moon marie

Have you ever really thought about how when you look at the moon, it’s the same moon Shakespeare and Marie Antoinette and Van Gogh and Cleopatra looked at.

Pretty rushed draw of Moon Spirit Mari. There’s a Sun Spirit Adrien to match this but I don’t have enough time to do both atm so here’s more on my Sun/Moon Spirit AU to explain that the spirits are not all fun and games.

  • Mari and Adrien are the eldest spirits, being around longer than any other in the spirit world.
  • Spirits all fight creatures of malice that roam around Earth to protect humans, it’s their job essentially.
  • They take something similar to job shifts lmfao, Mari fights during the night and of course, Adrien does his work during the day.
  • Mari has slain thousands of creatures of malice for centuries and is known to share the title of the most powerful spirit with Adrien.
  • This will make a lot of sense when you guys hear the full moon/sun backstory.
  • The only spirit on par with Mari is Adrien and vice versa.
  • Mari and Adrien’s power have been widely acknowledged by gods. It’s been speculated that both have the power to become gods, but neither have really took the oppurtunity.
  • That’s really all for now but the spirits have one more thing they do I have yet to reveal and of course the big backstory. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I’ve finally started WHEN THE MOON WAS OURS and I’m seriously in love with the writing style. It’s so beautiful!! 😍💜 I find myself reading the same sentences again and again just to savour the magic of Anna-Marie McLemore’s words 💖✨

“Someday, he and Miel would be nothing but a fairy tale. When they were gone from this town, no one would remember the exact brown of Miel’s eyes, or the way she spiced recado rojo with cloves, or even that Sam and his mother were Pakistani. At best, they would remember a dark-eyed girl, and a boy whose family had come from somewhere else. They would remember only that Miel and Sam had been called Honey and Moon, a girl and a boy woven into the folklore of this place.” || When the Moon was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore

Winter’s coming, but not fast enough. These books will tide you over until Game of Thrones season 6 premieres.

To the boys who get called girls,
to the girls who get called boys,
and those who live outside these words.
To those called names,
and those searching for names of their own.
To those who live on the edges,
and in the spaces in between.
I wish you every light in the sky.
