here’s some old stuff i drew (they made me practice) right before i worked on mr. peabody and sherman show’s season 4 ; v ; (i was a layout artist).
i’ll hopefully bounce back soon to draw more stuff (maybe some more ovw and mass effect who knows)
…i just remembered my supervisor telling me i drew so much LOL i felt so much pressure that time

Who bought Avengers tower?

My husband and I have a list going:

Norman Osborn, which would introduce Green Goblin to the MCU
Vanessa, in control of Wilson Fisk’s assets while he’s in prison, which would put Kingpin on the big screen and bring him closer to facing Spider-Man
Danny Rand, bringing the Defenders to the big screen
Kate Bishop’s dad, meaning we could get the Young Avengers
Martin Li aka Mr Negative, another big villain of Spidey’s
Reed Richards (the longest of long shots), turning Avengers tower into the MCU’s Baxter Building and bringing the Fantastic Four back into the fold

Any other suggestions?

The Girl from Around the Block-Lip Gallagher Imagine

Requested: No

Warnings: some sensuality and language (Shameless imagine, don’t be surprised)

Lip didn’t have many strictly platonic friendships with other girls. In fact, he never considered he was capable of having a relationship with a female that didn’t involve them screwing into oblivion. But Y/N Y/L/N was different. For one thing, they’ve known each other since they were two years old, when Fiona and Hailey, Y/N’s older sister, arranged a play date for the two of them. They bonded over a love of Legos and had been friends ever since. He helped her with homework and she helped him get out of trouble when trying to persuade him from getting into it failed. He taught her how to smoke and she taught him how to play the piano. They were perfect for each other but neither of them would admit it.

“Come on, Lip, you’re telling me that you’ve never thought of asking Y/N out?” Ian asked.

They were smoking on their porch in the hot Chicago summer. Ian had the day off from work and Lip was still thinking up his latest scheme to make money fast.

“Y/N’s like a sister to me, you know. You don’t f—k your sister,” Lip said. “We aren’t royalty or anything.”

Ian laughed. “Well, I’m pretty sure Y/N’s thought of f—cking you, you can see it in her eyes.”

“Shut up.” Lip smacked Ian in the chest, making the ginger laugh.

“Oh, that hurt so bad. Can’t you hit harder, pussy?”

And that led to them wrestling jokingly, making Debbie roll her eyes inside and Carl begin cheering them on. Once they stopped (ie: when Ian pinned Lip down in their front yard), Lip sighed.

“For the record, I let you win.”

“Yeah, whatever.” Ian’s smile disappeared and he looked serious. “So, you’d really never consider getting with Y/N?”

Lip rolled his eyes and shoved Ian off of him. “If you’re so into her, why don’t you date her?”
  “Because I’m gay.”

“Oh yeah, use that excuse.” Lip took another long drag of his cigarette as he stood. “Look, Y/N’s a cool girl and stuff but I can’t see us being serious. I mean, we used to take baths together and I had the pleasure of being the only person with her when she first got her period. There’s too much history.”

As the words left his mouth, Lip knew he was lying to himself. He knew that he was madly in love with his best friend who somehow managed to be sweet but scrappy when it came to defending herself or any of the Gallaghers. Plus, there was the way she threw her head back when she laughed really hard, making her gorgeous y/h/c locks flow around her. Then, there was the way she’d scrunch up her nose whenever she was confused about a homework question. Plus, she was the one who first confronted him about Karen, telling him that he shouldn’t take her kind of bullsh-t anymore. Also, her y/e/c eyes would light up whenever she was staring out at Lake Michigan and she would jump whenever someone/something freaked her out.

Ian glanced behind Lip. “Too much history, huh?”

   “Yep.”

“Then you wouldn’t be too upset at the view behind you right now.”

Lip turned around and what he saw nearly made him drop his cigarette. Across the street, standing on the corner, was none other than Y/N smiling widely as she kissed Will Brooks.

“What’s she doing with him?” Lip asked.

“Well, Lip, it appears as though they’re making out. It probably has to do with the fact that she’s had a crush on him since second semester,” Ian said.

“How the f–k do you know all that?”

“Because I’m the gay friend she tells all this to,” Ian said. “And I can’t blame her. Will is the star of the basketball team, has muscles for days, and is the literal definition of tall, dark, and handsome.”

“He’s an idiot. He thought that a square should count as a rhombus in geometry,” Lip muttered.

   “Someone sounds jealous,” Ian sang.

   “Shut up,” he hissed.

But the green monster was making his blood boil as he watched Y/N laugh at something Will said before hitting his arm playfully. Her smile was beautiful and genuine, if only she was smiling that way for Lip. She kissed Will one last time before circling around him and heading down the street. However, Will didn’t let her get by before swatting her butt and making her jump. Lip could’ve strangled him right then and there.

“Lip, Ian, you are not going to believe what just happened!” Y/N said when she got up to them.

“You got syphilis from that idiot?” Lip asked.

Y/N frowned. “No, but Will did just take me out.”

“Where?” Ian smiled widely and crossed his arms just to spite Lip.

“He took me to lunch and then we walked along Navy Pier, just talking. Your advice worked, Ian!” Y/N squealed as she hugged him.

“Wait, you gave her advice on this?” Lip asked.

“It’s what the gay best friend does,” Ian said.

Y/N turned to Lip and frowned. “Why are you getting so upset about this?”

“Because you didn’t tell me about it.”

“I didn’t think you’d care if I went out with Will. It’s nothing serious.”

“But it might be. The Bulls are looking at Will to draft him. I hear he’s going to be Chicago’s Kobe Bryant.”

“This is the Bulls were talking about, Ian,” Lip said. “Besides, Will get a new girl every week, you should probably just forget about him.”

“For your information, Mr. Negative, we’re actually going out again tomorrow night. He got us Bulls tickets!”
   “Nosebleeds?” Lip asked.

“Nope, near the floor, center court!” Y/N grinned. “I can’t believe this is happening. I never thought that Will would ever notice me.”

“How could he not? You’re gorgeous,” Ian said.

“Just be careful, okay. I don’t like the guy.”

“You don’t like many guys, Lip. Besides, you should be happy for me. Who knows? Maybe one day I’ll get you court-side seats to see the Bulls.”

“No thanks, I’m good.” Lip threw his cigarette down and snuffed it out with his boot. “I’m gonna go take care of some business.”

“What business?” Y/N asked as she began following him down the sidewalk.

“My usual business with Kev,” Lip said.

Y/N’s eyes widened. “Lip, you can’t do that. You’re already high up on the cop’s radar, right behind Carl.”

“I’ve been doing this since we were fourteen, Y/N, I know what I’m doing.”

“But you getting arrested could f—k up your chances with MIT or U of Chicago or any other fancy school,” Y/N argued.

“Hey, why don’t you worry about what dress you’re gonna wear to see Will again and I’ll worry about my future, alright?” Lip snapped.

Y/N flinched at his words. They had had arguments before, but he never got this mean with her. “What’s your problem, Lip? Are you on the rag?”

   “No, just leave me alone.”

“Fine, come around the block when you decide to stop being such a jackass,” Y/N said.

Though her words were sharp, she sounded hurt and it hurt Lip that he had hurt his best friend. As much as he wanted to admit why he was really angry with Y/N, he was too prideful and scared of her reaction to say anything.

For two weeks, Y/N didn’t come by to see the Gallaghers nor did Lip try to go up around the block to see her. Fiona, Ian, Debbie, Carl, Kev, and V did their best not to mention her name whenever Lip was around. But ever since their fight, Lip had begun drinking and smoking more. He was miserable. However, everything came to a head when Fiona confronted him one day.

“Alright, Lip, go talk to her,” Fiona said.

   “What?”

Lip was sitting in the kitchen, drinking coffee while Fiona and Debbie were making breakfast.

“You heard her, we’re sick of seeing you moping around all the time and drunk you is only so entertaining,” Debbie said.

“I don’t want to talk to her. Besides, the only person she’s interested in talking to is Will.” Lip spat out the boy’s name.

“That’s not true,” Ian said as he walked into the kitchen with Liam in his arms, “she talks to me all the time.”

“If I want to talk to her, I’ll talk to her, alright? Can we stop f—king talking about her?” Lip snapped.

Fiona set a plate of eggs and bacon in front of Lip and bent down to his level. “Lip, I know you’ve been in love with Y/N pretty much since the day you met and it must be killing you that you fought and that she’s with Will—”

“Will Brooks? He’s a babe,” Debbie said.

Fiona, Ian, and Lip collectively shot her a look that made her instantly regret her words.

   “Sorry.”

Fiona sighed. “But you need to man up and talk to her. I know this is gonna be hard comin’ from me but I know love when I see it.”

Lip groaned. “She’s not gonna forgive me.”

“She will, we’ve all had to,” Ian said.

Lip playfully shoved him before taking a long swig of coffee. “I’ll be right back.”

“That’s my boy,” V said as she entered the kitchen from the rear entrance.

“Did you hear all of that?” Ian asked.

“For the most part. Please go talk to that girl, I’m sick of seeing you look more pissed off than usual.”

Lip laughed. “I will, see ya, V.”

As he left the house, Lip began going over everything he could possibly say to make everything up to Y/N.

“Hey, Y/N, I’m sorry for being a dick and getting pissed about you and Will. I’m sure the NBA accepts idiots too—no, can’t say that, she’ll get pissed that I insulted him. Y/N, I’m sorry for being a dick and I’m really happy for you and Will. Maybe the Bulls will start winning if he joins. Yeah, that’s better.” Lip paused. “Y/N, you probably hate me, but we have to talk…”

“I thought that only crazy people talked to themselves,” Mandy said as she strolled up to Lip.

   “Oh, hey, Mandy,” he said.

She was wearing a tight black tank top and short denim cut offs. They had a short-lived fling but decided that they were better off as friends. Besides Ian and Lip, Mandy was Y/N’s closest friend.

“I’m guessing that you’re off to talk to Y/N,” Mandy said.

“Yeah, I said some real sh-tty stuff to her and she didn’t deserve it.”

“She never does,” Mandy said. “It’s just too bad about her and Will.”

   Lip frowned. “What happened?”

“You didn’t hear? She found out that he’s been cheating on her ever since they got together. I offered to have my brothers beat him up for her, but she said it wasn’t worth it. I haven’t seen her around in a long time.”

   “Sh-t.”

“Yeah, so whatever you have to say to her, don’t f-ck up.”

   “Thanks, Mandy.”

As Lip walked away from Mandy, he was both elated and furious. He could beat Will’s face in for what he did to Y/N but at the same time, he was ecstatic that she was single again. Now he really had to perfect what he was gonna say.

“Y/N, I’m sorry about what happened between us. You didn’t deserve it and I was just being a dick. I’m also sorry about what happened between you and Will. He deserves to get the sh-t beat out of him.” Lip sighed. “And…and I got so mad about the whole Will thing because, you’re like a sister to me and I didn’t want to lose my sister or my friend…the friend I’ve been in love with since we were two.”

At this point, Lip was standing in front of the Y/L/N’s house. Mr. Y/L/N was most likely back at work in the loan office and Mrs. Y/L/N was off being a maid in the W Hotel. Whether or not Hailey was home was a bit of a toss up since she would skip class more than Lip did. The navy, two-story house seemed a lot bigger than it usually did and part of Lip wanted to turn around and run away.

“Don’t be a pussy,” he muttered.

He walked up the front steps and knocked on the door.

Seconds later, a dog was barking and Hailey was yelling at it.

“Geez!” she blew a piece of dark hair out of her eyes and narrowed them once she saw Lip. “Lip.”

   “Hi, Hailey.”

The barking Rottweiler stopped when he saw Lip and began licking all over his face.

“Hi, Buster,” Lip said as he scratched the dog. “I’ve missed you.”

“Well, he’s missed you too, I don’t know if I can say the same for Y/N,” Hailey said.

Lip sighed as he straightened up. “Look, I know I f-cked up majorly with Y/N and I’m sorry. I just want to apologize and if she doesn’t want to be friends with me anymore, that’s fine, I’ll understand. Is she okay?”

Hailey’s e/c eyes softened slightly at Lip’s words but she kept a tense body language. “She’d be better off if that idiot hadn’t cheated on her weeks after she lost her best friend. But she’ll get through it, she’s tough.”

   “I know, is she here?”

Hailey pursed her lips. “That Will guy might’ve hurt her but you really broke her heart, you know that, Gallagher?”

   “Yeah…”

“I could kill you for how much you made her cry and then Will on top of that—” Hailey breathed.

“And I’ll do my best to never make her cry again. Believe me, the last thing I want is to hurt her.”

Lip hoped his sincerity showed through since Hailey was one of the most stubborn people when it came to protecting her family and doing what she thought was right.

“She went to the Symphony. They let her listen to the music from the entry way as long as she doesn’t disturb anyone.”

“Thanks, Hailey, I really appreciate it.”

The L couldn’t have operated any slower that day, which made Lip even more anxious. He began chain smoking, hoping it would help him think more, but it didn’t. It calmed him down a little, but he still had no idea what he was going to say to her. Fortunately, downtown wasn’t very crowded and it was easy for him to find his way to the Symphony. Sure enough, Y/N was sitting near one of the door, cross-legged, listening intently to the passionate music. She looked gorgeous though she was wearing a simple white summer dress that went off the shoulders. Her hair was twisted up into a pretty bun on top of her head and her back was facing Lip.

He carefully walked up to her, his mind racing with words.

   “Mind if I join you?”
Y/N gestured for him to sit without turning away from the door. Her eyes were puffy and he could tell that she had been crying.

“Y/N, I need to talk to you.”

    “Sh, it’s Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9,” Y/N hissed.

“Oh, right, sorry.” Lip managed to say quiet for five more seconds before saying, “no, you know what, f-ck the music, you can get this sh–t on YouTube or iTunes. We need to talk.”

“Keep your voice down or we’ll get kicked out,” Y/N said quietly.

“Fine, but at least look at me when I talk?”
Y/N hesitated before turning to Lip. “Talk.”

Lip paused. Everything he had rehearsed seem to leave his mind. “You’re beautiful.”

Y/N rolled her eyes. “Go away, Lip.”

“No, I’m serious. Even though that a—hole made you cry and did all that to you, you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. Always have been.”

There was a long pause between them but Y/N looked stunned.

“Is that all you have to say to me?”

“No, I’m sorry about what happened between us. I shouldn’t have gotten so pissed off about you and that jerk.”

“You were a real jackass,” Y/N muttered.

“I know, and you didn’t deserve that. And I’m sorry about what happened—-no, you know what, f-ck that, I’m not sorry. He didn’t deserve to be with you because you are amazing and sweet and talented and tough and strong. He doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air as you and neither do I.”

Y/N looked stunned but suddenly looked dejected. “If I’m all those things, why did he cheat on me with Ashley Opperman, Jane Henkins, Mariah Little, Penny Gilbert, Vanessa Langley, and Iman Ashton?”

“Because he’s an idiot who’s probably trying to get the clap if he got anywhere near Vanessa Langley,” Lip said.

Y/N smiled. “I think she’s had ever STD under the sun besides AIDs.”

Lip smiled. “I’m so sorry about everything that happened between us, Y/N. Is there any way you could forgive me?”
Y/N jokingly tapped her finger against her chin. “If you teach me how make things explode using that fancy technical vocabulary, maybe.”

   “Of course.”

“And you help me pass my ACT.”

   “Okay.”

“And you come to my piano concerts.”

   “I already do.”

   “Sober, though.”

“Then you’ll have to play something less boring.”

   “Deal.”

They jokingly shook hands before Y/N wrapped her arms around Lip and basically fell into his lap. He immediately pulled her close, inhaling her sweet scent.

    “I’ve missed this,” she whispered.

    “I love you.”

They both froze. Lip couldn’t have said that any less smoothly if he tried. He couldn’t believe that he had blurted it out like that.

Y/N pulled away slowly and looked at him with wide eyes. “Lip?”

“I’ve loved you since we first met and I fell in love with you around the same time, I think. It drove me crazy seeing you with Will and I’m sorry I was so mean to you. If you don’t feel the same way then—”

Lip was cut off as Y/N pressed her lips against his. He immediately pulled her closer as he kissed back. All those emotions they had for the past sixteen years came out in that exchange. They were so caught up they not only forgot where they were but also that they would need to pull away for air.

“Eh hem.” An elderly security guard looked at them with distaste.

    “What’s your problem?” Lip asked.

“Sorry, Ivan, we’ll be leaving now.”

“No, that’s fine, Y/N, just try to ease up on all of that.” Ivan gestured to their current position.

   “You got it, Ivan.”

He wandered away and Lip pulled Y/N into him again.

“So, I’m guessing you like me too?”

“No, I love you, I thought as smart as you are, you would’ve caught onto that when we were at least four,” Y/N teased.

“Well, I’m smart enough to never let you go again.”

   “Good.”

And that was how after many years, Lip Gallagher ended up with the girl from around the block.

Cloak and Dagger: a guide for people who do not know them

So I have seen people who watched the trailer and say to themselves, “I don’t know anything about them, but…” And I am like, “well let me tell you.”

Cloak, Tyrone Johnson, and Dagger, Tandy Bowen, were just typical teens. Well they were runaway teens who were fleeing from trouble in their life. Tyrone was fleeing from the cops because he is a black man in 1980s America. And Tandy was fleeing from a sexually abusive home.

And then someone took them in any gave them super powered experimental heroine and then bam, they are the physical embodiment of a Rorschach painting. Okay I’ll let them elaborate.

So they gained their powers which has the unfortunate, but also true implication that drugs give you super powers. Yeah.

Sure, I’ll take your word for it.

Okay, so they were experimented on by a Doctor Simon Marshall who created Mr. Negative, a Chinese Smuggler, who was distributing the drug that created Cloak and Dagger. Anyways, the duo were not the most forgiving of vigilantes at the start.

They were angry pissed off teens. At first, in their debut, Spider-man was fervently against them. And then he learned of their tragic origin, and let’s say he was bought in.

Jesus, 1970s comics were so corny.

The above probably won’t be pertinent to the show because they are most likely dropping the drug origins because Disney is a bunch of punks.

Anyways, Cloak has the power to bring the void or the Darkforce which allows him to consume people into a place that absorbs any source of light from people’s bodies. He can also teleport and shit.

His power has a huge drawback which forces him to hunger and want to consume as much light as possible. He also can’yt wear normal clothes outside the titular “cloak.” He is pretty much a void. So dude is a walking Eldrich Abomination.

Dagger has the power to create light daggers and produce light as pictured above. She has a large supply of light that allows Cloak to feed without this comic turning into a Stephen King novel.

Of course, her power has drawbacks too.

So they need each other to survive from being monsters.

Now you would think that light and darkness and people of the opposite sex would be in some sort of relationship since they literally are all they know and only depend on each other, but nope. I mean I have seen hetero couples become items off of pure unadulterated bullshit and be spontaneously fucking and shit on a whim, but two characters that have been around one another and slept, non-sexually, with each other have not ever been an item in their 30 year history.

Until Bendis decided to indulge his interracial pairing kick and made the two lovers in the Ultimate Universe.

While I am at it, I might as well do an Ultimate Universe interpretation of the duop because I suspect they are borrowing from that adaptation as well.

Cloak and Dagger were just typical teens who were School Presidents at their respective schools. They met each other at a fast food joint, went to prom, and then got into an accident.

They were declared dead in the accident and their comatose bodies were abducted by Roxxon after Roxxon lied to their parents saying that they died in a hospital accident.

Why is Mr. Sinister, Layla Miller, Dr. Zola, and Dr. Samual Sterns involved? These are Ultimate Universe things.

Anyways, they wake up.

D’aaaaawwwwww

Okay, it is shame that Netflix is not picking up the series because…could you imagine the sex?

No really, it is not like typical super human rough sex that Twilight likes to imagine as great sex. I am talking about truly aesthetically pleasing sex. Not great as in the actual intercourse, but like a firework show in a black hole kind of thing. Like a Jackson Pollock Painting.

I can’t be the only one. I mean having these two get together and depicting the intercourse would be immaculate.

It would be beautiful.

Oh, don’t act like I am the only one who thought about this? No don’t you look at me like that, motherfucker. I am not alone. Don’t kinkshame me.

Marvel: Johnny and Ben will be teaming up in Marvel 2 in 1, but the fans just won’t support a full fantastic 4 book right now…

Me: Not even a one shot for Kirby’s Birthday?

The problems with Miles Morales atm

First article for hellyeahteensuperheroes so I’ll just say this: I am an avid Spider-man fan. Spider-man is the prototypical teen superhero after all so while Peter Parker is grown up selling his marriages to the devil, owning a tech company, and not having life insurance, we would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge that Spider-man’s mythos started as the awkward teen in high school. In fact, that is how the majority of his media introduces him to the audience as, a kid.

So honestly, someone needs to fill in the void of teenaged Spider-man. And that person was…Peter Parker himself in the Ultimate Universe which was a modern take of Spider-man. This is probably the most acclaimed, adapted, and successful comic series in recent memory to the point, Marvel honestly considered making the Ultimate Universe the default Universe…Until Loeb took that idea and flooded it with the most notorious comic event that is comparable to One More Day.

So Ultimate Peter Parker was still the teenaged Peter Parker with a lot of great stories. However, with plans of Universe shifting derailed, Ultimate Peter Parker ,as great as he was. had one glaring problem: He was becoming 616 Peter Parker over again.

You can make Green Goblin the Hulk, change Eddie Brock to Peter’s brother figure, make the Shocker to a joke, and have Peter Parker and Kitty Pryde date; but at the end of the day, you are essentially retelling the same story of a character who still exists in another way in the present. What is the point of Ultimate Peter Parker if he was going to become 616 Peter Parker who still had comics(terrible comics, but I digress)?

Long story short, they killed Peter Parker and Miles Morales took his place.

Miles’ entire purpose is to resemble those old classic Spider-man stories of a young Spider-man from a perspective of a person who was different than Peter, physically and mentally. There are plenty of black people who relate to Spider-man, but Peter Parker as a character cannot relate to them as black people deal with some other shit than Peter who ranted at a group of protestors for sticking to the man and was one of those white anarcho-capitalists who champion Ayn Rand.

Brian Michael Bendis initially was doing so well with Miles Morales. The first 13 issues of Miles Morales’ Spider-man should be textbook examples of how to do an origin story. And then shit happened. Here is the shit.

1. Miles lacks Spider-man esque villains

What separates Spider-man villains and everybody else’s villains is that Spider-man’s villains tie into both his life as Spider-man and Peter Parker. Mr. Negative, Martin Li, ran a charity that Aunt May works at. Dr. Otto Octavius is the mirror of Spider-man and Peter Parker in that they are both brilliant and talented minds, but unlike Peter, Otto resented his peers and embraced his status as an outcast as Peter grew out of that phase. Dr. Connor is his mentor and professor in college. Green Goblin is the father of his best friend and sometimes is that best friend. Eddie Brock, Venom, is a jealous co-worker and competitor of Peter Parker who resented that Peter was able to take glorified selfies and gain success over him.

Even in the Ultimate Universe…well even more in the Ultimate Universe, Peter’s villains related to him as not just Spider-man, but also Peter Parker. It is what makes his rogues galley different than Batman or Superman.

And Miles is honest to god devoid of that. There are only two villains that exemplify Spider-man villains: Katie Bishop and Aaron Davis. The former was not so great, but had potential. The latter was probably one of the greatest villains in the decade, but was killed off. Miles has been around for 5 years and he has only developed two villains of his own that resemble Spider-man villains. The rest of his RG are essentially Peter’s who hate Miles because he is Peter’s legacy, and that is not okay.

This is a common problem for all new super heroes in this day and age. Because their respective universe have become so cluttered with the pasts, it is hard for them to gain a foothold of their own.

2. Crossover events

This shit fucking kills me about Miles Morales. I understand that for the sake of Miles’ longevity and prevalence, you need to give him as much exposure as possible. And that is okay. I am okay with Miles joining teams like the Young Ultimates, the revamped Avengers, or the Champions. However, I am not okay these huge crossover events becoming overbearing to his development as a character.

Ultimate Comics Spider-man 13-18(United We Stand/Divided We Fall)

Ultimate Comics Spider-man 29-31(Cataclysm)

Miles Morales: the Ultimate Spider-man 12(the end was rushed because of Secret Wars)

Spider-man 6-10(Civil War II)

Spider-man 11-14(Spider-Gwen crossover)

There are 50 Miles Morales book focused comics. 19 of them are universe expanding crossover events that he is heavily involved in. Luckily Secret Empire has strayed away from having Miles’ comics involved, but that is bad. Nearly half of this dudes stories get hijacked by these events that rarely if ever character build.

Miles’ constant criticism of his stories is that he does not have a lot of stories of his own to tell and part of that has to do with these distractions because that is what they are: distractions. If Civil War II did something for Miles’ character I would be okay with it, but for most of his part in that event, Miles was just going with the tide utterly confused as to what is happening. The only thing that the event established for Miles is that he fears that his anger might make him go too far, and you do not need that convoluted mess of Civil War II to reflect that.

Miles would have more enemies if Bendis stopped with the incessant events and focused on creating enemies that serve as foils to Miles Morales.

3. Too much focus on Peter Parker

Being that Miles is a legacy of Peter Parker, of course Peter is going to be mentioned and relevant to Peter. For all intents and purposes, Peter is awesome at just letting Miles be.

But Bendis….

Let me set the tone. Miles Morales and the Ultimate Universe survived Cataclysm and Galactus. The Ultimate Universe is revamped to three comics series. You have a mostly female and devoid of white men team(the All-New Ultimates). You have another female led team that explored mythos of the Ultimate Universe(Ultimate FF). And you have Miles Morales as the face of the entire universe and it is touted for once as Miles taking ownership of being Spider-man. It was about him. This was a fresh start with new stories. There is a mystery of Miles’ girlfriend. There was a thing with Roxxon. Miles’ dad was missing after he found out about Miles being Spider-man. There were so many stories and so much possibility.

First issue

Mother FUCK!

This ran for 6 issues of Miles inaugural re-debut as the Spider-man. The first 6 issues of Miles revamp was about Peter Parker. Miles was playing secondary to Peter Parker and we were rehashing the same story development as Spider-men. Miles has already received the approval of a Peter Parker. A more experienced Peter Parker at that. So there was no character development for Miles to be had here.

This story from the looks of it was to gave Ultimate Peter Parker and Mary Jane closure…which ruins the point because Peter got closure in his death and his funeral. Mary Jane may have needed some closure, but to have it wasted on a resurrection was bullshit when she could have done something to ensure Miles did not meet the same fate or run into the same obstacles. Y’know, actually be a supporting character and taking responsibility of him? But we really just had to appease those Peter Parker fans who have so little exposure to Peter(sarcasm).

The first six issues of Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-man were about Peter Parker. Not Miles Morales.

So if we are keeping count, that is 25 issues that had fuck all to do with Miles Morales. Half of Miles main comics are not about him as a character. And that is bad. Half of those comics could have been used to develop him or his villains.

4. The switch from the Ultimate Universe to the 616

One day I am going to do the differences between Miles Morales and Peter Parker, but right now, I will summarize. To Peter Parker, Spider-man was an escapist adventure. He enjoys being Spider-man more than his normal. It allows him to be a snarky and fun character and it allows the audience to get in on the act as well because they too want to use Spider-man as means of escapism.

Miles, however, is completely different.

Miles is the classical anti-hero. Being a superhero or more specifically, being Spider-man causes more problems for Miles than it solves them. Miles, initially was not thrilled that he had Spider-powers.

It’s a burden to him. He is only Spider-man because in the Ultimate Universe, Peter Parker died. Also in the Ultimate Universe, there are very few superheroes running around protecting people.

Being Spider-man only caused Miles problems. His genial relationship with his Uncle became toxic. His relationship with his father could be summed up as if Jonah Jameson was Peter Parker’s dad and at every dinner, daddy would talk shit about what you as Spider-man did unaware that he was talking shit about his own son. His mom was killed in a Spider-man related battle which involved him.

Miles is Spider-man because no one else, but him, can be. It is metaphorically thrusted on him. He doesn’t want superpowers. He wanted a normal life.He wanted to go to school and have fun. Unlike Peter, Miles is not picked on at school and his not a social outcast. It helps that he is at a charter school with a bunch of nerds, but the point is that his normal life was satisfying to him and as soon as being Spider-man becomes too much for him, he ditches the outfit and tries his damnest to live a normal life.

Him being in the 616 Universe ruins the point of him. It derails his character in that in a world were Peter Parker not only still lives, but there are also several superheroes who are more than happy to fill in a role and have the purpose to do so, Miles has no motivation to be Spider-man anymore. And it is not like being Spider-man has becomes less burdensome for him with the switch. Miles’ main reason of being Spider-man has vanished.

5. Poor Social Commentary

I have so many problems with these panels.

First, this girl specifically mentions the possibility that Miles may be Latino. She says that he is brown so the dialogue is disjointed and Miles problem with her becomes a non-issue and he is annoyed for no reason.

Second, he has a problem being identified as the Black Spider-man. But you are black and Spider-man so you are both. It sounds like he is ashamed of being black because he acts defensive towards being identified as black as if a person is supposed to immediately recognize that looking at him.

Third, Hispanic is not the proper identifier. Latino is. No self-respecting LatinX would call themselves Hispanic unless they are from Spain. Miles should know this and every time he refers to himself as Hispanic, it questions if he is aware of those roots that he will gladly use in defense if someone calls him black.

Fourth, how in the fuck does Miles not recognize the importance of a black Spider-man? A kid in New York in times where their is heightened racial tension does not understand the big deal of being a black superhero. “Why does it matter?” he asks when black people are being shot up by the police because they are a perceived threat. Black people are being incriminated and are being massively incarcerated and targeted. The fact that Miles does not get this yet says to Luke Cage in person that he(Luke Cage) is the only super hero that his father respects. Gee, I wonder why, Miles?

Fifth, you do not need this faux post-racial commentary to make Miles sound profound. More importantly, he sounds like a white person who has no clue about racism. The fact of the matter is that the majority of Miles Morales’ fandom loves him because he is the black Spider-man and shaming them for doing so is the wrong move and turns people off. The girl literally sounds like a stereotypical SJW r what people perceive SJWs are like and Marvel already has a bad reputation of attacking those people(Nick Spencer) while at the same time trying to appeal to them over DC.

But there is more cringey Social Commentary in the hands of a writer who does not quite get it.

The oppression Olympics debate! First off, intersectionality is not a matter of whom is more oppressed than whom. It is to understand that people are oppressed in several ways. So Ganke pointing out that Miles is skinny and black while Ganke is fat and Asian completely misses the point of intersectionality because he is trying to say that he is more oppressed than Miles while erasing the fact the Miles faces racial injustice that can get him killed. And I am not erasing being fat and Asian, and I am just pointing out that there are better ways to have this discourse without turning it into a haphazard “Who suffers the most” dick measuring contest.

Also, Miles calls himself Hispanic as if his mom does not look like Beyonce and it counts as half.

There is a lot holding back Miles from developing into his own Spider-man. Hopefully in the future, this gets rectified because I want Miles to succeed.

Neighbours | GOT 7 Gang au

CHAPTER 1

Her story starts when she was at the checkout at her local’s super market on a rainy Thursday afternoon. It was dull outside and the rain was so heavy, it was bouncing off the roads up onto people’s ankles like someone was standing next to them deliberately stomping in a puddle next to them.

Rose, a 17-year-old orphan was having her ear chewed off by an old checkout lady who was rambling on about her fourth divorce. Rose wasn’t one for making conversation so she just smiled, frowned and nodded her head when really all she could think about is whether she should use the beef or chicken seasoning on her ramen noodles for dinner.

Rose’s family all died tragically in a house fire when she was 14, her house went up in flames with her family in it, Rose was on a school trip half way across the world when it happened.

Her parents were wealthy sales people whom had thankfully left Rose plenty of money to live off, along with a will stating that Rose was not to go to an orphanage but to be sent to her family’s holiday house to live.

Fortunately, her holiday house was close to where their original house was so Rose could still go to school and live somewhat close to where she used too. Keep in mind that this will was written for Rose and her 2 older brothers however they are now with their parents, who are up with the big man upstairs.

Rose, a sarcastic, witty, somewhat rude and brutally honest 17-year-old girl is now living in that holiday house, on her own. She bought herself a cat after her family passed away and named him Smithers and for her 17th birthday, decided to gift herself with a great dane puppy, his name ironically, is Tiny.

After finally getting away from the cashier, she begins to walk outside in the rain to her car. She doesn’t mind the rain so she casually walked to her car while everyone around her were running frantically trying to get out of the rain. Once she reaches her car, she puts the bags in the front seat and starts her car and begins to drive herself to the enormous, 7 bedroom, 13 bathroom mansion she now calls home.

As she pulls into her driveway she looks to the house beside hers that has been up for sale for some time now and notices a big truck and a bunch of shirtless guys outside moving boxes. They don’t notice her but she sure as hell noticed them, I mean, who wouldn’t, 7 or so shirtless, toned, hot as fuck humans of the male species in about their 20’s, sweating, moving boxes right next to her house.

All her life, Rose has loved a good flirt and has never ever in her lift, feared confronting boys. Regardless of the hot shirtless boys in the driveway next to hers, she was still going to go for her daily run and she is still going to do her stretches on her driveway beforehand.

She jumps out of her car with her bags of groceries in her hands and walks inside and puts them away and greets her animals before running up the stairs to her wardrobe room. What? She has 7 rooms in this house and one person, why not renovate one room into her wardrobe.

She goes over to her workout closes and changes into a black sports bra and black gym shorts with a Fluro yellow stripe down the side before putting her hair into high pony, letting little fly away’s frame her face and putting on her black pair of Nike roshe’s.

She gives herself a final check before looking outside the window noticing the guys were still out there standing talking, still shirtless. This is what she wears every day when she goes to run, it’s just a coincidence that there are hot guys watching.

She walks down the steps and grabs Tiny’s leash.

“TINY?” WANNA GO FOR A RUN WITH ME BABY?” she yells through the house as it echoes. She then begins to count;

“Three” she whispers

“two”

Before she could even hit one she hears frantic panting and then hears the sound of Tiny’s paws on the floor boards until he is sitting right in front of her with his head held high waiting for her to attach his leash to his colour.

She laughs as she clips it on and begins to walk him out the door, leaving her phone on the counter, as she’d prefer to listen to the crashing waves from the beach hear her house the music.

As she closes the door, she hears laughs coming from next door. She turns to lock the door but accidently let go of Tiny’s leash, setting him free.
“TINY” she yells as she watches him run, of course, to the guys next door.
“fucking dog” she mutters to herself before running after him.

Once she crosses over to their driveway she stops, seeing 6 boys crowded around her dog patting him and cooing whilst another is standing up on the platform of the truck screaming.

“AWH he’s adorable” one says

“HOLY SHIT ITS MASSIVE, LITERALLY HIS HEAD IS LONGER THEN MY LEG” the one up on the truck yells

“Hyung, can we get one? PLEASE?”

“Bambam I’ve already got 6 dogs to take care of why would I want to get another?” the older one says

“because it’s cute then us” BamBam I’m assuming reply’s back as I laugh

“You make a fair point boy” he laughs as he continues to pat the dog.

She lowkey admires how they are acting around her dog because when most people see him, she back away or turn the other way, or, kinda like that one guy is now, jumps up on a truck away from him. She decides to speak up.

“Hey sorry I didn’t mean to let him go, sorry if he’s being a hassle or stopping you from moving your stuff” she speaks up from behind them. One by one they all turn and stare at the beauty before them. Rose laughed as they all stopped patting Tiny and now he’s looking at them for more attention.

With the guys still frozen she decides to call Tiny to come to her.

“Tiny, come here boy” she speaks loudly as the guy on the truck jumps down and questions her.

“Tiny? Dumb name, The dog is fucking huge” he exclaims earning a nudge from one of the guys. Rose smirks.

“Wish I could say the same about your biceps babe” she retorts earning snickers from the other 6 and a growl from Mr Negative.

“I’m Rose by the way” she says as she waves. the one who seems to looks as though he is in charge speaks up.

“I’m JB” he says with a smile, he looks next to him waiting for them to introduce themselves and surely enough, one speaks up.

“I’m in love” the younger boy next to him says before earning a smack over the head by JB.

“That’s BamBam, he’s a bit out of it at the moment” he awkwardly laughs and Rose just giggles. JB continues after noticing that none of the other guys are in any condition to introduce themselves.

“This is Mark” he says pointing to the guy at the very end of the line who looks up and waves as Rose waved back.

“Youngjae” he says pointing to the boy next to Mark, Rose Waves and he just blushes and looks away

“Jinyoung” he points to the boy next to himself, letting him wave before moving onto the 6 other boys on the other side of him

“You’ve met BamBam” he says before Rose waves at him before moving on.

“this is Jackson, you guys just met before” he says with a laugh and Jackson pouts but Rose smiles and waves, Jackson looks behind him before realising that Rose was waving at him before waving back with a goofy smile on his face”

“and at the end, that’s Yugyeom, he’s the youngest” Rose’s eye sight follows JBs arm before her eyes land on him.

now there is no doubt that they are all extremely attractive, but Yugyeom is the one that really catches her eye. He winks at her and she blushes, something she hasn’t done, ever when talking to a boy.

“Well it was nice to meet you all but I’m going to go for a run now” she says as she waves and begins to walk off. She hears goodbyes behind her and a wolf whistle, she turns back to see JB hitting Yugyeom over the head, she laughs and winks at her as he smiles and begins to wrestle JB.
“oh boy” she whispers to herself as she begins to run.

Spider-man #18: Few steps forward, one step back

Overall, decent issue.

The Positive

The focus on Rio Morales has been much appreciated and needed.

For the longest, the narrative never explicitly told you what exactly Miles’ parents do. Of course, during the early stages of Miles Morales, it was not exactly necessary because Miles was the focus and that is how it works in a lot of teen fiction. However, in the case of Spider-man or more specifically, teen Spider-man, the family situation eventually becomes an issue. I looked up Rio’s occupation, and momma is making bank. She is supposedly making around 100k a year. This Spider-man is not going to have problems covering the family bill because momma smell like gas, water, electricity and mortgage.

Anyways, the relationship between Miles and Rio definitely needed refinement because we really did not know much about her other than that she is Miles’ mom, Jefferson’s wife, and that she was the sweetest and most endearing mother ever. And Bendis delivered on explaining what she is to both Miles Morales and Miles as Spider-man.

This is what Bendis is best known for. He is terrible at bombastic overly packed action packed scenarios(Civil War II, the X-Men). He can’t really drive team books because since he loves character building and takes a pain-stakingly long time doing so, you have scenarios of the Avengers not doing much but playing Poker.  Give Bendis heroes that have normal upbringings, aren’t too extraordinary like Jessica Jones, Matt Murdoch, Peter Parker, and Miles, and allow him to focus on them and we have a good series.

The What?

Not necessarily bad, but someone please explain this scene to me.

Is that like how his power works or something? He has to go full Hodor and scream Goldballs to get going. I don’t know what Goldballs does because as far as i know, he was an X-Men and I am one of the people of the mods that hate the X-Men. I do not know anything about his character prior to this comic and from what I’ve seen of him here, nothing makes me want to investigate or research him.

The Bad

Let’s start with the minor issue first.

Black Cat’s role makes no sense.

Okay, I admit it. Like every Felicia Hardy fan worth their existence, I absolutely hate that Black Cat is being made a villain. It goes against her entire character and everything that she is to Spider-man. But that is not a Bendis problem, that is a Slott problem.

Her entire plan about Spider-man(Miles) makes no fucking sense. It could be summed up as put a bounty on super hero because he could fuck up my operation despite the fact that he does not know anything about you or your operation. All you are doing is making the superhero privy of your existence. It makes no fucking sense.

And yet, here she says after Miles busted up one of her operations, that him busting up her operation that he would have no idea  that it existed, and still does not know of, if you did not kidnap him and put a fucking bounty on him for no reason.

What frustrates me about this is that “Crime villains” like Kingpin or Tombstone or Mr. Negative are handled so much smarter than this. Even Bendis has done a Kingpin arc in both Ultimate Spider-man and Daredevil that were a fuck ton better and smarter than this.

I am not sure if there is this general creative idea among the Marvel writers to make Felicia look incompetent as a mob boss, but i everything she is in save for Silk, she looks incompetent.

Why is Felicia placing a bounty on Miles and not Peter Parker? It is not like he is hard to find because it is widely known that Peter is the Chief of Security for Parker Industries. If anyone is more of a threat to her, it is Peter Parker or even fucking Moon Knight. Spider-man is not an investigative meddling hero like Batman or Daredevil. He only reacts to crime when it is happening and just happens upon shit where he begins to intentionally meddle and investigate. Felicia knows this better than anybody. So I do not know why she is so bothered by Miles as if he will be different.

Why is Felicia so intent on messing with Spider-people on general? I do not get it. She was screwing with Cindy Moon in her series as well and now she is messing with Miles.

Next big problem…well.

I am lost because nothing in Lana’s relationship with Miles ever indicated that they were romantic or him going to avenge her crushing defeat would ever allow her to draw a conclusion that it was out of romance and not out of bounds of their general relationship.

It is not that I am adverse to a relationship between the two as it is so much better than Miles and Gwen Stacey. It just seems…rushed. That is something no one has ever said about a Brian Michael Bendis written piece of material.

I literally had to go back and look in any detail of romance or even interest in Miles from her. And I could not find any. Of course, Bendis has yet to explain exactly what her origin is in 616 and if it is any different from the Ultimate Universe.

But since her origin does not impede the bounds of 616 and actually makes sense, let’s assume that she is the same Lana Baumgartner. Part of Lana Baumgartner’s story is that she is a girl whose mother brought her into crime. She serves as a foil to Miles in that his father figure in Aaron Davis also was a criminal who tried to use Miles ability for crime as well. Lana is what could have happened if Miles broke bad. Also, like Miles, Lana is haunted by her criminal past or her parent’s criminal history. The difference between the two is that Miles has the legacy of Spider-man to uphold and Lana…doesn’t. She is only using her power for good to keep from doing bad.

This is why they bond.

As someone who followed Lana’s story as she constantly tried to redeem herself and use her powers for good, I am a little disappointed that she may be turning evil. But as I’ve said before, right now, Miles lacks Spider-man-esque villains and Lana fits the criteria of idea Spider-man villains.

The issue that I am having right now is how it looks to be happening. Instead of Lana being forced to turn because of her situation or anything relating to her situation, it hints at a woman scorned angle…just like Black Cat and Peter Parker. Holy shit. But Lana is so much better than that shitty parallel. She honestly deserves better than this if this is where Bendis is taking it.

Overall, it was a decent issue.
