Mike Modano, pictured here as a member of the Dallas Stars on the night of November 7 2007 when he became the NHL’s top American scorer, announced his retirement on Wednesday. Modano turned to social media and posted the news on his Facebook and Twitter accounts and also announced he will be holding a press conference Friday. (Photo by Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images)

Fare thee well Mikey Mo. At least you didn’t try another year with Detroit or something

SWEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  goodbye coyotes.

oh what a night of playoff hockey.  MY BELOVED RED WINGS HAVE SWEPT THE COYOTES!!!  and i can’t believe the rangers gave up there 3-0 lead over the capitals in one period and then lose in double OT.

And as much as I love that we beat the Coyotes, I wish them the best of luck in the future, whether the team remain in Pheonix or moved back to Winnepeg.  I realize the outcome of this series may have just sealed the fate of the team and it’s players and fans.  I can’t imagine what they’re going through right now.  I’m a Detroit girl and know hockey will always be a part of my life and the city I live in.  I couldn’t imagine losing that after loving a team for so long.
