most of the avengers are man children

News Flash

Criticizing Joss Whedon’s problematic writing choices does not translate to hate.

Also, word of advice, if you want people to stop accusing you of being racist or sexist, then you might want to stay away from the following:

  • Having the lead female protagonist of your show almost raped by her love interest and then have the showrunner praise the rapist as being his favorite character and having the best character development (Spike, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
  • Plan to have a prostitute gang raped to feed into the character development of her male love interest (Inara, Firefly)
  • Have a show that heavily features Asian culture and religions, but then fail to cast any Asian actors (Firefly)
  • Claim that having Asian actors was unnecessary because one of your white actors “kind of looked Asian.” (Summer Glau, Firefly)
  • Fire your lead actress for getting pregnant and then spend the next season shitting all over her character (Charisma Carpenter, Angel)
  • Inviting that lead actress to come back to the show, promising her that she’ll stick around until the final episode, only to turn around and kill her character off at the last moment as revenge (Charisma Carpenter, Angel)
  • Creating the single most racist depiction of a black female character by making her violent, savage, animalistic and so dumb that she isn’t even able to speak, and then reveal that the way she became the first slayer, was by having a group of old men force a demon into her body without her consent (The First Slayer, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
  • Have one of the most popular female superheroes referred to as a “cunt” by the main villain (Natasha Romanoff, Avengers)
  • Claim that because a female character was unable to have children, that she was considered a monster (Natasha Romanoff, Avengers: Age of Ultron)
  • Taking one of the strongest female superheroes in the MCU and turning her into an outlet for her male love interest to pour his man angst all over and then completely dump her in the end without any expression of gratitude for all she did for him (Natasha Romanoff, Avengers: Age of Ultron)
  • Have one of the most popular superheroes in the MCU joke about raping women (Tony Stark, Avengers: Age of Ultron)
  • Feature two characters who were originally of Jewish-Romani descent and then have them whitewashed by hiring white actors to play them (Wanda Maximoff and Pietro Maximoff, Avengers: Age of Ultron)
  • Having two Jewish-Romani characters volunteer for a Nazi organization, despite the fact that Jewish and Romani people were victims of the Holocaust (Wanda Maximoff and Pietro Maximoff, Avengers: Age of Ultron)
  • Have the audacity to redefine feminism and re-brand it because he found feminism distasteful.
  • Constantly using the “break the cutie” trope to punish his supposedly “strong female characters.” (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Avengers: Age of Ultron)
  • Using the threat of sexual violence against his lead female protagonists on multiple occasions (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Avengers)

Check yourself, fandom. These criticisms of Joss Whedon’s work have been long-standing and are completely valid. So, before you get on your high horse and try to accuse his detractors of being bitter fangirls, take a look at all the fucked up shit your problematic fav has said and done, and then we’ll talk.

There’s always been a pattern to George is writing and I think that’s the main reason I’m convinced J*narys isn’t endgame.

Overall George is a fantasy writer. But despite that he’s given us every trope and twisted it to show us not everything works out.

Not every hero is good. Not every villain is bad. There is a grayness in them that they can’t fit in the regular cookie cutter fantasy character.

I’ve said it before so I’m gonna repeat myself here.

Ned Stark. Audiences and book readers alike were shocked when the inherently good and honest Ned Stark was murdered for trying to do the right thing. In most fantasy stories a character like Ned Stark would face hardship. But overall come out on top. Instead, his head is on a spike.

Robb Stark. A boy turned king in the hopes to avenge his father, rescue his sisters, and free the north from the rein of the evil power hungry Lannisters. Instead, he was murdered at a wedding in front of his mother.

Oberyn Martell. A man hungry for revenge for his sister and her children is death. Faced with the beast who did it. He’s beaten him. He’s going to do it. Instead, his head is mashed in like his sister while his lover watches.

Sandor Clegane: a scarred and tormented man who frightens nearly every person he meets. A dog to the Lannisters who cuts down even the innocent. He’s cruel, vile, and overall just a mean shit. Instead, turns out to be a misunderstood victim who has a good heart.

The white walkers. The embodiment of evil. Who want to kill everyone and everything in their path. No mercy. No love. Nothing. Nothing but fear and death. Instead, started out a regular man. Who was turned against his will as a weapon to fight in another beings war. Stripped of all feeling to live as a sentient creature who can only feel the coldness.

Jonarys. The song of ice and fire. Two protagonists. He fights for the greater good. She fights for the greater good. He’s pretty, she’s pretty. Both have loved and lost. Both wish for a family to love. Both don’t want to be alone. It seems they are perfect together. Instead, She becomes mad. In her quest for the good of the world Dany loses it. Succumbed to the madness of her house words “Fire and Blood” the embodiment of the phrase “the path to hell is paved with good intentions.” She dies. And the man who seemed perfect ends up with the women whom seemed last on his list.

George is a fantasy writer. But his story will never be good vs evil. Love conquers all. It will always be the thing we expected and hope for, turned upside down

Captain America 76th Anniversary Celebration Post

The very first Captain America comic has a release date of March 1941, so in order to celebrate the 76th Anniversary of our beloved Steven Grant Rogers, I have asked Tumblr users to submit their favorite Cap comic panels, art, quotes, pictures, meta, gifs, and/or write-ups on what Captain America means to them. And here is what Cap’s fans have to say… (please feel free to reblog and add your own favorite Steve Rogers moments, etc. to this post).

Remember that thing you reblogged about Kara going on Sesame Street as Supergirl? Imagine that, but with PETER going on as Spidey? (Or maybe fem!Peter? I'm always down for some more fem! Peter.)

This has been sitting in my inbox for ages because it is!! So good!!!!

  • Peter, recently inducted into the Avengers and with quietly soaring approval ratings, is being hassled by the PR team. He has to do something. He has to prove that he’s more substantial than just YouTube footage and selfies with pedestrians post-battle
  • Peter does not want to go on a talk show. He does not want to sit in front of a late night host and answer uncomfortable questions about how tight his spandex is.
  • He picks Sesame Street. Most of the Avengers have featured (especially Thor, 4 time guest star and a huge hit with children and parents alike).
  • Superheroes always draw in huge ratings, but no one quite expects the humble sincerity or dorky friendliness Spider-Man carries with him. The kids instantly like him, all bright colours and fun jokes.
  • Peter talks about bullying. He talks about how he was bullied for a long time, and how anxious and helpless and small he felt, and how none of that was his fault.
  • He talks about getting older and acquiring super-powers and suddenly being stronger than the boy that’d hurt him for so long, and wanting to hurt him back. He talks about how awful that had been, making someone else cry. Pain and mean-spirited revenge helps no one.
  • Peter talks about kindness and responsibility.
  • A stack of apple crates fall and land on Elmo’s bike. Elmo is trapped and scared. All the muppets try their hardest to help him up, but the crates are just too strong. On the other side of the street, Big Bird is busy trying to play a game with Peter.
  • “Look,” Peter points over the chess board, “Elmo’s hurt. Someone should help him.”
  • “It’s not our problem,” Big Bird says, waving a hand. “We’re having fun right now.”
  • “But he’s in trouble and they’re not strong enough to help. Big Bird, we’re both strong.” Peter stands, and says, “We have the power to help, so we have a responsibility. If something bad happens, and you can help, if you can stop it, if you have the power to make someone’s life a little better, you should.”
  • Big Bird helps move the crates and hugs Elmo and kisses his injury better.
  • If they have time, or if Peter comes back (which he’s invited too; he quickly rockets to a favourite guest star), he talks about personal loss and how kids can deal with grief. He talks about how mean people will sometimes say mean, untrue things and how words can’t hurt you. Peter talks about being anxious and strong and brave every day.
  • Spider-Man would be a gorgeous addition to Sesame Steet, anon.

Avengers: The Children’s Crusade (2012) #5 (of 9)

“I was trying to save her. From you. From all of you. And now, because of you, the most powerful force in the universe has been unleashed into the timestream… Where she can rewrite the past or the future just as easily as she said the words… ‘No more Mutants.’”

Everyone looks ashamed but I would like to remind all these veteran superheroes that it is Victor von Doom shaming you. Like. The moral ground he sets foot on isn’t exactly… existant. I mean. That’s why he’s hovering in the second panel, obviously.

Except the murderous rampage Logan’s been having since the first issue. Doom might have standing over him. But Mister Adamantium Bones dug that trench for himself. THe rest of you shouldn’t feel the need to trip into it.

Two of my photos from tonight’s (December 7, 2016) red carpet at the Make-a-Wish Foundation 4th Annual Wishing Well Gala, honoring Robert Downey Jr. with the Shining Star Award for his many contributions as a wish-granting hero.  Thank you to Make-a-Wish of Greater Los Angeles for the carpet credentials and invitation to cover the gala - and permission to share photos on Tumblr.

“Over the years, Robert has granted dozens of wishes for children around the world, and has personally brought hope, strength and joy to Wish Kids and their families.  In addition, he has donated funds through his foundation, Random Act Funding,” providing resources to help make other children’s wishes come true,” reads the award citation. “One of today’s most popular actors, Robert is best known by Wish Kids for his role as Iron Man in the Iron Man and Avengers franchises, as well as his title role in the Sherlock Holmes franchise. Superheroes are of special importance to Wish Kids, as they provide escape from difficult medical treatments and embody the power that kids need to fight and stay strong.

“Among the many memorable wishes Robert has granted include: helping nine-year-old Domenic, who has cystic fibrosis, fulfill his wish to be a superhero; surprising seven-year-old Alex, who was born missing most of his right arm, by presenting him with a specially made replica of Iron Man’s famous arm; and welcoming 17-year-old Cameron, an enthusiastic Avengers fan, to spend the day with him during production on the set.”

And…HE WORE AN IRON MAN TIE.

Of course he did.

Congratulations, Robert!!!

A feast unknown
To stone, or tree, or beast.”

The funny thing is, the Vision loves poetry, so I bet this very poem occurred to him in his first kiss.

People throw the term OTP around, but for me, it is the Vision and the Scarlet Witch. Love did for them what is should do: it made then better people.

Wanda Maximoff spent her entire life being pushed around and commanded by men in her life. First it was her domineering brother, Quicksilver, who had a stronger personality and decided what was best for both. Then it was Magneto, Lord of the Evil Mutants, who used guilt, debt, and obligation to manipulate her into staying. She was subject to unwanted advances by Toad and Mastermind, men who are as revolting in personality and character as they are in appearance.

Even when Wanda joined the Avengers, she was the doormat member. She always voted with her brother and followed his lead. Her job in stories, according to Roy Thomas, was to “throw a hex bolt and then faint.” She had a crush on Captain America, not because of his personality, but just because he was leader and alpha dog and he told her what to do.

All that changed when the Vision came in. She found in herself the courage to admit she loved an artificial man, to hell with convention. She became assertive, because the relationship gave her courage. She told Quicksilver off, a guy who bossed her around her whole life by saying he knew what was best, when he disapproved. When Mantis, in true bitchy soap opera villain fashion, tried to steal the Vision from her, she clenched her jaw, determined to fight for what she wants! She even became dedicated to personal development, studying true magic under Agatha Harkness. It didn’t take a day, or a week, or a year, but she eventually led an Avengers team, FORCE Works.

Likewise, the Vision was irrevocably changed by their relationship. Instead of being cold, creepy, and emotionless, he discovered emotions in himself. He felt love, passion, and even lost his temper when he was afraid for her. At first, he didn’t feel worthy of her, but her love convinced him of his value and worth. He wanted to be more than what he was for her, and her love convinced him he could be more. The Vision was the definition of reserved and inhibited, but Wanda made him extroverted and encouraged him to try new things like vacations and bathing suits.

A lot of people compare the Vision to the JLA’s Red Tornado. The Red Tornado was a JLA member who was also an android, alone and without a place in the world. Except the Red Tornado faded into the background of JLA stories, and it is very difficult to argue he got any interesting character development. In short, the Red Tornado is what the Vision would be…if nobody loved him.

The Vision and the Scarlet Witch, though, were the axis on which all of the Avengers turned for decades. Other members came and went, but the Avengers were their life. Until the 2000s, Vision and Wanda were the longest serving Avengers in terms of number of continuous issues (no, seriously, count for yourself). It is no exaggeration to say they WERE the Avengers, the constant when others came and went. I have always been skeptical of any Avengers roster that doesn’t include them. It doesn’t feel like the Avengers without them. In fact, their absence in the 2000s was totally emblematic of where that book took a wrong turn and broke so cleanly from its past.

So many issues plagued their relationship, from the return of Simon Williams, the man the Vision’s mind was based on, who even came back from the dead with the power of Wanda’s love, or the attempt by Mantis to break them up and steal the Vision, to the Vision’s hard reboot in Avengers West Coast where he returned to “factory settings,” to the hiatus they took where the Vision and Carol Danvers had a passionate relationship (yeah…that really happened), to the most hideous thing that could ever happen to anyone, the loss of their children. To quote Wanda: “Dying, I could take. Disfigurement, paralysis, anything. But not losing our children.” The Vision was even destroyed, one dark day - but he returned to Wanda even from death. In the movies, it looks like they will be on opposite sides of the civil war. They would not be the first couple tragically torn apart by war.

Yet, despite all the problems they faced, I have never believed any hiatus would be truly permanent, because love is not an emotion, but a choice to make a relationship work despite obstacles. No matter where the Vision went, no matter what strange form he took, he would return to Wanda. In comics, love is stronger than death. Madness can’t conquer or end it. Love is stronger than conventions or society. To quote Wanda: “To blazes with the rules. Love is for souls, not bodies.”

you know what i hate…? you have two great characters like oberyn and arianne and they get so fucking reduced by this fandom.

you have oberyn;

a man of colour, a prince who does as he pleases, a prince who is so witty and intelligent, who manages to forge six maester’s links before growing bored and just leaving. he rides with the second sons and starts his own sellsword company.

he has daughters from different mothers, and takes responsibility for them all and cares for them, making sure that they lack for nothing. teaches them not to rely on a man, and makes certain that they always defend themselves.

has a healthy open relationship with ellaria sand. lies with both other men and women, but is completely devout to her and loves her like no other. even after his sister’s death he lets this woman bring him joy and comfort and happiness, and thought he longs for revenge he lets himself be happy, and enjoy life with his family.

he dies for his sister. to avenge her, and not because of the dishonour it brings to his family nor because many see it as her being defiled. because his sister was his very best friend, and because he knows that the death and rape of her and the butchering of her innocent children were vile and wrong. and worse the men preforming these acts were rewarded rather than punished. he does this for his big sister, his best friend, he does this because no one dares to bring this up.

yet all he is in the show and to most of a the fandom, a sexy “exotic” man who will fulfill their every fantasy.

then there is arianne;

a woman of colour, a woman of colour who is hotter then the seven hells combined, and enjoys sex. the only true female heiress to a major house because of her coming from an area where gender does not affect your birthright.

she is not a warrior like her cousins, instead she is charming, sexual and beautiful, and uses this to advantage to gain what she wants.

though the fandom speculates otherwise. arianne not power hungry nor does she greed to be queen. she just wants her birthright, because it is hers. it is not her being selfish, it is that is belongs to her and no one has the right to take it from her.

she manages to concoct a plane after misleading evidence leads her to believe that her father is usurping her. though the plan fails immensely arianne still thought out the logics of the dornish houses willing to support her and even got companions to help her. because she is the ideal ruler of dorne, and her people seem to think so.

now despite her plan failing. arianne only cares for the outcomes of her friends, and is willing to take responsibility for herself jut so long as her friends and cousins are okay. and when she learns the truth she could have used the fact that her father his the truth of betrothal against him but instead she is willing to learn from her mistakes and even yearns to be like her father; the man she had spent years believing hated her. she lets go of her pride to learn.

and what is wonderful is that she isn’t reduced to the stereotype of the bitch sexual brown woman. no she is kind, caring and soft. she mourns ser arys as a friend, even if she never came to love him. she cares more about what happened to her friends when she is taken to captivity. she had friends who are common, noble and bastards. she keeps a wonderful close relationship with her cousins—and god knows female friendships are so unappreciated in both fiction and media. jfc when she finds out about viserys’ death, she doesn’t despair about the fact that she could have been queen, she is one of the few people who questions the brutality of his death.

yet people make her out to be this braindead bimbo, and though i don’t read fanfics i hear that whenever she appears in a fic fans write her out as a mean bullying homewrecker stealing the main guy away from the nice main girl. if she isn’t the stupic bitch, she is the exotic sex object in peoples eyes.

look the martells’ healthy sexuality is wonderful, but let us not define them by this alone.

EXPLAINING CIVIL WAR!

As most of you know, Civil War is gonna be the next Captain America movie and you all know it comes down to Cap vs. Tony.  But what other details might be involved in the story?  Well, in this post, I will explain everything you need to know about Civil War before the film!

THE BEGINNING!

So the New Warriors (Team of Teenagers/Young Adults who were once really popular) are doing this Reality TV Show where they fight super villains on National Television.  They decided to jump this group of villains in suburbia without Avengers or other big heroes support.  One of the villains happens to be Nitro, who has the power of exploding.  Course for this event, he’s been hopped up on steroids (or something else that made his powers 10 times stronger) that when Namorita of the New Warriors tackled him, he was like “I’m being oppressed by the Matriarchy!” and KABOOM!!!!  He blows up, the school next to them blows up, the New Warriors are all killed except for Speedball (we’ll get back to him) and EVERYTHING IS AWFUL!!!

So then the Government gets all mad and goes “YOU SUPERHEROES ARE A LOOSE CANNON!” And Tony Stark gets spat on by one of the mothers who lost her son and this affects Tony really hard (A lot of people forget this part).  The general public HATES superheroes now as they blew up kids on national TV.

WHAT THE HEART OF THE STORY IS…

This is when the Government goes “Superheroes must register with the Government (SHIELD) or else they will be hunted down and thrown into prison!"  Now, JUST TO MAKE THIS ABSOLUTELY CLEAR, signing up with the Government did mean that your Secret Identity was no more, but THAT’S NOT WHAT CIVIL WAR WAS ABOUT!!!  It was about the idea that you would become government agents.  The Government would tell you who your enemies are!  You would also be trained and paid, but generally, the Government would control what you did even if you wanted to or not (See Cloud 9)

Captain America said "FUCK THAT” and says Superheroes should be able to police themselves and not be controlled by the Government.  Iron Man believes that superheroes should be controlled.  And that’s why the two butt heads.

The sides:

After Captain America says fuck you to Maria Hill (In a totally awesome way), people started to go either Captain America or Iron Man.

For Captain America, they are Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Hercules, Goliath, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, the Young Avengers, Falcon, Daredevil, Punisher (Guess how that ends up?), Cloak and Dagger, Diamondback (Best Captain America Girl, Fuck you if you disagree), Wolverine, and quite a few others.

For Iron Man, he had Black Widow, She-Hulk, Sentry, Carol Danvers, Cassie Lang (Switches midway in Civil War from Cap’s side in a move that makes a ton of Young Avenger fans hate her), Wonder Man, Hank Pym, Mr. Fantastic, Songbird (Best Marvel Hero, I will fight you) Wasp and most of all, SPIDER-MAN(I’ll get into more details with Iron Man’s side as the story progresses.  It involves the Thunderbolts and a ton of villains)

Neutral during this whole thing are: Dr. Strange (Cause he had to worry about the reality of the world stuff), The Thing (He doesn’t like fighting friends) and the X-Men (Because the X-Men just had a school bus of Children blow up on them and they don’t need petty squabbling of other heroes in their lives!)

Overview of the story:

So Cap’s objective is to run out the Government’s funds so they say “Fuck this noise, let’s stop this act” thing, while Iron Man’s goal is to capture all non-registered heroes.

Iron Man’s big first step is to get Spider-Man to reveal he’s Peter Parker on TV to try to convince everyone to join the registration.  As you can tell, this is a very stupid thing for Peter Parker to do and ends awfully (Aunt May gets shot by Kingpin’s goon!)

At a major fight with both sides fighting, Iron Man reveals his trump card, A CLONE CYBORG OF THOR!! (Thor was dead at the time cause Thor dies a lot in comics)   Of course, being a fictional story, the clone goes wild and kills Goliath, a size changing hero. (Goliath also happened to be black and also wasn’t being used at all in any recent comics.  So they brought back a black hero just to kill him.  SMOOOOOTH).  This sent Cap’s team running, but it also made Invisible Woman and Spider-Man realize they are on the wrong side (which ironically convinced Cassie Lang that being with Cap was a bad decision and made people hate her.)

Iron Man realized he was running out of big guns, so he took the team called the Thunderbolts (Ex-villains who became heroes and are my favorite superhero team) and forced a shit ton of super villains onto the team with nanomachines controlling them.  (CAUSE THAT’S NOT WRONG!)  Also put onto that team was Speedball (the New Warriors guy who survived I mentioned earlier) who now goes by PENANCE and has a SPIKY SUIT FILLED WITH NAILS AND HE’S SO EDGY AND BROODING AND EDGY!!!

Course, Spider-Man switching sides led to a brawl and also joining Cap was the Punisher cause Iron Man was getting villains on his side.  Punisher was then ejected from Cap’s side when several villains tried to join Cap, but Punisher blasted their brains out and Cap beats Frank up.  (Thank God he didn’t shoot Diamondback)

Long Story short (Too Late), Iron Man has been keeping all the captured heroes in a super prison in another dimension. (YEAH!  HE WENT THERE!) Cap springs out all the heroes (Actually, Hulkling did) and SUPER MASSIVE FIGHT!  It spills onto the streets, Hercules smashes Cyborg Thor, Namor is helping Cap, and Captain America is about to beat Iron Man!

…and then civilians tackle Captain America, and Cap realizes he fucked up as their fight has damaged most of the city around them.  He surrenders and Iron Man wins.  This government vs. renegade heroes things would continue for several more years after this story.

…Oh, and Captain America gets shot by Crossbones and dies (Not really cause…I’m not gonna say cause it’s REALLY STUPID)

In the end?

Civil War ended up being a MEGA HIT.  Because of this story, every year after this continued with another event.  Almost every book tied into this conflict and years after.  Iron Man was hated by many fans, the New Warriors never recovered from the opening pages of this event, Spider-Man then went into One More Day to undo the damage of his identity revealed, Thunderbolts would now always be a prison team, Hero vs. Hero events would keep happening, and now this event will be Captain America 3!

Personally?  This is the story that got me into reading more mainstream comics, but I also think it’s overrated.  As much as it’s built up, it does seem like it’s trying to hard to be edgy and topical.  This story also came out in the height of he Bush years of office which I think influenced a lot of the writing.

Still, this story is what it is.  Love it or hate it, this is one of the bigger Marvel stories out there.

If anything this post does, I hope it informs you what the Civil War movie will be all about.  Thank you for reading.

(Annhilation was better anyways)

Comic Con: Marvel Previews Ant-Man and Avengers: Age of Ultron

Denied from Hall H by virtue of schedule and ballroom capacity BUT I’m here to give you the highlights of the panel by virtue of Twitter and Marvel’s live panel.

-The panel opened with Marvel giving a retrospective of the previous Marvel films set to the score from Rudy but it ended with a look at Thanos, who made a brief appearance in the after credits sequence of The Avengers.

-Kevin Feige opened with some nice sentiments about how Comic Con meant so much to the Marvel folks because it all started in that room. He also mentioned that the panel will focus on 2015.

Ant-Man
-Ant Man kicked off the panel with a few “surprises.” Corey Stoll has officially been confirmed as Darren Cross, the villain, also called Yellow Jacket. Evangeline Lilly is playing Hope Pym, Hank Pym’s daughter. Stoll’s character was Hank’s menthe but has taken the company in an evil direction so he recruits Rudd to be the new Ant-Man. Lilly apparently hasn’t read the script yet.

-Ant-Man is set to start production on August 18 in Atlanta.

On the footage

ANT-MAN looks a lot like demo footage. because it’s demo footage. they start shooting in two weeks. admittedly, not that cool. #SDCC

The Avengers 2

-The cast entered to the tune of Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough”. Of note, newcomers Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany (Vision) and James Spader joined in on the fun.

-The cast basically played the charm game to the audience. RDJ said that he becomes less significant with each new addition to the cast. Jeremy Renner, whose part in this new film is set to be expanded, said that Robert convinced him to do The Avengers by washing his car in a thong. Chris Hemsworth even joked about the recent controversy about Thor being a woman that it’s something he’d like to see happen in the movies and that it might the role to get him an Oscar. HA! Newcomer Paul Bettany jumped into the fray saying that it’s been the most exciting thing that’s happened to his children.

-They screened footage from the film which seemed pretty epic. There was a party sequence which sees all the Avengers and Rhodes (!) try and lift Thor’s hammer. Of the group, Captain America manages to move the hammer a little (be still our Thundershield hearts!). There was then a montage of various footage: Black Widow fighting with a new suit, Iron Man in his Hulkbuster armor going at it with Hulk, our first look at Ultron who says the only way to peace is through the destruction of The Avengers and Andy Serkis playing a human. The footage ended with a scene of Iron Man in space with the rest of the Avengers seemingly dead around him.

-The panel ended with Josh Brolin coming out on stage with the Infinity Gauntlet and being announced as Thanos. I’m slightly bummed they didn’t share any Phase 3 titles, but this was a cool moment.
