As sunset junction continues to evolve, new bars and restaurants seem to pop up every weekend. With Bar Stella, Black Cat, Sunset Junction Coffee Shop and Sqirl all opening in the past year, it’s been hard to keep up.
While I love a good stroll through Sunset Junction, shopping has never been it’s strong point. Although there are enough specialty food, beverage and gift shops to last a lifetime, good clothing is few and far between. Knowing this, you can imagine my excitement when I spotted the new stores Bucks & Does (opened May 2013) and MRKT (opened August 2013).
Bucks & Does is a new clothing store for both men and women. Their focus is on “contemporary women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, and accessories with a colorful bohemian aesthetic,” co-owner Laura O'Dell tell’s The Eastsider LA. In addition to their eclectic mix of designers, Bucks and Does features the O'Dell’s brand Porridge, which they have been designing and distributing in LA for over ten years.

MRKT is a little more of a mystery to me, with a shell of a website and not much info to be found online. So far we know it’s a men’s boutique featuring some very cool international and eclectic designers. The last few times I walked by I wasn’t able to see anything through the butcher paper-lined windows, but as of this past weekend, MRKT is open for business, so I will report more soon!
