In March 27th of 2007, Cassandra Clare’s City of Bones was published for the first time by Margaret K. McElderry Books
“We’re called Shadowhunters. At least, that’s what we call ourselves. The Downworlders have less complimentary names for us.” “Downworlders?” “The Night Children. Warlocks. The fey. The magical folk of this dimension.” Clary shook her head. “Don’t stop there. I suppose there are also, what, vampires and werewolves and zombies?” “Of course there are,” Jace informed her. “Although you mostly find zombies farther south, where the voudun priests are.” “What about mummies? Do they only hang around Egypt?” “Don’t be ridiculous. No one believes in mummies.” - Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

From Entertainment Weekly: “Cassandra Clare’s City of Bones — the first installment in her riveting Mortal Instruments series — turns 10 this year.
To commemorate this milestone, City of Bones is getting a stunning new anniversary edition, packed with brand new content. EW can reveal both the 10th anniversary cover (a cloth-over-board jacket with text and art stamped in foil) as well as six full-color character portraits that will appear in the new book. The book also features chapter header illustrations, black-and-white illustrations scattered throughout the book, and The Clave’s Confidential Files on our favorite characters, written by Clare herself. (top sekrit info on the characters, including birthdays, scars and major weaknesses ;)
Check out the cover and the back, printed with the iconic ALL THE STORIES ARE TRUE. The 10th anniversary edition of City of Bones will be out Nov. 7, 2017, but is available for pre-order now.” Entertainment Weekly’s story is up along with a portrait of Jace: http://ew.com/books/2017/06/27/cassandra-clare-city-of-bones-anniversary-cover/
So I just got the 10th anniversary edition of City Of Bones and I was flicking through the clave files and came across something in Alec’s file. I don’t know if anyone has picked up on this yet.
“If he is freed from his bond with Jonathan, he should be recommended for promotion”
It is clearly not talking about exile because he would be “recommended for promotion” and I doubt they are talking about killing Jace because the Clave is brutal but would they really talk about killing one of their strongest members in official documents?
Does this mean there is another way to break the parabatai bond that the Clave is keeping secret, it wouldn’t surprise me.
I feel like this information was put in the new edition to hint at what may come in Queen of Air and Darkness for Emma and Julian.

“My name is Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern. I had a father but he is dead. I have a mother but she is dead to me. I have a brother and I will bind him to me. I have a sister and I will teach her to love me. My name is Jonathan, but everyone calls me Sebastian. And I am going to burn down the world.”
10 Years ago the first edition of City of Bones was released and the world got introduced to Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane. These two characters impacted the lives of many back then and continue to do so. Happy 10th anniversary to the start of something beautiful.
