The oldest depiction of the universe

This is one of the most important archaeological finds of the 20th Century and the oldest depiction of the universe so far. Called the Nebra sky disc, named for the town where it was found in 1999, the artifact has been dated back to 1600 BC. It was buried about 3,600 years ago but could be much older. It has been associated with the European Bronze Age Unetice culture.

When it was first crafted, it would have been golden brown because the disc itself is made from bronze. Over time, the it corroded to green. Fortunately, the symbols are made of gold and thanks to them we know it was possibly an astronomical instrument.
There’s Sun, a central to northern European Bronze Age religion and the crescent moon (in ancient times, the moon was used to represent time). The clump between the sun and moon are thought to be the Pleiades constellation, which was an imporant constellation for Bronze Age farmers because it appeared and disappeared in important farming times. So the Nebra disc could have told people the right time to plant and harvest.

What’s more, astronomer Wolfhard Schlosser, at the University of Hamburg, found that if you draw a line from the center of the disc to the top and bottom end of the right arc, the angle between the two ends measures exactly 82 degrees. And it’s the same value for the left golden arc. This number is very important for only a small group of people who live at the same latitude as the current German town of Nebra since it’s the angle between where the sun sets on the horizon in mid-winter and mid-summer.

The bronze disc combines an extraordinary comprehension of astronomical phenomena enabling to peak into the early knowledge of the heavens. It’s   shocking it was almost lost to the black market.

And so I am also forced to participate in the same challenge I gave my friend @rierru: the bishonen challenge, as she named it XD I’m supposed to draw one of my favorite guy characters for each day of June. But since I started late, I’ll have a lot to catch up D: This is Cliff from Harvest Moon! He’s my first favorite guy and the first bachelor that I ever pursued in a game when otome games aren’t a thing yet XD I always remember him as that aloof, shy guy you always find inside the church. Perhaps my bias towards the silent types started from him. Who else picked him in their games??? He’s such a sweetheart! Drawing him makes me miss playing this game D:

——-EDIT——-

I FORGOT TO ADD THE BONUS SKETCHES:

A scene I drew form this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL_WRco1jVg. The clinic controversy where Cliff got kicked out of the hospital bed to make room for the fainted MC! It was so funny so here’s the next doodles I made in regards to what happened next:

*dun dun dun* that’s a dark twist on the Doctor and Elli’s personalities XD could be developed into an au where the doctor just tries to eliminate the other bachelors in order to secure Claire’s feelings for him hahaha. But seriously though, I feel so bad for Cliff! D:

REWATCHING THIS SCENE FROM MOON FARM

AND I JUST REALIZED WHY THE BOYS ARE SO UPSET LIKE AT FIRST I WAS LIKE WELL CANDACE’S DINNER GOT MESSED UP AND THEY’RE SAD FOR HER

BUT THEN I REALIZED

THEY’RE UPSET BECAUSE THEY THINK IT’S THEIR FAULT THEY GAVE HER THE RECIPE AND IT DIDN’T WORK THEY DON’T KNOW THAT DOOF MESSED IT UP OR THAT IT TURNED OUT GREAT BEFORE

THAT’S WHY THEY ARE SUPER UPSET AND ALL SLINK OFF ALL SAD WITH THE MEAL NOT JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE SAD FOR CANDACE

BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO HELP CANDACE AND THEY THINK THEY MESSED IT UP

I’M SO SLOW OMG

THEY ARE THE SWEETEST MOST INNOCENT BABIES EVER AND I JUST LOVE HOW BIG THEIR HEARTS ARE NO BABIES IT WASN’T YOUR FAULT DON’T BE SAD

guys.

GUYS.

I was browsing recently added on Netflix today and LOOK:

Movies info: “When her family goes bankrupt, privileged city girl Jen Stone travels to the country to try and help a struggling pumpkin farm that her father bought as an investment to get her money back. Not everyone is on board with her changes, least of all Brett, the farm’s handsome manager. By working with what she knows best, she just might be able to turn the farm around, while also falling in love.”

I MEAN, it seems a little your typical cliche romance movies, but ALSO city girl moves to a farm, turns it into a successful business and also finds love? And its called Harvest Moon? SEEMS A LITTLE FAMILIAR???

STATE OF THE FARM - APRIL 2017

Welcome! For those who are not familiar with our STATE OF THE FARM updates, this is where we collect together the month’s news in brief, and look ahead to the coming months as well. While these columns currently focus on the 20th anniversary of Harvest Moon, we’ll also be discussing other upcoming titles later in 2017. And, speaking of other upcoming titles…

WILD GUNS RELOADED SADDLES UP FOR A PC LAUNCH
Our four gunslingers are heading to the Wild West once again!  We’re excited to be working with Natsume Atari to bring Wild Guns Reloaded to PC via Steam.  It’ll have all the same bullet-frantic action as the PS4 title, including the two new characters Bullet and Doris, local multiplayer, and leaderboards.  Wild Guns Reloaded on PC will also be available for hands-on play during E3 2017, taking place June 13th through 15th in Los Angeles, California.

INTRODUCING HARVEST MOON: LIL’ FARMERS
Our partners at Rising Star Games announced earlier this month a brand new interactive Harvest Moon digital activity playset coming to iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire in May! Lil’ Farmers is designed for newcomers to the series, whether they’re young or young at heart, by eliminating the reading barrier from typical games.  With no text, the focus is on interactivity, making it a great starting point for children to learn about the Harvest Moon universe. Watch for more details in the coming month! Harvest Moon: Lil’ Farmers will also be available for hands-on play during E3 2017.

E3 IS FAST APPROACHING
Speaking of E3, we’re counting down the days before E3 begins in mid-June. This is always an exciting time of year for us, as this is when we have our major announcements for the year leading up to and during the show. Keep watching our Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram for exciting new game reveals and more as the show approaches.

What else is coming?
We’ve still got a few Harvest Moon 20th anniversary surprises on the way, as well as some other surprises…but that will have to wait for May’s State of the Farm column! Thanks for being awesome Natsume fans as always!
