most important part of the trailer!!!

i love the framing of the teaser trailer too, like bbc is like “we all know that bill is the single most important and exciting part of this so we’re going to save her for last”

-that’s right
-and the most important takeaway
-I probably missed stuff
-but I was a little overwhelmed

I got to the convention center last night at 10 pm (panel started at 10:30 am).  I slept on the concrete floor in line (inside, thankfully).  It. Was. All. Worth. It.

honestly the most important part of that trailer is the fact that the paladins have a front-facing camera…..

like knowing that lance, a sentimental person with a strong sense of family and community, is out there taking selfies with new friends?? capturing the faces of people he might not be able to visit later??? preserving memories that he can use to ground himself when he feels lost in space???? creating cute reminders of all the people that he’s positively influenced???? incredible.

OK SO. If Keith’s mom is one of the women a part of Lotor’s elite, it has to be the one who looks most human.

  • Obviously half altean. Maybe she’s related to the throne and was exiled like Lotor.
  • She was the one in the weblum. They have the same exact suit.
  • She’s fighting Keith in the trailer. Mother vs Son - lots of drama can come out of that, especially if neither know that they’re related to each other.
  • Her looking so human is important. It’s the only thing that can explain why Keith, who is part galra, looks so human. She and the other three a part of her squad are all half galra, and yet they all have unique designs that show a mix of various alien races. Keith can’t be half galra and look so human. He’s gotta have a mixed race mother who is part of a humanoid race. The human genes dominated the galra and because he’s part altean, maybe his morphing abilities have physically changed his appearance to hide any galra traits so he could blend in with his environment?
  • Obviously important and not just in an antagonist way.

I know people wanted big galra mom but the fact is it’s just not plausible and we gotta remember Hunk’s quote from season 2: “Just how Galra are you?”

Keith is half human, part galra, and part altean.

“The Voltron fandom is garbage,” but could we make it good?

Most of the talk of the Voltron fandom nowadays is really negative, so much so that it has a reputation. There are people who don’t even watch the show, and all they know about it is that “the fans are terrible.”

And honestly? I understand where that reputation comes from. Between ship wars, and borderline obsessive callouts and taking these conflicts to the cast and crew themselves, I agree that some of these things have gotten completely out of control. But if you’re unhappy with that behavior, then do what you can to change it!

A bad reputation comes from attention. When people give attention to the ugly behavior, that ugliness gets spread to others, and they want to respond to it. It’s a fight that doesn’t need to be fought, and one that will never be resolved.

Drama is bound to happen, obviously, and people will always disagree. But the response, and the value given to it is what matters most. As easy as it is to find drama around here, it’s also really easy to just…avoid it.

I’ve heard a lot of fans recently talking about how the release of the season 3 trailer reminded them of how much they love the show, and how bogged down everyone feels by the behavior of the fandom. And that’s what should be the most important part of a fandom! We calls ourselves fans because we love what is being created, and use that love to create things as well.

When I see fanart, or fanfiction, or edits, or headcanons, or just people talking about the things they love here; that’s where I find the positivity. This is a huge fanbase, filled with some very talented and kind people. That’s where the focus should be: on those who find inspiration behind something creative, and use that as a means to foster their creativity and positivity.

So maybe this is a callout of my own, towards everyone who likes this show. If you find yourself dissatisfied with the way fans behave, then removing behavior that takes work. Not every negative comment, or message, or post needs to be acknowledged, and it doesn’t necessitate a response. Not every opinion that contradicts yours needs to be debated or fought over. The point of being in a fandom is to explore what doesn’t show up on screen, to find inspiration and happiness in something you love and share that with others.

That is the goal of my blog, and I hope it could be the goal of yours, too. No matter what you create, or even if you don’t, you control what shows up on your blog, and you have the power to make it something good.

I love this show, I love its characters, and I love its fans. I love the ones who have ideas similar to mine, and I love the ones who think completely differently. It’s inspiring to see how everyone can find their own truth and beauty in the same thing.

Negativity will be out there, and it will be present in every fandom! The only difference between them is the attention it is given, and how you respond to it. It’s important to remember that the ones who speak loudest aren’t necessarily the voice of the larger group. If you think that the fans of this show are “garbage,” then separate yourself from it! Spread love when you see hate. Create something good if you see something bad. Share the things that make you happy, and ignore the things that upset you. Remember that everyone has their own opinion, their own idea, and their own voice, and that letting someone use theirs doesn’t need to silence yours.

I don’t typically like asking people to spread posts, because like I said, you control what you post, but. I think that if you stand for positivity, creativity, and sharing something good with others, then it’s important to make that known, whether that means reblogging this, telling others in your own words, or taking action without a big statement. I love this community, and I would love to see it change into something more kind. Negativity might be the norm, but it doesn’t have to stay the norm. And everyone likes a good redemption story, right?

Long story short, I love you all, genuinely. I believe you want to show your love for this show, and make it a good place for you to be. I don’t care who you are or what you believe, I want your experience in this fandom to be a good one, and I will do what I can to make sure you can have that, and that I can have it to. Be good! Do good! Fight hate with love, because that’s the only thing that can defeat it.

So I think we all know it’s pretty likely that Steve is going to die in Wonder Woman. I’m not really prepared for it because it will be heartbreaking but it is the most likely thing to happen.

I’ve been wondering for a while how he’ll die, and my prediction is he’ll be killed by the deadly gas we’ve seen referenced many times in the trailers and posters. I believe we’ve learned from early looks at the movie that Steve discovers this gas at a German base, and goes to London to warn everyone about it. This gas is clearly an important part of the film. They’ve shown it in the trailers and TV spots:

We’ve also seen it on the posters:

In the very first footage that we saw from the movie, there was a shot of Diana walking through the gas:

Considering how many times the gas has been shown in the trailers, and how it’s a consistent element on the posters, it’s going to be important. And I think having Steve die as a result of the gas would be particularly poignant because, as we see from the shot of her walking through it, the gas would have no effect on Diana. So as Steve dies because of the gas, Diana would be fine. To add an extra layer of heartbreaking, this would be something that Diana simply cannot save him from. She can fight soldiers and gods, but she can’t stop a poison running through his veins. The powerlessness she would feel while watching him die would be quite powerful.

So yeah, that’s how I predict Steve is going to die.

Are people really out here trying to make The Last Jedi’s whole balance theme about their ugly toxic ship like…

Lets get one thing straight my girl Rey doesn’t need no pasty emo boy/man to create a balance between the light and the dark cause she’s gonna bring balance to the galaxy all on her lonesome… Crazy, I know right. A woman who doesn’t need a man to complete any part of her life to help her be a heroine or who doesn’t need to be placed in an unnecessary love story to hold significance as a character… I mean who knew.

On a another note I’m gonna break down the trailer and poster to show what I (an intellectual) got from it.

Luke: What do you see

Rey: Light

Rey: Darkness

Rey: A Balance

Luke: It’s so much bigger

Okay so I feel like these were the most important scenes of the trailer because it really sets the tone of what this story will be about which is BALANCE. Throughout the whole star wars saga there’s always been these two opposing forces battling it out. The good and the bad, the light and the dark, a jedi or a sith. There’s never been anything else set to contradict this, you’re either one or the other. Yet what if there was another option, one that could stop this never ending battle between the light and the dark side of the force. What if you could chose both an therefore end these two opposing forces once and for all.

Luke: It’s time for the Jedi to end

Now it would take someone pretty strong (a chosen one perhaps) to bring this balance, but why Rey… Well first of all we don’t know anything about her, her linage, why she was basically placed in hiding, why the force called to her so strongly when she touched Luke’s lightsaber giving her that vision of the past, present, and perhaps the future, and how it basically helped her defeat kylo ren in tfa without any proper training (that we know of). The mystery behind her is what makes her more dangerous and more powerful. As a fan of the series I would love for her to be a Skywalker or even a Kenobi, but she might not be either. She might be the child of a sith or of a sith and a jedi, she might even be a freaking force baby, who knows. What has been shown though is that the force calls to her strongly and not just the light side.

When she fought Kylo Ren in TFA she reaches the force and lets it in

and while she’s fighting she becomes more ruthless striking kylo harder than before and while he’s down she gives him this look

where you can clearly see her struggle between killing him (dark side) and letting him go (light side).

Now the Poster is another huge indicator as to Rey being the balance between the light and dark side of the force

In the poster you see Luke (light) and Kylo Ren (dark) mirroring each other on opposite sides and the thing that divides them is Rey holding her lightsaber which splits between them both in blue and red light. Also if you look closely at the shape the lightsaber makes it resembles a symbol shown in the trailer

which happens to be the jedi order symbol which I’m assuming will be shown to us in the jedi temple and lets not forget that in the trailer Rey says “a balance” when the image appears.

In conclusion my girl Rey is the BALANCE and she’s gonna save the galaxy like a BOSS and y'all can keep your ship

The Music Matters

You, if you really are invested in this beautiful franchise that is Star Wars, probably know by now that these movies do not take Music choice as a light decision. Music is symbolic of more than you would think of at first, and this series has used music as a way to convey emotions, changes, and atmosphere. It’s symbolic and important. And let’s talk about how this applies to Reylo, our wonderful trash bag of a ship. The important part of the Reylo symbolism, is how the light and soft flutes music (Rey’s theme) transitions into the dark Vader like music (Kylo’s theme) is. Not. A. Coincidence. And then the way it forms the entire main theme, and the trailer gets super intense. That. Is. Not. A. Fucking. Coincidence. It’s symbolic of the fact that the bond or connection between Kylo Ren and Rey is one of the main ideas of this movie, and composes most of the key plot that contributes to the entire story, and it effects the larger stories around it. Their relationship, no matter platonic, romantic or as enemies, will build to something larger than the both of them, especially the take down of the First Order and Snoke himself; As the music does in the trailer. The two themes meet, and then explode into something greater, which is the core of the trailer and where everything gets climactic and intense. And none of this can be a coincidence, because Disney is in for the long haul with these movies; they are going all out with every detail. Including the music. The complex stories and explorations of humanity that Reylo provides for this series, is almost a no brainer, no matter what kind of relationship reylo turns out to be.

The structure of the teaser trailer — which only features Jamie’s voice, not Claire’s — could also offer an interesting clue about Season 3.

The show has rarely strayed from Claire’s point-of-view so far, with her voiceover serving as our guide through the series, but Season 3 differentiates itself from the previous two by showing Claire and Jamie’s parallel journeys in different time periods, covering a span of two decades.

Does this mean we might get more episodes with Jamie’s voiceover as well as Claire’s, to give us insight into his journey over the years he spends without her? Certainly, the show will have to rely on his POV instead of Claire’s while he’s alone in the 18th century, but we’ll have to wait and see whether that extends to the show’s signature storytelling technique — or whether Season 3 will cut back on the VO altogether now that Claire and the audience have a handle on her time-traveling adventures.

While it’s clear that Claire and Jamie will have to go through a lot before they reunite, the most important part of the teaser trailer is what Jamie says right at the end: “I’ll find you, I promise.”

Much like this endless droughtlander, no matter how long that takes, we know it’ll be worth the wait.

Actually, a slightly more cohesive thought before I dive into work:

My issue is very specifically targeted at the marketing of Andromeda, not the game itself. I might end up loving the game. It might end up being my favorite Mass Effect or even BioWare game. Who knows? Not me, because I haven’t played it.

And the thing is, my hopes for this game were very basic:

  • I wanted to be able to play as a lady.
  • I wanted to explore some cool new locations that are vast but not overwhelming and big with purpose.
  • I wanted gameplay that’s similar to the original trilogy, but tweaked and enhanced as needed.
  • I wanted to be able to enjoy a romance with a character as a lady Ryder. (Vetra has caught my attention the most, but I have no explicit expectations. I’m honestly open to exploring any organically developing relationship between any available romance regardless of gender.)

I know I can play as a woman. But so far, I’ve only seen her in the field taking action once. Our first introduction to her was as a soft, breathy, very pretty lady waking up. Our most recent meeting with her has her relegated to a damsel in distress type position.

I know that the locations look amazing, although I’m apprehensive about having them as big as they’ve been bragging about. The combat does look fun, but I won’t know for sure how I like it until I’m in control. But the marketing in this regard is as expected.

I have little to no idea who I can romance as a lady Ryder. In and of itself, I am actually not at all bothered by this. I was actually kind of excited when it was announced (by Flynn, I think) that they were going to keep the romances a secret because I was really looking forward to going into this blind. I remember how thrilling it was finding out that romances were a thing when I first played Origin–I was totally up for experiencing something similar.

But then they release two major story trailers showing bro Ryder intimately involved with two female companions?

Romances aren’t even the most important part of the game to me. Yes, I thoroughly enjoy what they can add to a story, but I play plenty of games where it’s not available. Sometimes I even opt out in games where it is. But if you’re going to show us that it is integrated into the story and promote it as a major selling point for the game, acknowledge that your fanbase is far more diverse than players who want to play a guy romancing a woman.

I’m just tired of having to trust developers that they’re aware that I’m a part of a demographic that supports their games. Fucking show me that players like me aren’t a second thought and I’ll happily pre-order your game. Entice me with your trailers and I’ll pay full price and then some for DLC. Keep sidelining us and I’ll just stick to Steam sales and Origin discounts.

ETA - Just because a few people have mentioned this: I’m aware that EA likely plays a greater role in the marketing decisions than BW. Nevertheless, my complaints are directed towards whatever teams and individuals have made these decisions regardless of affiliation, and my tags are for easy blacklisting purposes. “bioware critical” is more commonly used than “ea critical.”

in light of the slightly longer- by a whole 2 seconds- trailer I will reiterate:

the only malec fight I will accept is one about Alec getting upset about shadowhunters dying and Magnus dead ass pointing out that shadowhunters have been doing this to downworlders for years and years and years.

it’s the only fight worth having between them and it’s the most important one. thus far them being different races has only mattered in terms of how shadowhunters are not supposed to being dating downworlders. basically about Alec’s part in this. the far more important fight is Magnus as a downworlder loving Alec but still existing in this oppressive society where he can never be on equal ground with the man he loves. about Magnus existing between these two things. and how Alec has to learn to navigate that. yes worry about your family, don’t expect your downworlder boyfriend to go to war on behalf of your race against his own. this is something Alec really needs to see and learn and grow from.

any other fight is stupid and a cop out. so @ freeform/shadowhunters don’t fuck this up.

edit: Fucking fuck, some people. Dead ass is not a name I’m calling Magnus. Fucking shit. It means I want Magnus to straight up, flat out, DEAD ASS tell Alec these things. No kid gloves. Why the fuck would I name call Magnus when I’m a fucking Magnus stan? Can people calm the fuck down before you come at me?

My “StevenBomb 6″ Predictions - Spoilers -

Ok, first of all, I thought the In Too Deep (aka SB 4) trailer was crazy intense and un-Cartoon Network-like, but this blows it out of the water. The other one was creepy, but this one is just… insane. And random, it just hits you with like: “oh and by the way here are 5 new things you now have to worry about until May 8″. Here’s a link.

But let’s go. First of all, let’s skip Lion 4: Alternate Ending, the 1/5 episode. Reason: it’s been leaked, I watched the leak, it’s pretty straight forward what it is by now. But just as a catch-up: Steven finds a tape that tells him that originally, Rose and Greg didn’t know which gender he’d be, and that the female option for the name was Nora. He also learned that he doesn’t have a destiny to fullfill, he’s just meant to be Rose’s child.

Next is Doug Out, where “Connie and Steven help Doug (Connie’s dad) on a stake out”. Nothing surprising since he is a security guard. It’s safe to assume that most, if not all of the clips containing Connie are from this episode, since she isn’t in any other description. So let’s think. I think the episode is going to start with the first scene of the episode, with Connie and Steven reminiscing about the Out Of This World (aka SB 5) events. We see Steven raise a fry bit up in the air, which is an interesting choice of perspective and shot.

This and the fact that everytime Steven is eating frybits in the boardwalk there seems to be some kind of spaceship coming from the sky (Laser Light Canon and The Return’s intro scenes), I think that they’re both going to see a spaceship fly by, or in the distance at least. Indignation, they decide they must understand what it means, so when Doug invites Connie for a stake out mission (Daughter’s Day at Work style), Steven joins in, with the parallel mission to find where the spaceship has landed or crashed while Doug does the stake out. But, who is he looking for? Well, strangely enough, I think he’s searching for Onion.

We know that because of this shot, Onion is actually wanted by someone, possibly Mister Smiley due to the picture being at the arcade. Doug could very well be on a mission to follow Onion to see what he’s up to. Strange I know, it’s Onion so… Anyways, that explains why in several other clips we see Steven and Connie on the middle of the forest. It looks like its the same on from Onion Gang, and Steven probably link Onion with the forest now, so either they follow Onion there or they go there to look for Onion.

(the first 2 are from the trailer, the last is from Onion Gang)

The episode culminates, when both Doug’s and the kids missions come together, as they not only find Onion but they also find the spaceship, abducting Onion. This sort of explains this scene, since the show rarely deviates from Steven’s POV.

What exactly are they fighting in the forest, we can’t really tell. I don’t think it’s the new gems, because that would ruin the ominous reveal of Onion’s abduction, unless I’m missing something with the actual order of the clips, which I might ‘:P. Another flaw to this theory is that, I don’t think Steven will actually realize that abductions are happening until much later, so idk…

Next to The Good Lars. I think that after Lars realization in The New Lars, (episode name parallels), that people like him more when he behaves like Steven and is nice like Steven, he’ll invite Steven to the party he and Sadie are going to, to mimic him in impressing the Cool Kids. This will mostly likely backfire somehow, but that’s not important because we got the only clip in the trailer for this episode (possibly).

Steven and Sadie part ways after the party and that’s pretty much all that happens.

Now, one of the most weird titles in all of SU: Are You My Dad? If this was a brazilian soap opera I’d get it, but it’s a sci-fi show about a kid. Why is there a random fatherless child now. Obviously the ominous sound clip in end is from this episode, seeing it is the title of the episode. But it’s a new voice… a british child voice. Noone from beach city, I think it’s either one of the new Gems or a kid we haven’t seen yet. Now, this is how I think the episode will go:

Steven wakes up and Beach City is eerie. He goes to the Big Donut, notices the lack of Sadie and calls her, only to have Barb tell him Sadie never came home. Steven worries and starts to link things up and realises that people are being abducted, and so he goes to the Gems and mystery solving ensues, until he finds the new gems, confronts them but pretends to be a human, which is the best way to catch these gems’ attention since they’re kidnapping humans amirite? So we have this scene of the Gems worrying about what he’s doing and he assures it will all be alright. He lets himself be kidnapped with the thumbs up scene, and the whole I’m not my mom shpiel, as Pearl cries watching the ship leave. Inside the ship, Steven is escorted to a row of cells (Jailbreak style) and a bunch of unknown human are there, including a kid that hears his steps and asks “Are you my dad?”, as Steven sees the number of humans kidnapped.

In I Am My Mom, Steven goes forward with his plan of saving all the humans, but in the process reveals to the new gems that he is Rose Quartz. I don’t think any clip is from this episode, but of course I can be wrong, I really don’t know what to make of this episode… idk.

Other clips include Garnet punch, maybe from the end of Are You My Dad during the CG vs. New Gems encounter, and Steven’s phone, which could be from the beggining of Are You My Dad, as he calls everyone to see if they’re alright, but panics when learning they’re not.

I do want to note that the “Are you my dad?” line sound very fabricated and like a recording of sorts, it doesn’t sound natural… I was thinking it could also be Nora somehow, maybe in a Steven dream or something. I’m just so confused by the line in general, it makes no sense regarding the show’s direction, it’s so new yet so weird idk…
