more music should be like this

Headcanon that one day, after Christine has returned from Erik’s home and after she saw his face, Christine gets a small note from the opera ghost (who she now knows is actually plainly named Erik). It simply asks if she’ll visit with him that afternoon, and that they can go on a carriage ride or stay in and enjoy music together if she should like.

Of course she doesn’t exactly want to go, but when she spots a pair of sad eyes watching her above the stage she decides to accept his invitation.

And so Christine meets Erik that afternoon in her dressing room and he’s much more talkative and almost giddy acting. After 20 minutes in his home, with Erik talking a million miles per hour and switching between trying to entertain her and showing off different objects in his home, she finally asks him bluntly why he asked her to visit today.

And then Erik gets really quiet and shy, and he won’t look at her only at the ground. Christine is afraid she has somehow upset him with her question, but then she hears him mumble, “Today is my birthday.”

He just wanted to have someone to talk to on his birthday, and there’s no one else he would rather see than her.

This is a call out post.

@the-name-is-goldilocks is a wonderful young person. She is intelligent, talented, and kind. She is very creative and resourceful. On top of that she is very pretty, musically inclined, and politically aware.

You all should go on her blog and send her anon love or something. She can’t go on ignored much longer.

And while I’m at it, I’d like to point out that @killjoys-and-desertkids, @twice-as-shiny and @anthemofthezones are also really nice people who should not live a normal boring life devoid of asks telling them so. I also would like to say that I think we should chat more or something!

Today in Music History - March 23, 1957, “I’m Walkin’” by Fats Domino tops the Billboard R&B chart

Although to our “modern” ears the title should be more like “I’m Stalkin’,” somehow I just don’t see Fats Domino descending to that level of creepy. He’s too darned cheerful. You get the feeling that if the object of his desire continues to ignore him, he’ll blithely move on. I think.

(And it’s comforting to note that Fats is still with us. He, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis are all still here.)

8tracks alternative

hey, so mourning the slow death of 8tracks, a lot of people are looking for alternatives. i know suan.fm has been suggested a lot but it doesn’t have any built-in community interaction as of yet,, BUT!!!

playmoss.com  is RLY GREAT and it has all the basic fuckin features that 8tracks always should have had like:
- see the entire tracklist
- start the playlist from any point
- unlimited skips and listening
- see how many playlists contain a certain song
- see top listeners of a playlist
- collaborative playlists!!
etc etc !!!  plus while it does have a “subscription”” it Only allows you to upload music files directly instead of linking from youtube and soundcloud. doesn’t add more than that or punish you for not paying

this sounds like an advertisement but i just want a community to start building there so we can rise above 8tracks’ tyrannical management :^)
p.s.  yes it does have a mobile app!!

They should be able to say that they don’t like a certain group without getting attacked,
They should not be afraid to say that they don’t like all the songs from a certain group,
They should not be afraid to say that they like one member over the other from a certain group.
They should feel safe to openly express an opinion without the fear of being attacked and tormented.
Kpop is music. It’s a genre of music and nothing more then that. If you’re going to get offended by the littlest matters, then I’m sorry to say, but you’re in way too deep.

9 Practical Tips for New Witches

1.  Write down a list of your current passions, interests, goals, and beliefs.  Knowing this information can help you to develop your witchcraft and to make it more personal.  It’s important to feel a deep connection to your own style of craft, so it is incredibly helpful to incorporate the things that you love in life. While it’s a good idea to think of and list serious things, it’s 100% okay if your list mostly contains entries like ‘shiny things, stuff that smells good, My Chemical Romance’; you should definitely add entries like that, because that right there still tells you that you’ll probably enjoy using reflective objects, aromatherapy, and music in your witchcraft.  The entries on your list can help you to creatively think of ways to make your magick yours, while still helping you to identify any pre-existing styles and paths of witchcraft that incorporate elements of your list.

2.  Keep a regular journal, along with any magick journals that you might have.  Keep track of your health, your dreams, your moods, your habits, your life in general. When you are first starting out, it can be difficult to automatically see how magick affects you.  By keeping a mundane, regular journal, you’re better able to reference past events against your magick journals, to see if any changes or unusual entries (negative or positive) occurred at the same time as something witchcraft-related.

3.  Sign up for as many guided nature walks and talks as you can.  It’s always a good idea to know the nature around you, especially if you’re a witch. Guided walks and talks can give you first-hand experience when it comes to identifying plants, animals, and other things that you can find in your area. If it is allowed, remember to bring along a camera and / or a notebook so that you can record and reference your new knowledge afterwards.

4.  Take an interest in cooking.  This is an especially good tip for any witches that are looking to hide their witchcraft.  Learning to cook is a life skill, and doesn’t tend to draw unwanted attention.  The food, herbs, and spices that you use all have their own magickal correspondences and associations, so it really comes down to figuring out some ingredients that match your magick’s intent, and then finding an actual recipe that calls for those ingredients.

5.  Start your own garden, no matter how small. Seeds can be affordable purchased at most stores with gardening centers, and you can grow some herbs in a leftover tin can.  Really, you don’t need a lot of space or cash to be able to start some sort of garden, whether indoors or outdoors.  Just make sure that wherever you are planting, you have permission to plant there!

6.  Develop your DIY skills.  Crafting, sewing, upcycling – spend some time learning about the ‘Do It Yourself’ culture.  Aside from being an excellent way to learn how to create your own tools and witchy stuff, a lot of the skills that you will learn can be incorporated into your spells.  So can any supplies that you have on hand for regular arts and crafts, for that matter. And when you get right down to it, nobody has to know that your handmade lavender lip-balm is actually an enchanted item and a dual healing / beauty spell.  Making anything by hand helps to give it power, and can be another great way to practice witchcraft under-the-radar; unless you literally announce that your felt-and-an-old-sock plushie is actually a poppet, how can anybody know?

7.  Find places to source your witchy ingredients and supplies. Look up and scout out any local:

o   Book stores

o   Box stores (like Walmart, Target)

o   Craft stores

o   Dollar stores

o   Farm stands

o   Farmer’s markets

o   Flea markets

o   Garden stores / Nurseries

o   Libraries

o   Hiking trails

o   Metaphysical / New Age stores

o   Rockhounding locations

o   Tea / herb stores

o   Thrift stores

o   Rock / crystal / mineral shops

8.  Build a non-fiction library.  Cookbooks, how-to books, field guides, books that teach you skills. History books, scientific magazines and journals, textbooks on any topic.  Read about first-hand accounts, theories and practices, facts and trivia. Read educational books meant for kids, and encyclopedias meant for months of study.  Don’t be afraid to check your material against a different source, either.  Finding multiple sources citing a piece of knowledge is a good habit to develop, especially if your knowledge deals with the safety or danger of anything.  Whether it was posted online or published in a book, make sure that the author’s information is accurate!

9.  Collect and upcycle bottles, jars, tins, and other storage.  It’s a running joke here on Tumbler: ‘witches love jars’. But wow is it an accurate joke.  There have been a couple of times that I’ve come home with new loose supplies like shells or acorns, only to stand there and realize that literally all of my other storage is taken and that unless I want to stick them in a plastic bag, I have to temporarily store them by taking the last few Piroutte cookies out of the tin and giving it a quick cleaning (and now you know the exact moment that I thought of posting about this tip! lol).  Practicing witchcraft can be a really quick way to turn into a self-powered miniature recycling plant; it’s a lot cheaper to clean that jelly jar than it is to go buy an actual Mason jar, and it’s usually better for the environment as well ^_^

Instruments as sayings from our band director
  • Flute: if I kill you, will you be more in tune?
  • Clarinet: If I had a dollar for every time the second chair clarinet squeaks in rehearsal, I would be God
  • Saxophone: Do you know what a C# is? I feel like I'm talking to a hedgehog
  • Trombone: Oh, you messed up that chord. What if I messed up your grade for this class?
  • Trumpet: If only our band was as big as a trumpet's ego
  • French Horn: Why can't you just pay attention? I'm a pretty person, that should be enough
  • Percussion: I could replace you with monkeys and I would get the same quality of music, but more entertainment
  • Guitar: You belong in a baguette shop
Guys help I’m emotional

So I wrote a thing- Its a Langst thing.

It isnt finished and its just in the ‘summarize’ stage but… I dont know if I should expand on it?

Read it under the cut if you wantttt

“Happy New Year messages”

SHOWNU: To. Monbebe ♡
Hi, hello, annyeong (hello). One year has already passed again. It feels like we ran really hard without time to rest with Monbebes. 2016 was where I felt thankful, happy, and even if I felt a bit tired and sorry, let’s spend and eventful 2017 together as well ㅎㅎ Bye, receive a lot of New Year’s fortune ♡ - Shownu

WONHO: To. Monbebe ♥
How was it, Monbebes? Do you feel like you spent last year well? To be honest, when I think about it, I feel like there are quite a few things I could have done better? I shouldn’t have tensed up on stage. When I got things wrong on stage or if it didn’t work out how I wanted it to, I would think that I should have slept less… I should have worked more on making music instead of wasting time… When I fall into thoughts like those just once, it’s hard to escape from it. However, whenever I thought like that, it was Monbebes who pulled me out from it. When I think about it like that, I was a happy person in 2016 as well. That’s why in 2017! I will become a person who can extend their hand towards Monbebes. - From Wonho, who always thinks about Monbebes on the rooftop late at night.

MINHYUK: To. Our Monbebes ♡
Hello! This is Minhyuk. The shining new year has arisen.

KIHYUN: To. Mon to the Be to the Be~~
Our Monbebes~ It’s been awhile since we met through text like this, right?!
To think that I’m really writing a post to finish up 2016, it feels quite weird and sad!! I think I spent the year of 2016 very busily! That would mean that I would’ve met Monbebes a lot, right? However, we still don’t feel like we’ve gotten out fill, so we’ll work harder and busier in order to show more and more stages and a better side of ourselves!! 2017! I ask that you take care of us in the upcoming year as well, Monbebes ♥ They say that the new year will be the Year of the Rooster, and that’s my year! That’s why I’ll put all my strength in making it the year of Monbebes and Monsta X!! I always love you, my Monbebes ♥ 2017, fighting! - Kihyun

HYUNGWON: To. Monbebe ♡
Starting from No.Mercy to now, this is the third January 2st that we are celebrating.
I feel like time goes by so quickly.
This amount of time can be seen as short and long at the same time, but I feel like it was a time for a lot of good memories.
When I think about how we’ll be able to spend this time and these moments continuously in the future with Monbebes, I feel happy.
Although there were probably many happy events, sad events, good events, and bad events during last year for everyone, it’s January 1st now, right?
Throw away all your bad memories and let’s spend 2017 together well with just the good memories and good feelings!!
I ask that you take care of us this year too, Monbebe. - Hyungwon

JOOHEON: To. Monbebe ♡
Starting from 2015, it’s already… 2017 now, Monbebe!
I thought about and wondered what I should do in order to give happiness to everyone, and thought that in 2017, we will continue to think more and work harder ♡
Monbebes, receive a lot of New Year’s fortune!
And don’t forget that we’re able to stand on stage because Monbebes exist ♡
I love you, everyone!! ♡ - From. Jooheonnie, who will give happiness to Monbebes in 2017 ♡

I.M: To. Monbebe~ ♥
I’m here~ Monbebe! You missed me, right? Me too ♥ No, I missed you more.
2016 has already passed like this, and the new hope-filled 2017 is greeting us.
Did the wishes you had for last year come true?
Even if they didn’t come true, let’s continue to work towards it together.
I, Monsta X, and Monbebes! will support each other together.
Also, I love you. I’m sorry that I’m always insufficient and lacking in expressing this. However, my heart is always warm~ ♥
I hope you and I both receive a lot of New Year’s luck! And we! Let’s walk forth full of strength! Let’s grow together, our Monbebes~ (Once more, I love you) - I.M

9 Books to Read If You’re Obsessed With Musical Theater

Looking for someone to relate to when you’re geeking out to musical theater? Some of the books below were inspired by broadway plays, some star musical geniuses of their own, and some were written by the stars themselves. Does it get any better?!

Alex and Eliza: A Love Story by Melissa de la Cruz

One word: Hamilton. Need we say more? Yes? Ok, ok. Alex and Eliza is the reimagined love story of Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler. Author Melissa de la Cruz was inspired to write this after she and her daughter saw the musical and her daughter wanted to know more about Eliza. “Hamilton should be called Eliza, Mom; we wouldn’t know his story if she didn’t tell it!”

You in Five Acts by Una LaMarche

If you like Fame, then this is the book for you. This beautiful novel is told by five friends chasing their dreams at a performing arts school. Each of the characters, Joy, Diego, Ethan, Liv, and Dave, will change you in their owns ways as they look back at an unexpected event that upended everything.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green

Tiny Cooper’s best friend Will Grayson has a transformative year, culminating in the epic production of history’s most fabulous high school musical. Great for fans of 13!

Check out the rest here!

“It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this.”

Hi, everyone! If you’re like me and you love a good game soundtrack or a great playlist of all sorts of game music, this is the masterpost for you. I’m one of those people who studies better with some music in the background, and what better way of making a study session more enjoyable than by listening to the soundtrack of your favourite game?

Why listen to music while you study?

Multiple studies have proven that certain students who listen to music while they study perform better academically. Unfortunately, it’s not for everyone, so you should really figure out if this is the right method for you before commiting yourself to it! The main arguement for studying with music is that research has proved that listening to classical music in particular helps the brain absorb more information and also helps stimulate one’s thinking!

On the other hand, some people tend to lose all concentration when there’s any music or noise in the background, which leads to procrastination and lower productivity. In short, if you can’t concentrate on the task at hand and get distracted easily, this isn’t the best method for you!

Playlists

I started actively looking for playlists with game music about two years ago and instantly fell in love. There are so many good playlists of various lengths and genres that are accessable on platforms like spotify, 8tracks, youtube, etc. All of the playlists include the tracklist in the description below them!

Note: I won’t be adding any playlists from 8tracks because they only work in the US and Canada.

i. General

Game music for studying: Some of you might have already heard of these videos before. They’re roughly an hour and a half long and include some of the more calming tracks from a lot of different games. All the names of the tracks are listed in the description below, which is super handy if you want to find out which game it’s from! I thought I’d put in the playlist of all of them so you can just press play and enjoy!

Video game music! 2.0: Probably the longest playlist you’ll find anywhere. a n y w h e r e. 223 hours of amazingness that you’ll never regret!

ii. Calming/ relaxing

5 hours of atmospheric game music: This is one of my personal favourites. It’s very long so you don’t have to worry about looking for another playlist when this one finishes.

Relaxing video game music: Another gem! Once again with all the tracks in the description. This one’s great for shorter study sessions since it’s only and hour long.

More relaxing  video game music: If the previous playlist was too short for you, check out this 3 hour one! I used this one a lot last year!

Calming Nintendo music: A super great playlist for all you Nintendo fans! It includes some really nice tracks from the Legend of Zelda series, if you’re into those soundtracks!

Jesper Kyd playlist: Ever since I first played Assassin’s Creed 2, I’ve loved Jesper Kyd’s work. This is quite a long playlist including some of his best tracks from various games. My favourites are towards the end!

Relaxing Legend of Zelda music: You had to see this one coming. The LoZ series has some of the best soundtracks to study to (, in my opinion,) and some of the prettiest and most calming tracks. I highly recommend this 42 minute playlist for those times when you just don’t feel like working.

2 hours of sleepy video game music: This is also a little series of playlists. There are 4 of these videos in total, which adds up to 8 hours of sweet, sweet music.

iii. Epic/ badass

Epic video game music: For all of you who need a little badass music in the background! 2.5 hours of epic and awe inspiring music to really get some work done!

Focus - video game music: Spotify has some really great playlists, so I thought I’d include a few! This playlist is a little more epic and loud, but if that’s the mindset you really need to push through, this would be great for you. It’s an amazing 11 hours long so you’ll never run out.

Orchestral video game music: Another epic playlist, including the occasional lullaby. This is a 7 hour long playlist, so a little shorter than the previous one, but by no means less epic and badass!

Soundtracks

Compared to the playlists, soundtracks tend to be a mix of epic and calming music. Most games have their perilous moments and their I’m-so-relieved-I-managed-to-beat-that-boss-with-only-one-heart-left moments. The world of video games is vast, so I’ve selected a few of my favourite soundtracks to share with you instead of listing all of the ones I can find.

Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword: One of my favourite all time games! The soundtrack is long too, so you don’t have to worry about looking for a new one afterwards.

Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time: This game is widely believed to have the best soundtrack in video game history. All I can say is so sit down, gather your work and to just enjoy.

Final Fantasy VI: This 1994 gem has an avarage playtime of 65-70 hours. The game has such a good storyline and the soundtrack is a little old school with a lot of non-orchestral tracks. I’d still recommend this to everyone who likes an older style of video game.

Suikoden Tierkreis: I have memories of me just going to the overworld map so I could listen to the music. It’s that good.

Bioshock Infinite: I’ve only ever played the first in the series, but I watched a walkthrough of this particular game and I loved it so much! The music is slightly creepy and loud sometimes but it’s a really great soundtrack overall.

The Last of Us: Another game I’ve never actually played, but the walkthrough was amazing. The soundtrack is very atmospheric and doesn’t have a lot of loud parts, so it’s generally calm.

Assassin’s creed 2: My all-time favourite game ever. As you know from before, I think Jesper Kyd is amazing, so putting these two elements together makes a truly great game. The soundtrack is actually quite well known because a few of it’s most popular tracks are featured a lot in other playlists. E.g. Dreams in Venice and The Madam

The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim: I’ve listened to this one a few times and I think it’s really good! It starts off quite strong but it has a lot of calmer songs too.

Fable 2: The Fable series is well-known for being short, so the soundtrack is also on the shorter side. I know the dialogue in the game almost by heart and I can guarantee you that there’s a lot of atmospheric music in this soundtrack.

Fragile: This one was recommended to me by a friend on tumblr years ago. It has really sweet songs and has a lot of piano centered tracks.

Now get to work!

I hope I’ve helped you find the perfect game music to accompany you while you study! If you have any recommendations, feel free to send me a message! I’m always up to discovering new playlists/ soundtracks.

who asked for a high school musical au? was it nobody? oh cool, well here’s one anyway

  • new years eve is always cheerful with the foxes!
  • yeah i’m kidding
  • neil isn’t even at palmetto, mary died a little while back and he heard this party had free food and he wouldn’t stand out being a teenager on his own
  • andrew takes advantage of the fact that kevin won’t leave his side and takes him skiing
  • because andrew’s a little shit
  • and then he takes kevin to the party because there’s karaoke and he bets he can get kevin drunk enough to sing
  • (“it’s a teenager party! there won’t be actual drinks!” kevin protests)

“What am I in the eyes of most people — a nonentity, an eccentric, or an unpleasant person — somebody who has no position in society and will never have; in short, the lowest of the low. All right, then — even if that were absolutely true, then I should one day like to show by my work what such an eccentric, such a nobody, has in his heart. That is my ambition, based less on resentment than on love in spite of everything, based more on a feeling of serenity than on passion. Though I am often in the depths of misery, there is still calmness, pure harmony and music inside me. I see paintings or drawings in the poorest cottages, in the dirtiest corners. And my mind is driven towards these things with an irresistible momentum.” ― Vincent van Gogh

I think people should learn more about what they are listening to. They need/should actually HEAR what they are listening to every day. People generally listen to music because it “sounds” good. Not many people listen to songs for the lyrics. I think that people should, the band took the time to write the song, not just the instrumental part, but the lyric part to. I hear people say things like “Yeah that band rules” or “I love that band their music is so cool!” and they can’t even understand what the group is actually talking about. Songs from bands like RAMMSTEIN, KMFDM, NIN, M.M., and more popular ones like the bands played a lot on the radio. People could at least hop on the web and look at the song lyrics or find an English translation so they know what the band is saying, or maybe ask someone who is a big fan and who knows what the band is saying. It’s not that hard, and I think it will cut down on a lot of the people in this society that are shallow and naïve who just look at the front cover of a book, and not the pages… to twist around that quote a little.

My very first bullet journal spread! o(^▽^)o

I actually decided to start a bujo because I wanted to keep a list of “things to accomplish” daily so that I could (maybe) be more productive (⌒-⌒; ) I also really enjoyed the doodling factor and how creative the user could be with his/her bujo!

This week, I stumbled upon the beautiful music from Oh Wonder, so there are a few quotes here and there from their songs. The cover is also a lyric from “Livewire” by them.

Please also pardon my little mistakes like the smudges and it should be till the 20th as well hahaha.

Here’s to (hopefully) sticking to this planner and more imaginative days ahead x

Any new scoop on the Once Upon a Time musical? — Lisa
For starters, the musical is not a one-off. “The first thing people should understand is the musical is not a standalone — so it will be continuing the story,” EP Edward Kitsis says. “It’s not like, ‘Oh, we’re taking a break from all the intensity to do a musical!’ It is absolutely going to further what we’ve been doing and it sets up the finale.” The second thing you should know: “We’re doing all original songs,” Kitsis says. “You’re going to see a wide-range of people singing from regulars to cameos to people you wouldn’t expect.” EP Adam Horowitz adds: “You’ll probably see more people singing than you’d expect, and some fun in how it’s done.” Among those surprising faces also singing: Granny, Grumpy, Gepetto and Henry! As for the main cast, I can share that most of them will be singing and performing more than one song.
