Hello again!

It’s the mod formerly known as Ellie! Gee it’s been a while hasn’t it? On behalf of all the Mods here at Motivationstuck, I’d like to thank you all for your patience over these last few months. They’ve been hard on all of us,myself included, and we’re so excited to finally announce out comeback! We’ve been working hard on answering leftover asks and filling the queue to the best of our ability.

This blog was not an ask blog originally, but rather more of an edit factory cranking out png’s of our favorite, most beloved Homestuck characters saying motivational things. While we still plan on answering asks in character, we plan on returning to our roots a little bit as well, so keep an eye out for different kinds of content beyond in-character asks!

Please be patient with us as we get back into the swing of things. Our Active Mod Count went from almost fifteen to about five, all with varying schedules, time zones, and energy levels. We’re still human, so please keep that in mind when waiting on responses to asks. We’re very excited to get back to helping as much as we can!

Once again, thank you all so much for your patience. Keep an eye out for more updates in the coming weeks, we have a lot planned! If you have any questions, concerns, or you just want to say hi, we kindly ask that you direct them to the Brand-Spanking-New Motivationstuck email, in order to keep the inbox clear of clutter so we can do our jobs the best we can!

Ever yours,

Admins Kiersten and Poodle, and Mods Alaska, Beck, Grace, Freeverse, and Dylan

Character Bootcamp 2016!

We here at simplyoriginalcharacters are excited to announce our second annual Character Bootcamp! Last July, we embarked on a month-long journey of character creation and development with our followers, providing all-new original content, games, and more to help them hone their character-building skills. We learned a lot from that experience (namely, not to run it at the same time as Camp NaNoWriMo), so this year we’ve decided to move it up to June and we’ve developed a schedule of events to help keep everyone on the same page!

So what can you expect from this year’s Character Bootcamp?

  • Daily character-building questions, designed for use as rebloggable writing prompts.
  • Daily promoted posts from other writing blogs with different perspectives on character creation.
  • Weekly games, every Tuesday from 12 pm PST to 4 pm PST and every Saturday from 4 pm PST to 7 pm PST.
  • Weekly modchat sessions on both Tuesdays and Saturdays while the games are running.
  • Plus polls, extra character prompts, and more!

Of course, we’ll be continuing to provide you with critiques and advice while this is going on, and the original content posts on Thursdays should continue as usual, too. This isn’t replacing the blog’s usual functions, it’s just some fun bonus content that lets us interact more with our followers!

How do you participate in Character Bootcamp? Simple! All you have to do is reblog the prompts, join us in the modchat, or participate in the games! You can participate as much or as little as you like, and if you have a question or a concern, we’re absolutely here to help you out. At the end of the month, we’ll be asking for feedback from our followers to see how we can improve Character Bootcamp for next year, so please be sure to let us know what you liked and didn’t like and how we can make this more useful for you!

Character Bootcamp begins next Wednesday, June 1st, and will continue until Thursday, June 30th. Like last year, we will be using the tag #SOC Bootcamp to track posts for this event. We’re looking forward to it, and we hope you are too!
