victuuri headcanons #5

victor gets weirdly obsessed with some american monster hunting show. “it’s a scam,” yuuri informs him. the people on the tv screaming curses and shaking the camera don’t seem to care. victor shakes his head, engrossed in the episode.

“i know,” victor says. “but it’s fun. and very silly. they’re hunting bigfoot. what is bigfoot?”

“i don’t know,” yuuri says.
“they call bigfoot a cryptid,” victor repeats. “i don’t know what that means. but bigfoot is one.” yuuri nods and has a vivid flashback to the poster phichit made him during his first few runs in the skating circuit where yuuri avoided interviews and press like the plague. ‘rare strange sighting: gay skating cryptid katuski yuuri’ phichit captioned it, with a blurry image of yuuri eating chips on the couch in their dorm with a guilty expression.

“do you think i could meet bigfoot?” victor muses. “would he ask for my autograph, or would i ask for his?”

“he’d ask for mine,” yuuri answers mildly. “i’m the true cryptid.”

Journey to the Mountains

Black Panther’s sister, Shuri (Letitia Wright), accompanies Nakia and Ramonda, his mother (played by Angela Bassett), on a mission into the icy regions of Wakanda, where treacherous M'Baku (Winston Duke, not pictured) rules the mountain tribe. Along for the trip is CIA operative Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman), one of the few outsiders welcomed into the reclusive nation. “We could make five movies only about Panther and his world because it’s so rich,” says producer Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios.

The Skeptical American

In Civil War, CIA operative Everett K. Ross was a no-nonsense government functionary. Freeman describes him as “completely, totally competent” rather than a goofy comic relief sidekick. In this film, he earns T'Challa’s trust as they work together pursuing the mercenary Ulysses Klaue, who has stolen some of Wakanda’s most closely held secrets.

Villain Meets Ally

There’s geek history in this pairing, too. And not just Gollum vs. Bilbo. (That’s a different universe.) “Klaue is the first [Panther] villain appearing in 1966,” Feige notes. “Everett Ross showed up 10 or 12 years ago in the [Christopher] Priest run in Panther comics. It’s always fun to pick these characters and put them in together.”

This is a fic for my anniversary celebration for the following:
- “H-how long have you been standing there? @thebakerstboyskeeper
+ “After everything you’ve done, you’re asking me to apologize for snapping at your once?” @anonymous

“Mahal’s sake!” Fili frightened you as he burst through the door, “I swear, it never ends.”

“Mmhmm, so it seems,” You set down the book you had been reading in the privacy of your solar.

Several times you had been disturbed by both Durins as they complained of their own wounds or those of their uncle. Fili’s arm was still in a sling and he hunched rather awkwardly as he walked, though he seemed to have forgotten his pain in his irritation. Kili’s ribs had been cracked and so he kept to a moderate pace, but both princes had recovered marvelously compared to the king.

“I can’t believe that horse’s arse,” He sat across from you, taking your unamused gaze as an invitation, “You know, he threw his dinner at me? After I brought it too him?”

A tough, short muscular race of people the Dwarves are a tradition abiding folk. Known for their strong family ties, martial traditions and beautiful craftsmanship. The Dwarven Empire were originally 5 separate mountain kingdoms who would war over territory with each other or rally together to fight their favorite and recurring enemy Goblins.

Physical attributes for the Dwarves:

Skin Colour: Pale, Deep Tan or Brown
Eye Colour: Hazel, Blue or Green
Height: 4”0 to 5”0
Weight: 160 to 220 lbs
Age: 500 to 800 years

Khazad Rhul is hidden deep within the mountain, apart from its large ornate gates most travellers would not even see any signs of life or a city beneath the mountain. Since the 5 Fist Alliance, Khazad Rhul became the capital city of the Dwarven people partially due to it being the largest population of Dwarves on Rúmerion and their military might being the strongest of all 5. The King Gikhatum Stormfeet is an incredibly old Dwarf in fact not many know how old he is and many believe that he is easily older than 800 years.

Khazad Kheled is known as the magical center for the Dwarves, their mines that are built under the city are home to the most numerous source of the Fruit of Ayda stones. These stones are traded from here and shipped across Rúmerion. Because of this you can often find Dwarves from this city out in the world trading their wares and these stones to other magic users. Lord Sindas Warhide is a far and just Dwarf ruler, though he had to banish his son to Khazad Grim after a mysterious incident at the palace which has yet to be revealed to anyone outside his inner circle.

Khazad Zarum prior to the alliance was the largest Gold Deposit on Rúmerion, since the pact between the Dwarves it became the banking capital of the empire and most of the kingdom’s treasure is stored here in a great deep vault. The culture of the Dwarves from this city reflects this and they are often dressed in highly intricate clothing with delicate embroidery and gems or metals stitched into the fabric. Lord Kozzoir Runebuckle often covers his beard in gold leaf before making public appearances. Due to their trade of valuable goods between the mountains the Dwarven Treasure Caravans are the most fortified and is seen as good work for a Dwarf to find.  Some DTC’s are even delivered by track through secret tunnels built between the mountains.

Khazad Morum is home to the Beast Rider Dwarves, a clan of Dwarves headed by Lord Godroug Grumbleforged who rules the city from atop the mountain. They are the only known Dwarves to openly embrace creatures for their value, especially winged Beasts. Though it is known that the Dwarves often use War Boars to pull carts and ploughs most Dwarves only look at the creatures of Rúmerion as things to be put to use. However it is Lord Godroug Grumbleforged belief that there is majesty to be found in all creatures especially the grace found in the eagles that circle his mountain.

Khazad Grim is run by criminal’s and military dwarves, ruled by General Sirnolir Hillstone who was voted in by his council he rules his mountain with strict force and efficiency. The mountain fortress was created after the effects of Yatan’s magic when he was pulled into the Baratrum. Since then the city expanded within the mountain to be entirely self sustainable as the land around it was tainted by dark magic.
As the years passed the city fell from being a home for warriors glory to become a place of banishment, Dwarves who had fallen out of favor due to their criminal activity in their lords court are sent to Khazad Grim are shipped and marched to the mountain until they have paid their sentence in full.

Last Sentence Tag

Tagged 5ever ago by @universalfanfic, thank you!

Rules: post the last sentence you wrote (fanfic/original/anything!) and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence.

This was a really bad writing week so I didn’t have any recent writing to post, but I barfed up a few lines so I could stop letting this hang in the air lol. Just a bit of Maika being her salty self.

In the meantime, maybe I would avoid saying anything personal within the vicinity of my personal console. Just to be safe. Or perhaps I would begin to noisily compose a ballad about how Mirza’s home smelled of feet and her wares weren’t worth the dust her shop had been built on.

The wonderful thing about this tag is that no matter how many times it comes around your answer ought to be different, so I can just tag allllll of you every time ;D aren’t you all lucky? YOU’RE UP: @tundra-tiger @typeaadventures @h-brook-writes @prycarious @brynwrites @jesse-is-inarguably-purple @lilymaidofgallifrey @my-words-are-light @otramble @scribbledwriting @tangledlinescrumpledpaper @helenpowers @acfawkes @crispyninjadonut @authorloremipsum @lmartinezwrites and @universalfanfic you’re officially tagged back again ;D

The Dragon and I (DenNor/SuFin)

This one is darker than the preview ones. Just because is the story of the dragons. Part I.  Part II. Thank you all for your awesome support! :D

I’m not George R.R.Martin so don’t judge, lmao.

Once upon a time, humans and dragons lived in perfect harmony. Nobody was sure where the dragons came from. Some people said that they were gifts from the gods themselves. Others said the creatures already existed when mankind appeared.

People gave the dragons gifts every once in a while so they could keep protecting them from the evil spirits and for some time, that deal actually worked.

On that specific location, there were four dragons. Two big ones and two of a smaller size. While some of them were kinder to people than others, it was certain that they didn’t mind in helping when people were struggling.

The big red dragon with shiny scales lived in the south. A smaller blue one was his partner. He often appeared in front of the people, every time when someone called his name. His partner had his doubts about it. He was afraid that the red dragon would get in trouble. While he didn’t hate humans, he didn’t trust them either.

But the red dragon always tried to make it seem it wasn’t a big deal and that was his big mistake.

On the north, a golden dragon ruled the mountains with a light blue one. While he wasn’t as friendlier like the red one, he didn’t deny anyone his help.

Legends told that they also brought fertility and abundance to the lands, so people were happy to honor them. Huge festivals were made in the name of the dragons and more often than not, they made they show up as appreciation.

But one day, a dark wizard appeared. With his magic, he managed to convince to young leaders that if they killed the major dragons, they would become kings and everyone would love them.

So armies were formed and the harmony was broken. And the dragons didn’t see it coming.

The red and the golden one were made prisoners by the dark wizard.  They didn’t even intent to escape because they thought that it was a big misunderstanding.

The smaller ones only escaped by miracle. The blue one wanted to rescue the red dragon badly but the light blue knew it was only going to make things worse.

Humans wouldn’t dare to kill a dragon, right? But the light blue made a big mistake.

The big dragons tried to negotiate their way out. What humans could possibly want from them? They have never killed anyone or damaged any properties at all. Most of the time they only minded their own business and only in very special occasions they actually got out from their caves.

But the dark wizard didn’t care at all. He wanted to kill the dragons so he could use their blood and scales.

Neither of the big dragons wanted to fight the humans. They knew that they could kill them all and escape. But was it really worth it?

The red one asked then if at least they could spare the life of the smaller dragons. Since they were huge, they wouldn’t need the blood from the other ones.

The golden one stared at the sky while being imprisoned. He couldn’t move his wings or his legs at all. He was hoping that his partner went as far as possible. Then he put his attention towards the dark wizard.

“If you kill us, you are going to bring devastation to these lands” The golden dragon warned the men.

But neither the wizard nor the men didn’t really care. They wanted to hold the titles of “killer of dragons” so they could reclaim the throne.

The only weapon that could get through the skin of a dragon was a rare metal that was only found on a mine in the north of the kingdom. So the dark wizard decided that the best way to combat a beast of fire was… With fire itself.

The blue dragon wanted to intervene but the red one shook his head. They were already sentence to death and he didn’t want his partner to suffer the same destiny.

“Promise you’ll wait” The red dragon requested to his partner “And you won’t kill anyone. This isn’t their fault after all” The creature explained to the other one with sadness.

“I’ll wait for eternity if that’s needed” The blue one responded before flying away.

The light blue dragon refused to say good-bye. He wanted to kill everyone there, but the golden one was trying to comfort him.

“Don’t do anything stupid. I shall return to your side” The golden creature said with certainty.

When the fire was really near them, they decided that the least they could do was dying with honor and dignity. The animals roared and wiped their tails until they were bleeding. The sound that they made was so horrific that most people that watched them died thought that they were going nuts.

The smaller dragons watched the way that their partners were fighting until they stopped moving. Both of them started a disaster and burned every single crop and town that were in there way as payment for that.

And like the golden dragon promised, the devastation came soon to the kingdom. The reign splat in two and remained in war for over a century. Their leaders were killed in combat and nobody knew what happened to the dark wizard.

Over the curse of time, some villagers said that they could hear a sad moaning coming from the mountains. So sad that they could shrink the heart of anyone who came close to it.

The remaining dragons stopped protecting the humans and people just forgot about them. And that’s how the legend was made.

But the blue and light blue dragons had a big hope. That someday, in somewhere, their partners were going to reborn and come back to them.

greek mythology mbti (the weird version)

INFJ - dionysus
Dionysus is represented by city religions as the protector of those who do not belong to conventional society and thus symbolizes everything which is chaotic, dangerous and unexpected, everything which escapes human reason and which can only be attributed to the unforeseeable action of the gods.

ENFJ - apollo
Medicine and healing are associated with Apollo, whether through the god himself or mediated through his son Asclepius, yet Apollo was also seen as a god who could bring ill-health and deadly plague. Amongst the god’s custodial charges, Apollo became associated with dominion over colonists, and as the patron defender of herds and flocks.

ENTJ - athena
She is the patroness of various crafts, especially of weaving, as Athena Ergane, and was honored as such at festivals such as Chalceia. The metalwork of weapons also fell under her patronage. She led battles (Athena Promachos or the warrior maiden Athena Parthenos)[25] as the disciplined, strategic side of war, in contrast to her brother Ares, the patron of violence, bloodlust and slaughter—"the raw force of war".[26] Athena is the goddess of knowledge, purity, arts, crafts, learning, justice and wisdom. She represents intelligence, humility, consciousness, cosmic knowledge, creativity, education, enlightenment, the arts, eloquence and power. She stands for Truth, Justice, and Moral values. She plays a tough, clever and independent role.

INTJ - medusa
The name “Medusa” itself is often used in ways not directly connected to the mythological figure but to suggest the gorgon’s abilities or to connote malevolence; despite her origins as a beauty, the name in common usage “came to mean monster.”[19] It is the Lie that makes him free. Animals alone are given the privilege of lifting the veil of Isis; men dare not. The animal, awake, has no fictional escape from the Real because he has no imagination. Man, awake, is compelled to seek a perpetual escape into Hope, Belief, Fable, Art, God, Socialism, Immortality, Alcohol, Love. From Medusa-Truth he makes an appeal to Maya-Lie.

ESTJ - perseus
The legendary founder of Mycenae and of the Perseid dynasty of Danaans, was the first of the heroes of Greek mythology whose exploits in defeating various archaic monsters provided the founding myths of the Twelve Olympians. Perseus beheaded the Gorgon Medusa, and saved Andromeda from the sea monster Cetus. He was the son of the mortal Danae and the god Zeus.

ISTP - theseus
Theseus volunteered to slay the monster to stop this horror. He took the place of one of the youths and set off with a black sail, promising to his father, Aegeus, that if successful he would return with a white sail.[10] Like the others, Theseus was stripped of his weapons when they sailed. On his arrival in Crete, Ariadne, King Minos’ daughter, fell in love with Theseus and, on the advice of Daedalus, gave him a ball of thread or clue, so he could find his way out of the Labyrinth.

INFP - achilles
In other words, Achilles is an embodiment of the grief of the people, grief being a theme raised numerous times in the Iliad (frequently by Achilles). Achilles’ role as the hero of grief forms an ironic juxtaposition with the conventional view of Achilles as the hero of κλέος kleos (“glory”, usually glory in war).

ESFP - zeus
“Even the gods who are not his natural children address him as Father, and all the gods rise in his presence.”[7] For the Greeks, he was the King of the Gods, who oversaw the universe. As Pausanias observed, “That Zeus is king in heaven is a saying common to all men.”

ENFP - poseidon
In his benign aspect, Poseidon was seen as creating new islands and offering calm seas. When offended or ignored, he supposedly struck the ground with his trident and caused chaotic springs, earthquakes, drownings and shipwrecks. Sailors prayed to Poseidon for a safe voyage, sometimes drowning horses as a sacrifice;[citation needed] in this way, according to a fragmentary papyrus, Alexander the Great paused at the Syrian seashore before the climactic battle of Issus, and resorted to prayers, “invoking Poseidon the sea-god, for whom he ordered a four-horse chariot to be cast into the waves.”

ISFP - artemis
Artemis, while sitting on the knee of her father, Zeus, asked him to grant her six wishes: to remain always a virgin; to have many names to set her apart from her brother Apollo; to be the Phaesporia or Light Bringer; to have a bow and arrow and a knee-length tunic so that she could hunt; to have sixty “daughters of Okeanos”, all nine years of age, to be her choir; and for twenty Amnisides Nymphs as handmaidens to watch her dogs and bow while she rested. She wished for no city dedicated to her, but to rule the mountains, and for the ability to help women in the pains of childbirth.

ISFJ - hestia
A hearth fire might be deliberately, ritually extinguished at need, and its lighting or relighting should be accompanied by rituals of completion, purification and renewal, comparable with the rituals and connotations of an eternal flame and of sanctuary lamps. […] Hestia, you who tend the holy house of the lord Apollo, the Far-shooter at goodly Pytho, with soft oil dripping ever from your locks, come now into this house, come, having one mind with Zeus the all-wise: draw near, and withal bestow grace upon my song.

ISTJ - hephaestus
Hephaestus had his own palace on Olympus, containing his workshop with anvil and twenty bellows that worked at his bidding.[11] Hephaestus crafted much of the magnificent equipment of the gods, and almost any finely-wrought metalwork imbued with powers that appears in Greek myth is said to have been forged by Hephaestus. He designed Hermes’ winged helmet and sandals, the Aegis breastplate, Aphrodite’s famed girdle, Agamemnon’s staff of office,[12] Achilles’ armor, Heracles’ bronze clappers, Helios’ chariot, the shoulder of Pelops, and Eros’ bow and arrows.

ESFJ - prometheus
Henceforth, humans would keep that meat for themselves and burn the bones wrapped in fat as an offering to the gods. This angered Zeus, who hid fire from humans in retribution. In this version of the myth, the use of fire was already known to humans, but withdrawn by Zeus.[6] Prometheus, however, stole fire back in a giant fennel-stalk and restored it to humanity.

INTP - hermes
Hermes is a god of transitions and boundaries. He is quick and cunning, and moves freely between the worlds of the mortal and divine, as emissary and messenger of the gods,[1] intercessor between mortals and the divine, and conductor of souls into the afterlife. He is protector and patron of travelers, herdsmen, thieves,[2] orators and wit, literature and poets, athletics and sports, invention and trade.[3] In some myths he is a trickster, and outwits other gods for his own satisfaction or the sake of humankind.

ENTP - daedalus
This story thus encourages others to consider the long-term consequences of their own inventions with great care, lest those inventions do more harm than good. As in the tale of Icarus’ wings, Daedalus is portrayed assisting in the creation of something that has subsequent negative consequences, in this case with his creation of the monstrous Minotaur’s almost impenetrable Labyrinth which made slaying the beast an endeavour of legendary difficulty.

ESTP - tyche
Tyche (English /ˈtaɪki/; from Greek: Τύχη,[1][2] meaning “luck”; Roman equivalent: Fortuna) was the presiding tutelary deity that governed the fortune and prosperity of a city, its destiny. The effectiveness of her capricious power even achieved respectability in philosophical circles during that generation, though among poets it was a commonplace to revile her for a fickle harlot.[10] In medieval art, she was depicted as carrying a cornucopia, an emblematic ship’s rudder, and the wheel of fortune, or she may stand on the wheel, presiding over the entire circle of fate.

Ling qi chapter summary: 217

Jinghua doesn’t like the idea of death being the only solution of course, he yells at Xi for giving such a silly answer. “What rubbish are you saying? Isn’t that nothing major happens with this type of sacrifices? Why is death being brought up again? Xi gets up and tries to breathe normally, "Normally… there’s nothing major.. but, today.. the timing is really bad.. I.. disrupted the sacrifice. you.. also.. we.. broke.. a lot of rules, the mountain god.. is probably.. angry.. Jinghua replies back, "All that for something this little?! This god of your family is so stingy!” Xi falls back onto the floor again, Jinghua asks how he can help but Xi shakes his head. Jinghua thinks of a way himself, “Power.. is still being taken again non stop- Wait! Spiritual power? if it’s only spiritual power.. I-” Xi pants on the floor and Jinghua leans in, touching his lips with him, but was soon pushed off by Xi. “What are you doing?!” he asks. “Giving you power! If we can’t stop, then I will share my spiritual power with you, like what you did to me” he replies. “Are you crazy?!” Xi shouts.

Jinghua pins his wrists onto the floor above his head. “Don’t think that only you can do something like that.” Xi keeps shouting at him but nah bro he ain’t stopping. “Normally I would have ignored it, but today you’re like this already, so I won’t believe it! Duanmu Xi, don’t forget, you’re my priest, no one should come and argue that with me” He leans in and kiss, I mean *cough* shares his spiritual energy with him. His thoughts that he didn’t say out loud were “Not him Shenlong Zhangxuan, and God can’t either!”

ok but a big family dinner in Bag End for Thorin and Bilbo’s anniversary, and I mean like huge, I mean like you’re squeezing the whole company in there again + Dis + Frodo + Sam + Merry and Pip. LIke there are shenanigans galore happening and Fili and Kili are teaching Merry and Pip the blunt the knives song and Frodo and Sam are sitting on Thorin’s feet and Dis and Bilbo are just sitting in armchairs drinking tea and watching the chaos unfold

ACOWAR Spin-offs

I have a theory/idea who the next three books will be about.

1. Lucien. I think a big part why he wasn’t so much in ACOWAR is because he will get his own story & it’s the story about finding Vassa and maybe even the story of him and Helion.

2. Vivianne and Kallias. It needs to happen. I need to see them grow up, Kallias falling in love and his message to her before he was taken Under the Mountain. Vivianne ruling the Winter Court for him and them getting married. I need it all.

3. This one is tricky. It could be about Mor and her path. It could be about Elriel or Elucien (whatever you ship). Nessian. Or maybe Feysand’s children. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES

Tell me your ideas!

Hey hey, all you lovely people! First of all, thank you to all who liked and/or reblogged my last recording, it means a lot! I wasn’t expecting much of a reaction from Tumblr since I don’t have many followers, but I was very pleased to see that my post found its way to a fair number of you. And really, so long as what I do is useful or meaningful to at least one person, I’m happy :)

For the second recording of my project, I’ve chosen the Orphic Hymn to Artemis. I’ve been her devotee for eight years now, so this text is very close to my heart. I hope you enjoy it. I’ve tried to fix a few issues I had in the previous video, particularly the rhythm and the distinction between long and short vowels. Again, please let me know if you have any suggestions for further recordings!

Hear me, queen, many-named daughter of Zeus,
Titanian, resounding, illustrious, arrow-bearing, holy,
visible to all, torch-bearing, Huntress Goddess who ensnares, presiding at birth,
assistant in childbirth and uninitiated into childbirth,
you with the undone belt, lover of madness, huntress, disperser of troubles,
fast-running, arrow-shooting, lover of the hunt, you who wander at night,
welcome at every door, liberator, shaped like a man,
Upright, you who hasten childbirth, divine nurse to mortal children,
immortal, chthonian, killer of wild beasts, good-fortuned,
you rule the mountain forests, tracker of stags, holy,
sovereign, queen of all, forever possessing beautiful youth,
wood-dwelling, protectress of dogs, Kydonian, ever-changing;
come, saviour Goddess, welcoming friend to all initiates,
to bring us the beautiful fruits of the earth
and pleasant peace and beautiful-haired health;
and may you send to the summits of the mountains sickness and suffering.

A few insights:

  • Artemis having an undone belt, λυσίζωνε, refers to her role in childbearing. In Ancient Greece (as in most cultures, I’d wager), women would loosen or undo their clothing while giving birth.
  • Orthia, Upright, is a Spartan and Arcadian epithet of Artemis.
  • while I translated ὀλβιόμοιρε as “good-fortuned”, it literally means “being assigned a happy fate” (ὄλβιος: happy, blessed +
μοῖρα: portion assigned by destiny). This term is probably used in opposition to θηροκτόνε, “killer of wild beasts”. Artemis has the power to kill, but she herself was assigned immortality.
  • in ἣ κατέχεις ὀρέων δρυμούς, “you rule the mountain forests”, the verb for “rule” can also mean “inhabit” or “preserve” (as well as a dozen other translations which don’t fit into the context). Artemis not only fills the forests entirely, but protects them and keeps them intact.
  • θάλος, youth, is a metaphor. In its original meaning, the word describes the freshness of a new plant, which I think fits nicely into Artemis’ imagery.
  • Kydonia is a city on the northern coast of Crete.
