A first look at the all-new “DuckTales” premiering this summer on Disney XD. The series stars David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck; Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan as the voices of Huey, Dewey and Louie, respectively; Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack; Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack and Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and will follow the epic family of ducks on their high-flying adventures around the world.
I am playing Dewey in the new Ducktales TV show! DUCKTALES IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS OF ALL TIME! I grew up on these characters. In elementary school, I would race home after school every day, make mac and cheese (I wasn’t lactose intolerant yet) and watch the Disney Afternoon at David and Jose Fernandez’s house in Riverdale. We watched the show, played the Nintendo game, re-watched the movie, all of it. My ringtone a few years ago was the Moon theme from the Ducktales video game which maybe one person ever got. So, I am incredibly excited to be a part of this show. A few hours ago, they announced the main cast and it’s magic. Scrooge McDuck- David Tennant, Huey- Danny Pudi, Dewey- Me, Louie- Bobby Moynihan, Webby Vanderquack- Kate Micucci, Launchpad McQuack- Beck Bennett, Mrs. Beakley- Toks Olagundoye and you will be pumped to find out who is playing the amazing guest cast for Donald Duck, Flintheart Glomgold, Gyro Gearloose, Duckworth, Gizmoduck, Magica DeSpell, Gladstone Gander, and Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys. I can’t wait for this thing to come out. Frank Angones and Matthew Youngberg are gonna make you smile. For now you can watch us all sing the theme song above. Woo-oo!
the star-studded cast was just announced––and it’s pretty impressive. To give you a taste of just how special the roster is, David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones) was brought on to voice Scrooge McDuck! Danny Pudi (Community, Star Trek Beyond), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation, BoJack Horseman), and Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) will be playing Huey, Dewey, and Louie respectively.
The rest of the cast will be rounded out by: Beck Bennett (Saturday Night Live) as Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye (Castle, The Neighbors) as Mrs. Beakley, and Kate Micucci (Milo Murphy’s Law) as Webby Vanderquack.
The other characters slated to make a return are: Donald Duck, Flintheart Glomgold, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Gizmoduck, Magica DeSpell, Gladstone Gander, Ma Beagle, and the Beagle Boys.
((Sort of a very loose adaptation of “The Billionaire of Dismal Downs” but with Scrooge himself instead of Fergus and set in the original DuckTales canon, with a few elements of Rosa thrown in.))
Scrooge sat in his living room reading a letter from Donald to the kids.
“Dear Uncle Scrooge,
I can’t thank you enough for taking care of the kids. You’ve raised them well over these years. Anyway my enlistment contract is finally up, so I’m coming home to stay.
Love, Uncle Donald.”
In celebration, Scrooge had Mrs. Beakley prepare all the kids and Donald’s favorite meals.
“Gosh, we’re gonna miss you, Unca Scrooge,” said Huey.
“I’ll miss you too, kids,” he said with a half-sad smile “I just hope you’ve had the most fun I could give you over these years.”
“We couldn’t ask you for anything more,” said Dewey.
“And may I say, Mr. McDuck, I too am extremely grateful for all these years Webby and I have been under your roof.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Beakley. Of course ya dinnae have to go anywhere. I left wee Webby the mansion.”
“Unca Scrooge! I don’t know what to say!” said Webby.
“Just say you’ll take good care of yourself, darling. That’s all I need to know. Oh and Mrs. Beakley, I made you the legal guardian of Bubba and Gene, so take good care of them.”
“I will, Mr. McDuck,” she said.
Gene nodded at Mrs. Beakley and then at Scrooge.
“I’ll miss you too. Thanks for everything, Scrooge,” he said.
“And it has been my most gracious pleasure serving you, sir,” said Duckworth.
“Thank you for your many years of loyalty, Duckworth. You’ve been with me in this household longer than anybody.”
“Hey, I think hear Unca Donald pulling up,” said Louie.
Donald rang the bell. The boys excitedly ran to the door and all hugged him at the same time.
“Ach, me favorite nephew!” Scrooge said getting up from his chair, opening his arms for a hug.
“U-Uncle Scrooge! Good to see you! Boy you’ve changed a lot since my enlistment.” he said returning the hug.
“I’m very proud of you, Donald,” said Scrooge.
They sat down to dinner and dessert. After that Scrooge finally hugged Donald and the boys goodbye and watched them drive off. He then hugged the remaining children good night and walked upstairs. Upstairs he saw the spirit of Sir Quackly McDuck.
“Thank you for allowing me an extra day to spend with my family, Sir Quackly.”
“Well I couldnae have made those wee laddies orphans s’ soon, before their other uncle came teh get them. Anyway, Scrooge, the rest of the McDuck clan’s eager to meet you after a hundred years. And quite an amazing century you’ve had.”
“It was,” he said, looking back on his lifetime of adventure. “But I’m ready to conquer the new realm now.” Sir Quackly flew off through the ceiling and Scrooge followed.
A reboot of “DuckTales” is in the works, Disney announced Wednesday. It’s set to launch on Disney XD in 2017.
The original Emmy-winning series aired from 1987-1990 as part of The Disney Afternoon daily cartoon block, and spawned an animated theatrical release in 1990 as well.
The reboot will, like the original, follow McDuck, his grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie and Donald Duck as they adventure around the world. Other characters from the original, including Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell and Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack, are also set to return.
“DuckTales’ has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults,” said Marc Buhaj, SVP, programming and general manager, Disney XD, in a statement. “Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”
Can you give us a Rundown on what duck tales for your new fans who may not know about it
Long Version: Based on decades of outstanding Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge adventure comics by the late, great Carl Barks, DUCKTALES told the story of Scrooge McDuck, renowned adventurer and the richest duck in the world, as he traveled the globe seeking fortune and glory with the help of his “family,” comprised of troublemaking great nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, British nanny Mrs. Beakley, her eager daughter Webby, crash-happy pilot Launchpad, and a whole host of other characters. Throughout their epic adventures both abroad and in their hometown of Duckburg, the Duck family came together to solve mysteries and rewrite history.
Short Version: I’d say it’s Indiana Jones with a bunch of ducks, except Spielberg admits he actually lifted the opening of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK from old Barks comics.
You know what, forget all that stuff. This pretty much covers it:
David Tennant plays Scrooge McDuck, with Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby
Moynihan as Huey, Duey, and Louie, respectively. Toks Olagundoye plays Mrs. Beakley, Beck Bennett plays Launchpad McQuack, and Kate Micucci is Webby Vanderquack
