most of the avengers are man children

Two of my photos from tonight’s (December 7, 2016) red carpet at the Make-a-Wish Foundation 4th Annual Wishing Well Gala, honoring Robert Downey Jr. with the Shining Star Award for his many contributions as a wish-granting hero.  Thank you to Make-a-Wish of Greater Los Angeles for the carpet credentials and invitation to cover the gala - and permission to share photos on Tumblr.

“Over the years, Robert has granted dozens of wishes for children around the world, and has personally brought hope, strength and joy to Wish Kids and their families.  In addition, he has donated funds through his foundation, Random Act Funding,” providing resources to help make other children’s wishes come true,” reads the award citation. “One of today’s most popular actors, Robert is best known by Wish Kids for his role as Iron Man in the Iron Man and Avengers franchises, as well as his title role in the Sherlock Holmes franchise. Superheroes are of special importance to Wish Kids, as they provide escape from difficult medical treatments and embody the power that kids need to fight and stay strong.

“Among the many memorable wishes Robert has granted include: helping nine-year-old Domenic, who has cystic fibrosis, fulfill his wish to be a superhero; surprising seven-year-old Alex, who was born missing most of his right arm, by presenting him with a specially made replica of Iron Man’s famous arm; and welcoming 17-year-old Cameron, an enthusiastic Avengers fan, to spend the day with him during production on the set.”

Of course he did.

Congratulations, Robert!!!

Okay imagine Steve and buckys kid calling Steve daddy and buck mommy And so their son goes to school and the other kids are talking about how pretty their mommies are and he tells all the other kids how pretty his mommy is, how his mommy has long and pretty hair and is the most beautiful mommy ever, and the other children’s parents hear steves kid talking about his beautiful mommy and they go “awwwww! He must have a quite beautiful mother if he talks about her like that!” And then this giant ass dude, like 7 feet tall, ripped af, with a fucking metal arm and scruff shows up and their kid runs up to bucky yelling “mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” And this big ass dude with a metal arm just scoops him up and is like ‘ah yes my child this one is mine let’s go see ur father u lil nerd’ And everyone is like “???????????”

”It’s funny how much these two already mean to me. I never was really friends with Iron Man or even cared to meet him. But after talking with him he changed my life and the way I thought about things. I witnessed a completely different man than what the tabloids said. He’s a responsible father to four beautiful children with one on the way. It makes him the most influential and inspiring Avenger, ever. It’s because of him I needed to have Madlene.”

“My dear sister-in-law, words cannot describe how much you mean to me and how much your wisdom has helped me in approaching fatherhood. Your strength and support allows Tony to save the world and not have to be overly concerned with things at home. You are the hero and anchor of your home. I cannot stress how much our conversation about parenthood was a blessing to me. It helped me understand my pregnant girlfriend more and it also helped me understand what I have to do to make sure Madlene has a safe entrance into the world. Maria and Helen are lucky to have you as a mother. God bless you.”

Anyway requests are open!

Has playing Iron Man for so many years turned Robert Downey Jr. into a real superhero? The Avengers: Age of Ultron star just really went out of his way to cheer up Daniel, a young Iron Man fan with cystic fibrosis.

After a tough day at school where a classmate told Daniel that “all children with CF [cystic fibrosis] die,” Daniel’s mom posted this Instagram.

So what did “Mr. Stark” do? He posted a photo in response, dressed up as the one and only Tigger. Citing the fact that dressing up as the Hundred Acre Wood’s most exuberant resident cheers him up, he took the post one step further by inviting Daniel to be his guest at the premiere of Captain America: Civil War.

Naturally, Daniel and his mom were both over the moon. Daniel is already worried about getting fitted for a tuxedo to feel “like a real star”.

Score one for the good guys, and we can’t wait to see Mr. Stark and Daniel at the premiere.
