Look, other bands, they want to make it about sex or pain, but you know, The Beatles, they had it all figured out, okay? “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” The first single. It’s effing brilliant, right?… That’s what everybody wants, Nicky. They don’t want a twenty-four-hour hump sesh, they don’t want to be married to you for a hundred years. They just want to hold your hand.

On Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

Nick and Norah is one of my favorite gay movies and it doesn’t have a gay protagonist. I know that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but the movie is essentially a straight dude whose friends are exclusively gay and they have a band together.

Though they are secondary characters to a straight romance they are still incredibly interesting and dynamic. The plotline follows this group of weirdos as they run around New York City in search of an indie band, while the three gay friends try to set Nick up with Norah (a girl who isn’t a total ass) and the lot of them are also in search of Norah’s crazy, intoxicated friend who is lost somewhere in the city.

It’s honestly one of my favorite movies all around. I consider it like a comfort movie, a fallback when I can’t find something new to check out. It’s so funny and cute and charming and I really liked the soundtrack. So if you haven’t seen it maybe give it a chance!
