monument 1

You guys need to understand why this is actually so monumental for EXO – this #1 is COMPLETELY different from the other times [REMINDER!] MELON CHANGED THEIR CHART to make it difficult for idols! Like sure album sales are amazing, but so many people like to pretend that EXO has no public presence or that it’s only because of “crazy fangirls streaming at midnight” that their songs would get#1. This is why when Melon had their chart reform and changed the timing to the noon/evening, everyone was quick to say “RIP EXO” “Guess they won’t be getting number one songs since no one Korea knows them”

Because to do well during this time you NEED to have BOTH an ENORMOUS fandom AND a huge public presence, which is nearly impossible. NO group has managed to get a #1 after the chart reform because it is just THAT difficult. Only GDragon and IU who are known as “DIGITAL MONSTERS” were able to debut #1, not even Twice or Red Velvet although they performed well. This reform was MADE to STOP idols from taking over the chart and represent the public taste

But would you look at that

What? What was that you said? EXO are “digital flops?” “No one in the public knows them?” “It’s only crazy fangirls?” “EXO are declining?”

Sorry couldn’t hear you over the sound of complete, and utter digital slayage

Ridiculously adorable art commissioned from @ai-wa!  A belated birthday gift for @orfcus. (Placing in the main tags to share but please don’t remove the credit.)

“We are our Mountains” (Armenian: Մենք ենք, մեր լեռները, Menk’ enk’ mer lernerə) is a large monument north of Stepanakert,[1] the capital city of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The sculpture, completed in 1967 by Sargis Baghdasaryan, is widely regarded as a symbol of the Armenian heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh. The monument is made from volcanic tufa, and depicts a man and woman hewn from rock, representing the mountain people of Karabakh. It is also known as “tatik-papik” (տատիկ-պապիկ) in Armenian, and it is translated as “Grandma and Grandpa”. The sculpture is prominent in Nagorno-Karabakh’s coat of arms.

Arrow/Flash/Legends/Supergirl Master List for Binging

Want to get into the flarrowverse? Don’t know where to start? Fret no more, my friend. I’ve formulated this DCTV master-list of which episodes to start with, and where to go when more shows get involved. It’s up to date as of 2/16/17. I highly recommend watching them in the order that they came out, as that way you can experience little tidbits and crossovers for the way they were intended to be consumed. Happy Binging!

Babbius Monument

Corinth, Greece

1st century CE

The Babbius Monument is a circular monopteros on a podium dating to the early 1st century A.D. It consisted of eight Corinthian columns arranged in a circle supporting an epistyle and a conical roof. It was erected on a high concrete podium originally clad with marble revetment. The epistyle bears an inscription in Latin which reads “Cnaeus Babbius Philinus, aedile, pontifex, undertook the construction at his own expense, and the same, as duovir, approved it.” Babbius Philinus was a rich freedman of Greek descent who served as a local official in the region. The same individual also built the Fountain of Poseidon. The fountain was replaced by Temple J, perhaps also dedicated to Poseidon, during the reign of Commodus.

Heyo, sorry for the trouble, but do you have any links pointing to BLM being an actual terrorist organization? (Not disagreeing with you, just can't find them anywhere, even after looking through your tags, and I'm pretty certain I've seen you post some before.) I've been meaning to read through some, since I've only been fed one side of the story so far by most people.

the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.“the fight against terrorism”

Rosi’s Ideal Arctic Monkeys Setlist

Shoutout to @monsieurlennon @jossmayfair @arcticmonkeyys @train-inthedistance and @esparafuso for tagging me in this painful and brain breaking exercise.

What would your current perfect Arctic Monkeys set list be?
Rules: TLSP and Submarine Soundtrack are off the table but all the AM b-sides are obviously fair game. OKAY let’s do this: Cap 20 songs including the encore (and in order!!)

(First off. PICKING ONLY 20 SONGS IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. IT’S LIKE WHEN SOMEONE ASKS ME WHAT MY FAVE AM RECORD IS. Spoiler alert, they’re all my faves. This is like asking a parent to choose a favourite child. Anyway, moving on to this monumental task.)

1- Do I Wanna Know? (I have an intense feeling of nostalgia for the dramatic instrumental intro from the AM era. I swear that intro could raise me from the dead.)

2- I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor (Bonus points if Alex yells out “Señoritas” before starting the song.)

3- The View From The Afternoon (Matt would ABSOLUTELY KILL IT ON THE DRUMS. Bang bang Mr. Drummer Man. Y’all are welcome for that visual.)

4- Fluorescent Adolescent (Cue nostalgia because “The best you’ve ever had is just a memory”. Just punch me in the gut. It would hurt less.)

5- Do Me A Favour (Nostalgia Intensifies.)

6- Cornerstone (I’d like for the audience to pull out cell phones and lighters and wave them in the air dramatically as they belt out this particular tune.)

7- My Propeller (Get everyone going again. Ladies and gentlemen, start your propellers.)

8- Crying Lightning (The guitars in this give me life.)

9- Brianstorm (Mat killing it on the drums once again.)

10 - She’s Thunderstorms (Another guitar-giving-me-life song. Also notice the weather theme.)

11- Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair (The intro to this song also gives me life. Also Alex’s hip movements during this. Only real 90’s kids remember. Reblog if you’re a true 90’s kid.)

12- Library Pictures (#1: The instruments in this song. LIFE GIVING. #2: MOSH PIT.)

13- Fireside (Cue visual of potatoes in a pot, the water reaching a rolling boil. You stare at the bubbling water and feel nostalgia for some nameless lover. Second hand yearning.)

14- Only Ones Who Know (From 0 to 100 real quick. Yearning intensifies.)

15- I Wanna Be Yours (Cell phones and lighters in the air. Sway to the beat. Feel the music cleanse your soul.)

16- Arabella (Allow Alex’s hip movements and stripper moves to kill you slowly and revive you all at once.)

17- You’re So Dark (EVERYONE IN THE AUDIENCE DIES OF SEXUAL FRUSTRATION.)

ENCORE:

18- R U Mine? (The formerly deceased audience returns from the afterlife after hearing the first notes of this song.)

19- Little Illusion Machine (Alex announces a surprise guest. You cannot believe your eyes as Miles Fucking Kane walks onto the stage. THE AUDIENCE FUCKING RIOTS. ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE IN THE MOST AWESOME WAY.)

20- 505 (Alex and Miles perform this pressed against one another as they share a microphone a la TLSP. Tears of joy wash over the faces of everyone in attendance.)

1)  Monument to Iceland´s first modern-day Heathen Chief Priest Sveinbjörn Beinteinsson.  It is at the Reykjavik construction site of the Nordic nation’s first main Hof or Heathen Temple to be built since official Christianization, by Act of the Althing, or Parliament, in about 1000 a.d. The photo is a detail of a picture published by mbl.is yesterday, 15 July 2017.

2) Photo of Sveinbjörn who was the Chief Priest, or Allsherjargodi, of the Heathen Fellowship, Ásatrúarfélag, which he lead from 1972 until his death in 1993.  In 1973 he was instrumental in getting government recognition for the Fellowship.

3) A statue of Thor, pagan Iceland’s most popular Heathen God. The statue is located not far from where Sveinbjörn used to live and was created by Haukur Halldórsson, also a member of Ásatrúarfélagið.

4) Artistic impression of the new Hof now expected to be completed sometime next year, 2018. This is by another Ásatrúarfélag member: the Temple´s architect Magnús Jensson.

Conservatives and fascists have, so far this week:

1. compared monuments in the honor of Confederate figures to monuments for the victims of the Holocaust
2. compared monuments built to honor those who fought for slavery to ancient and old buildings built by slaves
3. suggested that removing 20th century monuments in the honor of those who defended slavery will somehow entirely erase the history of slavery in the United States from history books and the memory of people
4. ridiculed the idea that if we want to destroy monuments to those who defended slavery, we should by extension destroy monuments that glorify other slave owners and genocide perpetrators that lived before the 19th century
5. (and this is the most important) defensively recoiled at any criticism over fascism and nazism because communism isn’t being criticized as well (as if the criticize fascism in their anti-communist circlejerks)

Are we seriously supposed to take conservatism as a logical and rational (nevermind moral) movement as opposed to mere reckless contrarians? Each and every argument reeks of stupidity and lack of self-awareness. The fact that yesterday I had to see someone not just defend the Confederacy but going as far as to suggesting that slavery in North America wasn’t “that bad” should easily establish where this people stand morally, and how they are an accessory to white supremacists.
