Berlin Marathon Training: Week 1
The first week of the Hanson’s Marathon is more of a half week really. Monday and Tuesday don’t have anything listed at all in the plan and Wednesday is marked as a day “off.” Now, under normal circumstances I would have still run yesterday morning but it was pouring rain when I woke up and I thought, “nope, I don’t have to do this yet.”
I know that over the next 18 weeks I’m going to go through plenty of rainy runs, bad runs, hot and humid runs, runs that make me want to curl up on the cool floor in the basement and cry and runs that will make me feel like I can go forever. That’s the wonderful, terrifying part of marathon training: it will chew you up and spit you out and somehow you will still love doing it. I’m excited to get started again.
But yesterday, I took a day off to appreciate the luxury of not having to actually do anything.
