cry.” I kiss her forehead and tightly secure my arms around her. “Yeah I guess I am. I love you J.” “I love you too (Y/n).”
I ruffle my hair once more in the mirror looking at my appearance before I turn to my father. “So whatcha think pops?” He looks up from his paper and looks over my outfit. “Change.” He says simply and returns to his paper. “What? Why? This is better then the other one!” “I wouldn’t even let Barbra wear that out!” He says strictly. As if on que Barbra walks in and looks me up and down. “Oh come on Jim. She looks hot!” “Thanks Barb.” I laugh and give her a wink while my father rolls his eyes.
“Come on dad. I don’t even have time to change. Jarred’s car is going to run out of gas before I get out there!” He sighs and stands up walking to the kitchen. “Where are you going?” I ask confused. “Giving you enough time to leave before I make you even more late by changing.” I run to the door grabbing my purse and jacket before running outside and into the waiting car full of my friends.
“Ohhh someone’s looking good. New top?” My best friend Steph asks looking at the expensive cloth on my body. “Only the finest for daddy’s little princess.” I say laughing. “Well I think you’d look much better with it off.” Noel says in my ear trailing small kisses down my neck and tugging at my shirt.
“Oh gross guys. I’d rather not ruin my car.” Jarred says in the drivers seat. “Well it technically would just be breaking it in.” Noel says humming the air. Noel and I are no where near a relationship, but way more then friends. It’s been that way since freshman year when I went to a party and well… Got very influenced by arable substances and alcoholic beverages, and woke up in the same bed with Noel. You know what they say about cops daughters. They’re the most wild ones.
Going on two strong years of fooling around with him. Sure he’s hot as hell, but I honestly want something more. Shocker right? The slut wants a real committed relationship. Huge surprise.
As Noel continues to rub my thighs and kiss my neck I get distracted by lights and a huge red and white striped tent. “Wait. Where are we exactly?” I ask pushing Noel away to get a better look at our new destination. “Welcome to Haly’s circus everyone.” Jarred says parking in the make shift parking lot.
“I hate clowns.” Noel rolls his eyes stepping out of the car. “Wow such a surprise given that you are one.” I say flicking him in the back of the head. “Now you listen here Gorden!” He says grabing my ass and biting my neck hard. “Ow! Stop Noel! Not here! There are kids around!” I exclaim pushing him away. “Well why not? Add it to the list.” He chuckles and pushes me up against the car and lightly putting his hand in between my thighs. “What the hell is wrong with you? I said no!” I hiss at him and push him away. “Are you two coming or not?” Steph yells at us.
As we come to the ticket booth I see a boy handing them out. “Hello welcome to Haly’s circus. How many?” He asks in a soft friendly voice. He looks around my age. Tall, fiery red hair, and greenish blue eyes that shine as he smiles. “Hi just 4.” Jarred says with his arm around Steph. “More like 3 and an idiot.” I mumble under my breath catching a slight smirk from the red head. He passes the tickets to us. When I reach for mine our fingertips slightly brush, and a slight shock is felt. “Enjoy your night.” He says and smiles at me warmly.
We walk into the gigantic red and white tent and take the first seats we saw that were free. As the clowns were clowning around a feel a tug on my arm. I look to my right and see Noel with longing glossy eyes. “Come with me.” “What? No I wanna see this.” I complain pulling my arm away. Not a minute later Noel pulls me up harshly and out of the tent. Seeing as most people are in the tent watching the show there aren’t many people outside.
Noel continues to pull me to the parking lot without a word. “What the hell is up with you?” I yell at him yanking my arm out of his grasp. He jingles the car keys in front of my face with a smirk. “Get in the back seat.” I look at his face closer. “Are you drunk?” “I said get in the back seat (y/n).” I scoff and cross my arms across my chest. “I’m not getting in the car Noel.” He chuckles and shakes his head. “Fine. Guess I’ll just have to force you in there.”
Noel throws the door open, and grasps both of my arms. He turns us around so my body was to the open door. “Get the hell off of me Noel!” “Oh come on stop fighting it! You’ll enjoy it.” He grunts as he pushes me on the leather seat. He sticks his hand up my shirt kissing me. “Noel stop!” I yell struggling to get him off me.
“I think she told you to stop.” A voice says from behind us. Noel looks behind him to see the ticket booth guy. “Beat it ginger. This doesn’t involve you.” Noel reaches to close the door but is stopped when the red head grasps his arm and tugs him out of the car. “What the hell you doing man?” Noel yells as he pushes my savior.
One clean punch to the face and Noel was on the ground with blood pouring from his nose. “Come on.” The red head sticks his hand out for me. As he helps me out of the car Noel is still on the ground trying to process everything. The boy who’s name I still don’t know leads me away from the parking lot and to metal trailers. He walks to one and opens the door leading me in.
He sits me on the couch as me gets me a glass of water. “Thank you.” I say grabbing the glass in my hand. “I figured you were thirsty.” He says and sits next to me. “No. Thank you for saving me back there. You don’t know how grateful I am.” I say laying my hand on top of his knee. “Uh Jerome. Jerome Valeska, and you’re welcome.” He says stammering over his words and rubbing the back of his neck.
“My names (y/n). (Y/n) Gorden.” Jerome smiles at me. “That’s a beautiful name.” “You think so?” “Yes. It’s a perfect name for someone as gorgeous as you doll.” I look down and blush. “I-I’m sorry. That was inappropriate of me.” Jerome says quickly. “No, no. Jerome it’s ok. It’s actually the first real compliment I’ve gotten.” He looks at me shocked. “Now I’m sure that’s not true. I mean look at you.” “Nope I’m being serious. Besides my dad that’s the first compliment I’ve gotten that’s not been related to anything pervy.” I say making him chuckle.
“So was that guy your boyfriend or-” “Oh god no! No. Just some asshole who I will never be talking to again.” I say rolling my eyes. As things start to quite down my phone starts to buzz in my purse. I pull it out and see a text from Steph.
‘Hey Noel said you got sick so you had your dad come pick you up. Guess we’ll have to plan the sleepover another night. You totally missed the fight Noel got I after. He said the other guy can’t even walk!’
I huff and lock my phone. “Yep never talking to him again.” I stand up and blow my hair out of my face. “What just happened?” Jerome asks standing up as well. “That dick left with my ride and now I’m stranded here.” “Well you could stay here tonight. As long as my mom is ok with it, and then I could drive you home tomorrow. I would do it tonight, but I don’t have my after 9’s yet.” Jerome says shuffling his feet. “Jerome I can’t ask for that. You’ve already done enough for me tonight. I can just go ask around I’m sure someone is generous enough.” I say and grasp the door handle.
“No please. I insist I wouldn’t want you in the car with some stranger.” “But you want a stranger to spend the night with you?” I ask crossing my arms and cocking my eyebrow with a smirk. “At least you know I’m not going to kill you.” He says putting his hands us in defense. “I actually don’t. You could just be very good at acting innocent.” “What are you a cop?” Jerome asks folding his arms and leaning on the small wall. “The daughter of one actually.” I say walking closer to him. “What does your mom do?” My face drops slightly. “She passed away when she gave birth to me.” “I’m so sorry I didn’t-” “It’s okay. It was just her time I guess.” I say wiping my head clean of my mother.
“You stay here and I’ll go find my mother.” Jerome says with a smile on his face. “No promises.” I wink and plop on the couch.
I finish my last swipe of eye shadow on my eyes and admire myself in the mirror. “Ha! Whatcha think boss?” I ask twirling in front of Galavan showing off my costume. “Very nice. Now what’s the name you wanted to use?” “Harley. Harley Quinn.” I say turning back to the mirror fixing my ponytails on each side of my head. “What’s next Gal?” “Next we wait for them to get here. Which should be in about…now.” The doors to the penthouse slam open and six people in striped uniforms are wheeled in strapped to hand trucks. I walk past the sleeping body’s till I get to my sweet Jerome. I giggle just thinking of his reaction to seeing me.
“Harley you remember what to do if anyone o tries to leave don’t you?” Galavan asks. “Of course boss. Unhook em and swing. Not to complex.” “Good girl. Now go till I call for you they’ll be waking up soon.” I giggle and walk out of the room excited to see Jerome.
I open my eyes slowly; my blurry vision clearing up to see a nice room, and beside me are my other inmates strapped down just like me.
“What the hell is this place?” Greenwood asks looking around like everyone else. I smile feeling jittery. “Ain’t Arkham anyhow. Things are looking up.” I say with a wide smile on my face.
A man walks in the room and looks at all of us. “Welcome everyone. My names Theo Galavan. This is my sister Tabitha.” As a dark skinned woman walks in the room the men howl, but not me no sir. My eyes are set on one woman only. My little doll. Which didn’t show up today or the day before, and she promised! “I understand you’re feeling confused, sacred, a little groggy, but please relax. Today is the first day of a wonderful future for all of you. If you want it.” Galavan says to us. “Who are you?” Barbra says. “Well now the question is who are you? The world sees criminal lunatics. I see brilliance, I see charisma, and power. I see power.” Galavan speaks walking down the line.
“Yes. Exactly my man. That is so spooky that is me to a T. These other bozos, oh I don’t know, but you’re singing my song.” I say just imagining the life he’s talking about. I could have my babygirl and go on killing sprees, and rule the world! “Quiet Jerome! Let him talk.” Ugh how rude!
“Imagine the synergy. Imagine the impact. Gotham would tremble before you.” Ugh I’m just getting even more jittery just thinking about it! “Well that all sounds fabulous but I am not a brilliant outlaw. I just have…issues.” Barbra speaks. What is wrong with you guy?! “You have ferocity and beauty, and desire, and that’s enough. You’re similar to Ms. Quinn. Very beautiful girl. Quick to the kill, and wants one thing inparticular.“ Galavan looks at me and walks more down the row of inmates. Quinn? Now where have I heard that before?
“Theo? That’s your name, right Theo? You’re getting way ahead of yourself here. First of all keep your hands off her. Second this whole magic team? I gotta pass. I don’t take orders. Good luck on everything though. It’s intriguing concept.” Richard says.
“This is very disappointing.” Galavan shakes his head looking down. Oh forget him! What about me? Huh? I could do so much better then him! “Oh fair play. You want a reward for busting us out of Arkham. I am great fun. How’s a million bucks sound? Pretty good huh? I can get it for you today as soon as I hit the street.” “Money’s not the concern. Oh I had such high hopes for you. I didn’t nit irate sexual jealousy. Already have one blooming flower of love, can’t have two. It poisons the well. You have to go. Harley will see you out.” Galavan says.
Suddenly a beautiful girl comes into view. She unhooks Richard. “Miss Kean is coming with me.” “Oh she doesn’t want to go where you’re going.” Richard turns around to look at Galavan. “What do you mean?” The girl giggles cutely grasping the metal bat from her back. “Batter up!” She swings hard and hits Richard in the face causing him to fall and cry out. She keeps hitting him continuously till his skull is completely smashed.
She laughs and then turns her gaze to me. “(Y/n)?” “Not anymore puddin. Say hello to your new and improved Harley Quinn! Miss me?” She giggles and kisses my cheek. I laugh a little and try to get out of my restraints to grab my baby. Oh when I get out we’re gonna have some real fun!
“Anyone else wanna leave?” Galavan laughs looking at our faces. “No sir.” I say keeping my eyes on Harl. Look out Gotham here comes the best dynamic duo you’ve ever seen!
He refused to sit him his room. Despite the nurse’s soft pleas, his croaked out again and again that he’d like to walk around, even if it was a little bit. Finally, under the watchful gaze of his favorite nurse (sweet Mrs. Keane, what a gentle, understanding woman), he plopped himself on the stone bench in the little garden and stared at the flowers until they seemed to wiggle under his gaze. The blonde saw a blob nearby move closer, but in his current state of mind, he couldn’t turn to look or care. “Do you think flowers talk to each other in their own language? I’d like to think each type would have an accent. I think daisies would be–” he furrowed his brow, focusing, “French.”
Can i add my 2 cents into this? Okay so with the new episode i really do think jim’s being a cold hearted *ahem*….yes…specially in regards to oswald who has literally given up his freedom for jim & his family and i would like nothing more than to slap some sense into him BUT! BUT i’m going to take jim’s side since no one else seems to be ;
● one of the things that made jim gordon a fav for me in the batman comics was that he was so plainly human there was nothing all that extraodinary about him (‘cept maybe his 'stache) specially when compared to the costumed villains & vigilantes he was always surrounded by and gotham’s jim also shares this trait and well…humans are…well fuck ups…yeah??
● oswald’s a criminal and a murderer (albeit a somewhat nice murderer but still) & for jim (specially as a cop) he’s going to be justifying that though oswald didn’t kill galavan his stint in arkham will be for those he did kill
● did he feel guilt when he saw oswald at arkham? I think he did…just a bit that was so miniscule it was hardly there…but mostly i think any gulit he would have felt would have been washed over by relief…relief that it wasn’t him in that situation because like i said he’s a character that’s so plainly human and most humans when pushed to it look out for their own intrests in spite of who they may harm by doing so. For jim- himself, leslie &(more specially) their baby will mean more to him than oswald.
● he will also see oswald as an adult who confessed to the crime by his own choice & declared his insanity by his own choice. Jim probably sees it as something he brought upon himself
● as the protagonist of a story jim’s behaviour is really terrible and not winning him any brownie points. But to me it makes the whole story more realistic given the situation. Jim’s a (somewhat corrupt) cop who is just trying to get through his job and start a family (that already looks like it’s starting to fracture) while oswald’s a criminal. Even with what oswald did for him jim shouldn’t care (not that i agree with it)
● as far as anyone knows oswald killed galavan and jim gave chase. So if jim were to show any kind of emotion other than cold indifference during the two times he saw oswald during this episode it’d really be giving something away. It’s not like he can assure oswald that he’d get him out with two ordelies just feet away from them (not that i’d really expect him to do this either way)
● jim’s just a cop not a hero. It’s not like he can bust into arkham & free a known criminal and expect to get off scott free (though i really and i mean REALLY want him to do this) which is why batman is needed in the first place, he can break all the rules because when you get down to it he’s a criminal himself. If jim could do all this we wouldn’t really need batman (though bruce is still a kiddo here so jim if you feel any need to be self destructive and break into arkham go for it! I support it all the way)
● jim has a bigger picture than just himself now. Though his relationship with leslie seems to be fizzling out he does care about their kid and he can’t very well look after a kid if he’s behind bars. Not to mention that his own father died when he was a kid and had relations to the mob which is something that caused conflict for him so he wouldn’t want his kid to go through the same thing
● does jim care about oswald? I think he does….a tiny tiny bit…'it’s-barely-there-and-he-probably-wants-to-ignore-it-anyway’ bit. If he didn’t i don’t think we would have gotten that 'mummy’s little monster’ scene
● is ignoring oswald’s plea for help going to come back to bite him? Unless he does something to help get him out before it’s too late then yes. Oswald’s going to reach that final straw & give up on jim and he’s going to go from being 'the penguin’ to 'THE Penguin’ one of batman’s A-list gotham rogues…there is no way this can’t come back to bite jim
None of these are predictions for how jim will continue to act during this season considering that he is a character shown to make rash at the moment decisions so for all we know he’ll be storming arkham two episodes down the road from here
Overall as much of a terrible person jim was in this episode i’d take his side cause not only was there nothing else for him to do but his actions were true to a person in a real life situation like that
y'all are welcome to argue any point with me
so on a totally different angle ;
■ bruce is becoming more batlike
■ selina you precious kitty
■ harvey’s a breath of fresh air in an angst riddled episode
■ leslie was a sweetie & her reaction to barbara was the best
■ hugo strange & ms peabody (??) are taking up my hatred for galavan
■ victor fries’ origin story has not failed to make me cry again
■ the amount of my protectiveness over a fictional murderer alarms me
■ WHY!?!? WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BRING BACK GALAVAN!?!? isn’t oswald suffering enough as it is!?!?!
■ red hair = jerome there is nothing to argue here.
- Mr. Keane, you appear to be without counsel. Would you like a postponement in order to get your affairs in order? - I’ve always taken care of myself. I don’t need a bunch of rent-a-suits to defend my good name. Let’s proceed.
