Jungkook stood affixed to his spot, his mind desperately trying to come to terms with what he saw: his brother, who he hadn’t seen for centuries, standing right outside his apartment with another man.
“Hyung…” Jungkook’s voice trailed off, thinking about what possible reason the older one could’ve had to suddenly seek him out after so long.
“Jungkook,” He spoke firmly, words laced with desperation and urgency, “We need to talk.”
He knew that his brother, Jimin, wanted to come inside but Jungkook couldn’t have that, not with you sleeping in the house. He didn’t want anyone who could hurt you to even know about your existence.
Moving with haste, Jungkook wrote a note to let you know where he was going, leaving it next to the bedside. He grabbed his coat from the stand, and put it on before he stepped outside.
“We can talk in the café across the street. Not here.” He asserted and Jimin could tell from the tone of his voice that there was no way Jungkook was going to ever let him inside the house.
Shaking his head and furrowing his eyebrows in annoyance, Jimin reluctantly agreed to the younger’s request, hurrying downstairs with Jungkook.
Upon entering the café, they were greeted by a cheery barista and as much as Jimin wanted to be polite, he needed privacy.
“You’re gonna go back to your job and you’re gonna forget we’re here, but that booth in the corner is reserved, got it?” He looked deeply into her eyes, using his power on her and she nodded her head in submission before returning back to work, unaware of the interaction.
After they sat down, Jimin was the first to break the silence by introducing the man who had been accompanying him, knowing that Jungkook needed to trust him for what he was about to say next.
“This is Taehyung,” He spoke, pointing to the man seated next to him who was holding his hand in an affectionate manner, “He’s the one who has been helping me out for the past few centuries and the werewolf I’m bonded with.”
Jungkook’s eyes widened in shock and surprise at his brother’s words, amazed not only by the fact that his brother was actually able to find his bonded mate but also at the fact that he was a werewolf.
“And Taehyung,” Jimin turned to speak to him, “This is my younger brother, Jungkook.”
Taehyung responded with a slight nod, a gesture of greeting, to which Jungkook responded with the same.
“Now that we have the introductions out of the way,” His features hardened and tone turned more serious, “Let’s talk about why we’re here.”
“Do you know Kim Namjoon?” Taehyung inquired, looking at the younger for response and Jungkook nodded his head.
“He’s one of the original vampires, right? I used to work for him a couple of years back before leaving…” Jungkook’s voice trailed off as he recollected the time he had switched off his humanity, working purely for his own selfish gain, no matter who or what he was putting at risk.
“Yeah well…” Jimin and Taehyung exchanged hesitant looks before continuing, “He wants to reward you for your work.”
“Reward? What reward?” Jungkook questioned with an affronted look on his face, “And why now?”
“We don’t know why, but,” Jimin was the one to answer Jungkook’s questions, “He wants you to marry his sister.”
Jungkook was in shock. To refuse an order from an original vampire was the equivalent of signing your own death certificate, but he had you. And even if he decided to run, he won’t be able to take you with him but neither could he leave you behind.
If he left you, Namjoon wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to torture the information out of you and if you went with him, Namjoon would hunt both of you to the ends of the world.
Besides, Namjoon never worked alone. He had his brother, Seokjin, to help him out with his endeavors and had assigned him as second in command.
“So,” Jimin looked at Jungkook, “what’re you going to do? And more importantly, what’re you going to tell Y/N-ah?”
Jungkook was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t even notice that Jimin was already well aware of your existence.
