Skyfire leaned down, so he could look straight into Tris’s eyes. Nervous, the girl backed up a step, then two, until she collided with Briar. The boy held on to her. Two more steps, and they would both go off the wall. - Tris’s Book
While getting off a plane at JFK, the hat of a woman in front of me caught my eye. It said “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Not only do I love both Margaret Atwood’s book and Hulu’s adaptation so far, but I’ve also blogged about it for the past two months as part of my dystopian literature cosplay project. Basically, I had to know where this woman got her hat.
I stepped up to approach her and said, “Excuse me, can I ask where you got that hat?” But midway through my sentence, she turned and I saw who it was. Elisabeth Moss. Cue #myhandmaidstale fan moment. She was absolutely lovely and so gracious with her time. I showed her two pictures from my Handmaids cosplay (she said it was so cool!) and got to take a selfie.
Moral of the story: keep your head up and eyes open, you never know who you’ll run into, never give up on your nerdy side projects, powerhouse actress Elisabeth Moss is the nicest person you’ll ever run into at JFK, and, as always, don’t let the bastards grind you down.
Well, one day you’re there and then, all of a sudden there’s less of you, and you wonder where that part went, if it’s living somewhere outside of you. And you keep thinking maybe you’ll get it back. And then you realize it’s just gone.
