Donavan Barrett|2016 Training Sampler

This is my last video of 2016!  This was by far the hardest year of my life.  Between my parents splitting, my sister going through a major surgery, being completely overworked with things that I’m not passionate about and told how I should live my life, and losing all things stable in my life, I still came out as passionate as ever to reach my goal.

Think this is impressive? It’s nothing compared to what 2017s sampler will look like.  Watch me grind. Watch me rise.

Last day ever training in my current gym. and I was shocked and stunned to recieve the award for MMA league fighter of the year off my coach John Kavangh and my MMA Coach Chris Fields. Serious honor as Chris Fields was just announced to be on the next season of The Ultimate fighter and John Kavangh is Irelands first BJJ Black Belt, first Mixed Martial Arts Competitor and the coach of Conor McGregor, Gunnar Nelson, Cathal Pendred, Chris Fields, Owen Roddy, Aisling Daly, Paddy Holohan and many more. Cant describe how much this means to me

It’ll be hard because it’s uncomfortable, cause what’s comfortable is what’s easy and what’s easy is not always what’s going to make you better. It’s easy to cop the fuck out and say ‘it is what it is’ and it’s so much harder to be uncomfortable but I promise you in doing that is what’s going to help you better your life.

shaped-by-karate and I are starting a martial artist group chat on the Kik app (free to download to those that don’t know). I am a Martial Artist. I see through different eyes. I see a bigger picture when others see grey skies. Though many can’t conceive it, I stand…facing the wind. My bravery, not from fighting, but from my strength within.
I am a Martial Artist. I’ll walk the extra mile. Not because I have to, but because it’s worth my while. I know that I am different, when I stand on a crowded street. I know the fullness of winning, I’ve tasted the cup of defeat.
I am a Martial Artist. They say I walk with ease. Though trained for bodily harm, my intentions are for peace. The world may come and go, but a different path I’ll choose. A path I will not stray from, no matter, win or lose.
