When the sky
and the moon
starts to appear
raise your head
for the lone star
We may be
yet I’m always
looking for you—
for me too.
ma.c.a // We look at the same star, At the same time
prompt: After years of always being by each other’s side, Shawn and reader are finally separated. The only question is, how will they hold up?
Author’s note: I’ve had this in my drafts since December but I had extreme writer’s block.
“take a piece of my heart, and make it all your own, so when we are apart, you’ll never be alone”
I was awake in bed, like I had been for a few nights now. Everything was so perfect for so long. But now, all I feel is conflict deep inside my bones. Why couldn’t life just stay easy? Why does everything have to change? More importantly, how do I tell him. I gripped the envelope in my hand, the envelope that would change everything. I was excited, I couldn’t deny that, but I was also distraught, to say the least. I looked up at the ceiling of my dimly lit room before turning my attention to the window; the calm, black sky was twinkling with stars. I smiled, trying to keep the image in my mind, as I would have to leave behind soon. I breathed hesitantly and reached for my phone. Just as I was dialing the number, I received a call, from him. I smiled gently and touched the green button.
“Hey, I was just about to call you.” I laughed into the phone.
“Maybe it’s telepathy.” Shawn joked. I giggled through the phone.
“I need to talk to you about something.” I breathed, my tone became serious and the mood became heavy. Shawn noticed this and his breath hitched in his throat.
“I need to tell you something too, but not tonight. Meet me in the tree house tomorrow at 8PM.” Shawn addressed
“The tree house? You’re kidding? How do you know we’ll even fit in there anymore.” I teased.
“Just trust me, it’s important.” Shawn sighed. My face relaxed and I remained silent for a while.
“Alright, I’ll meet you there Shawn.” I spoke in an all-too neutral tone. We whispered our goodbyes and ended the call.
I gently placed the phone back on my nightstand. Staring out the window, I smiled as I remembered Shawn’s voice, so soft and velvety, speaking to me moments ago. A calm breeze before the storm that was to come.
Even if we haven’t met each other yet
i’m always reminding myself
That we lay under the same stars, the same sky surrounded by the same dark matter and we two are living in the same universe
makes me smile
Warnings: Angst (i’m not the best at writing angst tbh), nightmares

35. “Why are you awake right now?”
You took a sip from the mug in your hand, letting the tea warm you up. You were sitting on the ground with the side of your face against the cold window. You couldn’t tear your eyes away from the full moon that lit up the sky. After hours of tossing and turning in bed you had decided to give up on sleeping. Instead, you sat in the living room and stared at the night sky while you got lost in thought.
“Why are you awake right now?” Someone asked, coming to sit on the ground next to you. You pulled your face from the glass to face Tony.
“I could ask you the same question. Shouldn’t you be sleeping?” You threw the question back at him, not wanting to answer.
“You’re avoiding my question, (Y/N).” Tony stated, understanding exactly what you were trying to do.
“I just couldn’t sleep. Too much has been on my mind.” You shrug, avoiding eye contact with him.
“You want to talk about it? That might help you sleep.” Tony suggested, an encouraging smile on his face.
You would have loved to take his offer, except for the fact that he had been the one on your mind. You had found yourself falling head over heels for Tony a couple of months ago. You wished you could just stop yourself, but you couldn’t. Being one of his best friends only made it worse. The fact that he hadn’t caught on by now was a miracle.
“Thanks for the offer, but I’d rather not.” You saw Tony frown and knew that you needed to change the subject. “You never answered my question. Why are you awake?”
“Uh, I got a lot on my mind too.” Tony muttered, running a hand through his messy hair.
“You want to talk about it?” You asked, subconsciously scooting closer to him.
“I would but…” Tony trailed off.
“It’s fine, I get it. You don’t need to tell me, but I’m here if you need me.” You smiled at him before turning back to the window.
The two of you sat in silence and your mind began to beg of you to tell him how you felt, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. What if it ruined the friendship you had formed with him? You loved Tony being in your life and if that meant that you could never express your feelings, you would be okay with that. You would do anything to keep him around.
“(Y/N),” Tony interrupted your thoughts, “I’ve been having nightmares again.” Tony admitted with a sigh.
“Are you o-” You were cut off by Tony pulling you into a tight hug.
You quickly hugged him back, letting his chin rest on your shoulder. You could hear him sniffle as he began to run a hand through your hair. You rubbed his back gently, hoping to calm him down in the slightest.
Tony pulled back from the hug only to cup your cheeks. His face was inches from yours. You could feel your heart hammering in your chest, but tried your hardest to ignore it. Now was not the time for you to be thinking about him romantically. You needed to be there as his friend.
“I need you to stay safe for me.” Tony hiccuped, attempting to hold back his tears.
“Tony, what are you-” You began, only to be cut off by Tony.
“(Y/N), listen to me! I need you to stay safe. I need you to stay away from danger.” Tony paused to calm his shaky breathing. “Please, don’t leave my side on the next mission. I don’t want something to happen to you.”
“Why do you think something is going to happen to me?” You asked, only for realization to hit you. “Is this what your nightmare was about?”
“I dreamed that you got killed on a mission and it was my fault.” Tony whispered, his warm breath hitting your face.
“I promise nothing is going to happen to me.” You reassured him.
“You don’t know that.” Tony shook his head. “You don’t understand, (Y/N). You are too valuable to put at risk.”
“What do you mean?” Tony couldn’t stop himself from rolling his eyes at your question.
“God, you’re oblivious.” Tony muttered.
Before you could reply, Tony had pressed his lips against yours. You immediately melted into the kiss. After crushing on Tony for so long, you never imagined this moment would happen. Yet here you were, your lips moving in perfect sync with his. Your body caving into his out of pure desperation for him.
He pulled away from the kiss, a bright smile on his face. You don’t think you could remember a time he had looked this happy. You opened your mouth to say something, only for a loud yawn to escape. You eyes widened with embarrassment. You had definitely just ruined the moment.
“Am I that bad of a kisser?” Tony laughed, making you hide your face in your hands. “You should get some sleep. I’ll walk you to your room.”
The walk to your room was quiet and much faster than you would’ve liked. You wanted to stay in this moment with Tony for as long as you could.
“Good night.” Tony whispered, pressing his lips to your forehead. He turned to walk away and before you could think, you stopped him.
“Wait,” You grabbed Tony’s hand, making him turn back to face you. “Stay?”
“If you insist.” Tony smirked, following you into your room.
The both of you were able to find sleep easier than you thought possible. There was a feeling of safety and comfort of being in each others arms that lulled both of you to sleep.
Hey everyone, this is my first proper attempt at writing a fanfic so it may not be great but I gave it my best shot! It is a fic about the inner circle’s children and I may continue it so please leave a comment if you like it! So, here we go! Enjoy!
Layla, daughter of the High Lord and Lady of the Night Court looked in the vanity mirror positioned on the wall of her bedroom as she finished applying the dark smoky kohl to her eyes. Tonight, a large dinner was being held for all her family including: the whole inner circle, her twin, Aidan and her two best friends in the entire continent called Briana (daughter to Nesta and Cassian) and Rhydian. Rhydian.
On a trip to an Illyrian camp when the twins were six, they had met Rhydian sparring with another boy and had both instantly fell in love with him. The Gods knew that the four of them were inseparable. Layla found it heart wrenchingly difficult to ever leave Rhydian’s side whenever they returned back to Velaris. It was as if an invisible thread tied their hearts together and it strained any time they were too far apart. Like she said, they were best friends and always had each other’s backs. However many times her family taunted and teased her, especially her two uncles, she would remind them they were nothing more. Even though, they were still protective of her and made it a habit to wear all seven siphons when Rhydian visited.
Doing a final check, Layla stood and admired herself in the mirror. Her pretty face was shadowed by the jet black wavy hair that fell to her waist and her kohl highlighted the deep blue colour of her eyes which glistened with starlight. Layla had to admit her outfit was one of her finest yet. The dark shade of blue perfectly matched her eyes with hints of silver glitter that drapped all the way to the floor like a moon lit sky. It covered that one part of her shoulder… no she wouldn’t think about that. Pleased with her look, Layla winnowed downstairs to enjoy the party.
Not surprisingly, Aidan was already leaning against the doorway dressed in an elegant black suit twin to her own gown. “Ah, here is my wonderful twin as beautiful as ever,” announced Aidan when he noticed Layla eneter. He marched over and pulled her into a tight hug. Layla didn’t know what she would do without her twin; they told each other everything. Secrets their parents didn’t know.
"Not too bad yourself!“ Layla laughed as they pulled away, linking their pinkie fingers as they both summoned their magic around their hands. Aidan’s darkness swirling and mixing with Layla’s bright stars. While Aidan had inherited his father’s wings and darkness, Layla was gifted with daemati skills and her mother’s lightness. Aidan was going to reply when-
“If it isn’t my starlight finally gracing us with her presence.” Rhys walked towards the pair with his hands tucked in his pockets before he hugged Layla. “The rest of the family are already here waiting for the two of you to arrive.” Layla looked over at Aidan with narrowed brows. Aidan noticing her confused expression said gently, “I was waiting for you.” Of course. They were inseparable and hardly went anywhere without the other but after what happened last year… her family were even more protective of where she went and wh she went with.
“Is Rhydian here yet?” Layla innocently asked.
“Not yet- but I’m sure he will be here soon. Come on, lets go through before Mor and Cassian start complaining they’re hungry.” The three night incarnates swaggered into the dining room where they met their family gathered around the table. As soon as they walked in, conversations stopped as everyone stared in awe at Layla. “Oh Layla!” Briana, her 17 year old cousin squealed, “Where did you get that dress? It’s stunning!” Briana’s rich golden brown hair swayed as she walked over, in a similarly night court fashioned chiffon purple dress, to admire Layla’s outift. Just as she was about to reply, the doorbell rang.
Cassian looked over at Rhys and they shared a mischevious grin. “This should be good!”
So here we go! Please please please leave a comment! I would love to hear what you thought to my first ACOTAR fanfiction.
I found this image to inspire this fic and I couldn’t start my day until I finished it. I also love Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, don’t you? Tagging @today-in-fic and @fictober . Set season six before ‘How the Ghosts Stole Christmas.’ Ever wonder why Mulder stole Scully’s keys in that episode?
Happy Halloween :)
Mulder shivered in the car of their rental as Scully passed him a fresh cup of hot coffee in a thin paper cup. He forgot how cold New England Halloween’s could be, even beneath his jeans, long sleeve shirt, and heavy leather jacket.
“Turn up the heat, Mulder,” she murmured. “It is freezing in here.”
Mulder adjusted the temperatures on the heat as Scully sighed and leaned back in the seat. She closed her eyes, shivering trying to imagine herself physically fighting off the fall cold before she opened her eyes and took in the scene before her. Near to full moon that lit up the sky and stars everywhere. The abandoned dirt road which their car sat on was surrounded by eerie moonlight and fog. Essentially, it was the makings of a horror movie, Scully thought.
“Why did I agree to do this?” she questioned after a moment before turning to look at him.
“What?” he asked innocently. He attempted to bury himself in his coat. “Graveyard hunting?”
Everyone writes about how the sun and moon are star-crossed lovers but I can't help and think that the moon loves the sun, depends on the sun for her light but the sun… the sun is doing fine on his own.
