-An adult version of the baby from the first Ice Age movie to reunite with the rest of the herd.
-“A Bugs Life II,” with Dot growing up and learning the duties of a princess in Atta’s place.
-The Iron Giant II: He sacrificed himself at the end of the movie and his parts went ALL over the place…but he DIDN’T die. I always expected a movie where his parts finally came back together and he reunited with Hogarth.
-The chipmunks singing “Boys and Girls of Rock and Roll” in one of their live action movies
-For Jack to be reunited with an older version of the baby he took care of in the first series (Samurai Jack)
-A modern crossover between the newer Sesame Street characters and the newer Muppet characters, just like the specials in the old days
-There to be consistency in the fact that in the first Monster’s Inc. movie, Mike told Sully, “You’ve been jealous of my looks since 3rd grade,” rather for them to make a completely new plot where the first time they met was in college.
You have spent six years with whom you know to be the love of your life, Chanyeol. Six years is a long time to be with someone, and that wasn’t even including the time you spent as children planning fake weddings, fake families, and pretend castles and fairy tales. If it weren’t for the job and responsibility Chanyeol had to his label, you two would have been married in October of last year. But, of course, the managers and members of his successful music group dismissed the idea without even considering your feelings. Every night, Chanyeol would cradle you in his arms and tell you about the wedding that he is picturing after the stardom he was experiencing. It was almost perfect, except for the fact that the scenario he was dreaming of was just like the delusions you two created as a kid, in the sense that it would never happen. His group was far too popular and he was far too busy to give you the wedding day that he thought you deserved. It was too unrealistic and you accepted it.
The night that the dreams you had as a couple made their way into sight was like heaven. It was a date night, well, besides the fact that it was a “date night in” as he called it. There was a wonderful meal of pizza- he planned to make your favorite “classy” meal, but almost burned your apartment building down in the process. There were daises scattered throughout the floor leading to four locations: the kitchen, the couch, the bathroom, and the bedroom. He chose daises because, as he said, “roses are boring.” You two spent hours watching movies, only for him to drag you to the bathroom filled with lit candles, bubbles, and calm music. The two of you just sat in the steamy, water-filled tub and talked. Afterwards, well, you know, you ‘did the do’.
The next day, you woke up and remembered what happened that night and left for the pharmacy to pick up a pregnancy test. Obviously, you were not expecting to be pregnant, no one ever is, but when you looked at the device and saw two lines, you broke down.
“He can’t handle this. They can’t handle this. How are we supposed to have children when his company won’t even let us get married? How am I supposed to tell him that his career is over? How am I going to have to raise this child, fully knowing that we are the cause of his father’s dream to be crushed? I can’t go through with this, please, don’t make me. I can’t tell him, it isn’t his fau-” Your thoughts were interrupted by an opening of the bathroom door. It was him. You looked up at him with tear filled eyes, but all he saw was the test in your hand.
“Y/N,” he said with tears in his eyes.
“I’m so sorry, Chanyeol. I should have used the pill.” You were on the brink of a meltdown. The next moment, you were wrapped in the lanky arms of your best friend. “How are we going to do this? I can get rid of it if you want.” Tears wouldn’t stop coming through your eyes.
“Y/N, don’t say that. We have always wanted a child, it just came early, there is nothing wrong with this or you.” How could he be sure? You were going to trust him on this, he always seemed to be right. “We need to prepare.”
No matter how much you wanted it to be, it wasn’t over. The company decided that until you had the child, Chanyeol was to go about his normal business. From then on, you were told to stay away from him in public, you got looks from the other members (mostly Sehun though), and you were left at home to do the preparing that you needed to do to bring a child into the home. Your days were spent with worry, movement, and the constant feeling of loneliness. Chanyeol didn’t get home until you were asleep and left in the night. Your nightstand drawer was full of goodbye notes you had collected that he left as an apology for not being able to wake up next to you.
The one day he was able to stay in was the day you had to decorate the nursery. You were the type to procrastinate, but since your days were filled with nothing but free time, you had gotten enough time to plan ahead. You decided that since this may be the only time you have left to do this with him, you two should go ahead and do it at 6 weeks to get ahead of the game. It was so amazing to see his smile when all you wanted to do was cry. It was so fun to watch him make a mess with paint. It made you get butterflies in your stomach when you caught him staring at you with those big, beautiful eyes. Or at least, you thought they were butterflies. You took a bathroom break and when you looked down into the water of the toilet, there was a pool of blood. At that moment, you knew the potential life was gone.
There are lots of things no one tells you about miscarriages, but one of them is that they may last and last — just as having a baby takes hours and sometimes days, losing a baby does, too. Despite this, you kept quiet about it and finished your bathroom break. When you walked back into the room- to you it wasn’t a nursery anymore- you saw Chanyeol turn around and smile before his face went blank. He knew something was wrong. You broke down.
“It’s gone,” you whimpered out.
“What do you mean?” You saw the fear and worry in his eyes.
“Chan, I miscarried. I’m so sorry, I am so sorry,” the light in his eyes left, but not without taking a couple tears with it.
“We need to go to the doctor.” Those words hit you like a truck. You didn’t need a doctor. You knew the child was gone. There was no point.
After a long time at the doctor’s office, it became clear you were right. You arrived home and it didn’t feel the same. That thought was the straw that broke the camel’s back. You broke down.
“I’m so sorry, I did this to you. I gave you this life we were supposed to make. I made go through days of me leaving you without saying goodbye. I was off at parties and concerts while you were breaking down. I caused you so much stress. I knew it was bad for the baby, but I- I couldn’t do anything,” his voice seemed to be following his breaking heart and yours was breaking as well. “I left you, Y/N. It is all my fault.”
“CHANYEOL. DON’T YOU DARE SAY THAT” You snapped and immediately regretted it. You quieted down immensely “It isn’t your fault. I took so much away from you and all you did was let me. Neither of us could have seen this coming. It wasn’t your fault. You can’t ever blame yourself for something you didn’t do. I can;t say either of us are okay, but we can be. Besides, it’s probably best that it didn’t happen now. It is not your fault.”
The rest of the night was spent on the couch. The next day, Chanyeol left for a tour. You decided to go to the concert to make sure he was okay on stage after this whole debacle. The venue went dark and you saw a single spotlight on your partner. A security guard rushed you backstage and you were met with the other members of his group. They led you on stage and you heard his voice.
“Y/n, I know the last couple weeks have not been kind to us. I know that this career I chose neglects you. I know that you deserve better. But, I also know that you are so strong. It isn’t your fault that it happened. What happened happened and we can’t change that, it was’t your fault. I had a dream. It wasn’t clear to me what it was, but when I saw you again after all of those years apart, I found it. You are my dream. All of those nights, I spent telling you my plans for the future, that was my dream. It wasn’t this. Any of it. Your dreams have been crushed by me and by chance. Let’s make a new one.” You saw him get down on one knee and pull out a box. You dropped to the ground in tears as Xiumin and Sehun unrolled a banner.
So holy hell do I have the book haul of the year! I just finished the Shatter Me trilogy and my God did I love it! Finally got Lola and the Boy Next Door after reading the first book ages ago as well as Crown of Midnight. I got an early copy of Eliza and her Monsters which I am super excited to read! I finally got my hands on acotar coloring book and it’s so lovely! I’ll probably post a picture of the first one I color :) I also got Stalking Jack the Ripper and Air Awakens because they sounded amazing on goodreads! The Star-Crossed Queen, Passenger, The Wrath and the Dawn, and The Shadow Bright and Burning all sounded really good! I also got Under Rose-Tainted Skies but I forgot to put it in the picture which is a shame because the cover is beautiful!
I did not buy all these at the same time so don’t go thinking I got loads of book spending money!
“Numbuh 20HP! Where have you been?!” Numbuh 362 chastised loudly. The operative in question had just been sent up to Moonbase five minutes ago, after refusing to explain themselves over their communicator. Numbuh 362 was all but ready to decommission the operative for all the trouble they put the KND through.
“I’m sorry ma'am.” The child mumbled guiltily. “But I couldn’t use my communicator down there. It didn’t work.”
362 massaged her temples. “If that was all that happened down there you could’ve explained it over your communicator, Numbuh 20HP. What’s so important that you had to come all the way up here?”
The operative kicked the ground sheepishly. Turning around to the item they had brought with them, a large mass of something obscured by a wad of cloth, they muttered, “Well, something big happened underground, and I think it affects the whole organization, Numbuh 362 ma'am.”
Before any questions could be asked, Numbuh 20HP poked the blanketed bundle with their foot. It started to move, but it didn’t seem to be accomplishing anything. The operative realized something after a few seconds, giggling to themselves. They immediately busied themselves with undoing the tied up mass, allowing whatever was inside some room to breath.
“Phew! Thanks, dude! It was starting to get stuffy in there.” Came the voice from inside the bundle.
The others in the room gasped in surprise. The only one there aside from Numbuhs 362 and 20HP was Numbuh 86. 86 had been there on official Global Tactics Officer business, and hadn’t left yet because she wasn’t told to. She was curious about Numbuh 20HP, as well.
Suddenly, a head poked out of the bundle, startling the two even more. It looked like a yellow-orange dinosaur, except with a rounded buck-tooth being the sole tooth in its mouth. It had a ridge of yellow spines going down its back. It blinked at the pair of kids before it. “Yo, Frisk, who’re they?” The creature asked curiously.
Frisk smiled. “That’s my Soopreme Leader, Numbuh 362. And the other one is Numbuh 86, the Global Tactics Officer. They’re both my superiors.”
The creature blinked. “Sounds neat, dude. Nice to meet ya, Numbuh 362 and Numbuh 86.”
The Soopreme Leader had a very startled look on her face, very much not computing what was going on. Numbuh 20HP chuckled in embarrassment. “Uh, oops. I guess I need to introduce him, huh?”
Numbuh 362 managed to nod.
“Numbuh 362 ma'am, this is my friend, Monster Kid. I usually just call him Kid though. Or MK. I met him when I was stuck in the mountain.”
Numbuh 86 growled. “Ah don’t think tha's a good enough reason t'bring him up here out of nowhere, is it?!”
Numbuh 362 gave her a stern look. “Stand down, Numbuh 86. Numbuh 20HP is not our enemy.”
“Have some explaining to do, sure. But we haven’t given them a chance to do so yet. Numbuh 20HP? I would very much appreciate if you explained exactly what happened to you down in that mountain.”
Frisk sighed. “Where should I start, ma'am?”
“At the beginning would be nice.”
The operative took a deep breath, calming their nerves. “Well, it started when my mission to observe Mount Ebott was interrupted by those pesky adults that keep following me…”
“…and a bit after that, you guys contacted me.” Frisk finished. MK had curled up to take a nap after a certain point during the story, and Frisk didn’t mind. The other two listened in rapt attention throughout the story, though they were a bit disbelieving at parts. Frisk chose not to reveal their ability to Reset and Save whilst in the underground, as it would just make things more confusing. They simply recounted their True Pacifist run as if it had been their first and only run.
“So…these monster adults are different from the villains we usually face, right?” Numbuh 362 questioned. Frisk nodded. “They’re not even similar! They aren’t evil at all! Not even the monsters that tried to kill me were evil. They all just wanted freedom. Now that they have it, they want nothing more than to live up here in peace.”
“Yeah, tha’s great and all, but ye still haven’t told us why ye brought someone up t'the Moonbase without permission.” Numbuh 86 reminded. MK lifted his head up, waking up from his nap. “Huh? What’s happening?” He mumbled sleepily.
Frisk sighed. “Well, I was kinda thinking he could be an operative.” They explained.
The monster made a sound of confusion. “Huh? Yo, dude. What’s that mean? What am I operating?”
“Ye what?! Ye can’t just randomly decide someone’s gonna be an operative without permission first! Tha’s not yer decision t'make!” Numbuh 86 objected loudly. Monster Kid approached the trio slowly, still looking confused.
“Numbuh 20HP, is there a specific reason for this? Surely this isn’t just because you’re friends, right?” Numbuh 362 inquired, ignoring Numbuh 86’s outburst.
Frisk frowned, but grinned again as they spoke. “Well, part of it is because we’re friends. Mostly, though, I think having monsters in the KND is a smart decision. Monsters are pretty tough, and because none of them hate kids like human adults do, the adults won’t have a way to counter monster operatives! All the monsters want is to be accepted, and this is a good first step to get them on our side. Otherwise they’ll just be neutral.”
Numbuh 20HP laughed nervously. “That, and I really need to get myself a proper Sector. I’m sick of doing missions alone and infrequently. And my Sector could have other monster operatives too, once we get more. It’s a great situation all around.”
Numbuh 362 pondered the operative’s suggestion. It seemed like the plan was a fairly decent one, and having something the adults didn’t know how to fight would be a great tactical advantage.
“Monster Kid. Can you use magic, like Numbuh 20HP claims monsters can?” The Soopreme Leader asked.
MK closed his eyes in concentration, and white energy flared up around him. The spines on his back looked like they were on fire, and a pair of stubby arms materialized. The arms wiggled as he opened his eyes again. “Yep, I can use magic! Not too good at it yet, but I’m getting better. Right now, I can only get it to show up if it’s sticking to me.” He explained.
Numbuh 362 nodded approvingly. “This is a promising thing you’ve suggested, Numbuh 20HP. Consider-”
Frisk jumped at the sound of their phone ringing. They gave it a confused stare before answering it.
“…” The voices on the other side were muffled, but Frisk nodded and gave short responses to whatever they were saying. Eventually, they hung up. The operative gave their superiors a sad look. “It’s time for me to go back, unfortunately. Everyone’s setting up in an abandoned town at the base of the mountain, and I need to be there.”
Monster Kid pouted. “Aw, this place was just starting to get cool.” His magic faded away, causing him to stand up a bit straighter. “Well, my parents are probably worrying about me by now anyway. Yo, how do we get back again?”
“I’ll arrange for a transport to the base of Mount Ebott.” Numbuh 362 declared. She extended a hand towards Numbuh 20HP. Frisk shook it, though they were slightly confused. Their confusion was remedied when the Soopreme Leader announced, “I look forward to working with you, Ambassador Frisk.”
Round two of my style experimentation. This time I drew my friend as if she was in 10 of her favorite TV cartoons in 10 of her favorite TV show styles. This time around, doing research for my friend really showed that these shows don’t have many (or any) girls with curly hair or glasses. I was happy to remedy that problem here.
I like episodes that give you some insight of the characters like this. You get hints of what each character wishes they were like (Numbuh 2 wants to be a comic book hero, Numbuh 4 dreams to to be Sangoku, etc.) and how they perceive others.
Or in that case, how they perceive the DCFDTL.
In Numbuh 1′s story, we don’t actually see them, just hear their voice (also the subtitles I have calls them “evil 5” at this point, and Numbuh 2 calls them just that later). Maybe the crew weren’t sure how to render them in the 3d world?
Numbuh 2 sees them like this :
Numbuh 3 draws them this way :
In Numbuh 4′s mind they are more like this :
Numbuh 5 perceives them more like this :
So yeah, looks like the majority of Sector V think of them as some kind of five-headed monster.
