Day 19: Reverse Crush

On Ao3

“Oh my god Nino here she comes…” Adrien whispered as Marinette came up the stairs.

She was chatting with Alya and completely unaware of the blond’s presence, but he felt the butterflies collecting in his stomach anyway. It wasn’t that he was shy around Marinette, really. He actually went out of his way to make her laugh, to talk to her, to send her every hint possible that he liked her, it just never seemed to work.

He gripped Nino’s arm when the dark haired girl finally did turn to look at them. Adrien felt Nino lightly elbow him, getting him to wave at the girl. She waved back, only for her hand to be snatched by Alya, who then marched them over to where the boys stood.

The next day, Chat came through the trap door to see Marinette hunched over her desk, writing on a piece of paper that he recognized as today’s literature homework.

This was the first time that he had seen her do anything that wasn’t waiting for him, he realized, and he immediately felt guilty and grateful for the time that Marinette dedicated towards him.

“The cookies and hot chocolate are by the computer,” she said, pointing with her pencil in the general direction. Then she quickly flicked her pencil back to the paper.

Chat jumped onto the floor with a soft thud . “You’re not going to eat any?”

She shrugged. “I’ll eat after I finish this,”.

“Speaking of, what are you working on?”

“My French literature homework. I’m falling behind, I have to write fifteen pages, and the essay’s due the day after tomorrow.” She gave an apologetic smile. “Sorry, minou ; I can’t hang out today. But you’re welcome to stay if you want to.”

She’s behind because of me, he thought as guilt stabbed his stomach.

“Is there anything I can do to help?” he asked. “Maybe your school and my school’s curriculums overlap.”

She shook her head. “I’m at the writing stage now, so all I have to do is to get my thoughts written down on paper. Thanks for the offer, though.”

At that, Chat looked around for quiet things to do while Marinette was working. After finishing two more cookies, he decided to grab a pair of headphones and watch some movies.

It felt strange to him, sitting on the computer chair rather than the chaise. It was like he was missing something – someone .

But it still felt better than being alone in his room.

After the credits rolled, Chat exited the screen and turned off the computer with a sigh. He pushed the chair out, darting left and right for more things to do, when he spotted Marinette still crouched down, pencil scratching at the paper. The light from her lamp illuminated the sweat on her forehead as the sweat ran down her forehead to her cheeks and traversed diagonally down her face. It reached her tongue, which was stuck out in concentration.

Marinette sputtered in surprise as the liquid touched her tongue. Chat whipped his head back in laughter, clutching at his stomach and wheezing at the lack of air. She, in response, turned towards him with an indignant expression.

“S-sorry,” he wiped his tear. “I-I just didn’t expect your reaction. It was hilarious .”

After what seemed like an eternity of glaring, Marinette whipped her face away from him and muttered the words “stupid cat” under her breath.

It turned out that observing Marinette work was far more entertaining than all the movies he had watched combined . There was just something about it, from the way her tongue stuck out in concentration to the way her eyes darted back and forth with a slight frown on her lips to the way she tapped the end of the pencil with her lips whenever she was stuck and from the way she bit her lips in frustration to the subsequent gleam of absolute ecstasy and exuberance in her eyes that was just highly entertaining to him. He memorized every one of her expressions while he watched her work and told himself that it was only for comedic purposes.

The day after, Marinette noticed that Chat brought his homework with him to her room the next day. They worked next to each other in relative silence, save for the occasional snickers from the feline superhero. When she looked in his general direction at the odd sounds, he reenacted the facial expressions she had made. He did it in the most ridiculous way possible. She scowled every time, but this just made him laugh harder. So, with a resigned sigh, she ignored his snickers and cackles and worked until she had nothing to work with.

She braced herself internally for the hell called Chat’s teasing that would follow.

After a few days of playing board games (that weren’t Monopoly) and doing homework, the two fell into a comfortable agreement with each other. They didn’t always feel the need to do something together and left the other alone when they were busy, but nevertheless appreciated each other’s company when they could.

And today, Marinette and Chat sat side by side watching My Neighbor Totoro. Their heads and shoulders were not touching like it had been after they had gone to see the lights, but each found warmth from each other’s presence.

When Satsuki – a ten year old girl – and Mei – Satsuki’s four year old sister – first arrived in their new home, Marinette was suddenly reminded of the night that all of this had started after Satsuki almost broke a pillar and had to balance it right again using her body.

As the sounds of giggling girls permeated the room, she took the chance.

“Chat?” she asked.

“Yeah?” he said gently. He was smiling.

“You know the day when I had seen you near the bakery?”

There was a pause. “Yeah?” his smile turned neutral as he looked at her warily, evidently on guard.

“D-” she began, but paused for far too long. “Do you want to talk about it?” she breathed. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

Satsuki and Mei began running outside, giggling and laughing with hands out like an airplane.

There was silence. His eyes were glued on the screen. “No. I’d rather not.” There was sadness, there was bitterness, and there was rage .

The tension was palpable. “O-okay.”

She turned her eyes back to the movie, occasionally looking from her peripheral vision to see Chat’s face. He, thankfully, was happy throughout most of the movie, although she saw glints of sadness from time to time.

Forget me not

It’s been about a year since my last Miraculous Ladybug fanfic list. Given the fandom is three years old and season 2 is right around the corner (hopefully), I believe it’s time to relive and explore some of the best fanfics the fandom has to offer. By no means is this list comprehensive. Many fics aren’t on here. (I’m working on a list for newer fics, so stay tuned!)

The dog was a big black beast—he didn’t know the breed then, nor did he particularly care, but it whined pitifully when its equally dark-haired owner paused to read a street sign. This is not a complete list of the best fics in the fandom. Many of these authors have written multiple fanfics for this fandom and they are all amazing. Indeed, many of the fics on AO3 with the most hits, the most kudos, and the most comments were other fics not mentioned here but completed by many of these authors. Every work of fanfiction is amazing. If you want to help encourage writers to write more awesome fanfiction, please leave a comment on their works. It can be as short as “This is great!” Seriously. We live off validation.

It’s not narcissism if I add in my own fic here, right?

"Okay next question for all of you...if you had the chance would you do it with Chat Noir?"

“Okay next question for all of you… if you had the chance would you do it with Chat Noir?” Alya’s eyes scanned the circle as she tried to suppress her giggles. Adrien nearly choked on the popcorn he was eating, as he began to think that sneaking away to a boy girl sleepover at Marinette’s might not have been his best idea…

“Yup!” Nino said without hesitation. A strangled sound escaped Adrien’s throat. I so did not need to know that dude! Adrien thought to himself.

“No way! Way too much leather.” Rose stuck out her tongue in disgust. The leather is actually quite comfortable and formfitting thank you very much!

“Well if I had to pick a dude I guess I would do it with Chat Noir,” Kim said uncertainly.

“Excuse you!” Max squeaked indignantly.

“What about you Marinette? Would you do it with Chat Noir?” Alya said pointedly. Marinette rolled her eyes.

“Please, he’s not my type,” Marinette snickered.

“Not your type!?!” Adrien practically shrieked causing Marinette to nearly jump out of her skin.

“N-n-no not r-r-really,” Marinette stammered.

“What is blonde not your type?! Is heroism not your type? Nice smiles aren’t your type?!?” Adrien continued to screech.

“Sounds like someone has a crush on Chat Noir,” Alya teased

“WHY AREN’T I YOUR TYPE?!” Adrien shouted.

“WHAT?!!?” The group shouted in unison all heads swiveling to face the blonde boy. Marinette stared back at him in stunned silence. Shit!

I’m not accepting any more sentence prompts just finishing up the ones I have.

Valentine’s Day Part 2

“So, let me get this straight,” Alya said, leaning back against Marinette’s desk chair and steepling her fingers. Beside her, on a little table-cushion Marinette had made, Tikki slept soundly, having already heard the story a thousand times over. “You’re in love with Chat Noir.”

“You already knew that,” Marinette groaned from her chaise, hugging a cushion to her chest and leaning back like a Freudian patient. Lord knows she was about three sentences away from a therapy-inducing hissy fit regardless, so it was probably prudent of her to be lying down in such a way. She was preparing for her inevitable breakdown that’s all. It was the smart thing to do.

And she rarely did the smart thing nowadays it seemed, so she really needed this.

“You’ve been in love with Chat as Ladybug for like a bajillion years,” Alya continued, ignoring Marinette as she continued to rehash pointless details. Details which made Marinette want to bludgeon herself to death with her cushion.

It was most likely impossible to do such a thing but she was never one to back down from a challenge. Death by cushion- she’d find a way.

“Yes. We’ve already established that,” she replied through gritted teeth, said cushion slowly creeping up to cover her face.

“But last night you kissed him by accident,” Alya said.

“Uh-huh.”

“As Marinette.”

“That is correct sir,” Marinette wiggled a finger.

“And he gave you a rose and kissed you back.”

“Tru’ dat.”

It was indicative of Marinette’s deteriorating mental state that she’d said “Tru’ dat”. She’d never said “Tru’ dat” in her whole life.

“I see,” Alya nodded a few times. The fact her tone had remained neutral the whole time was doing nothing to help Marinette’s poor nerves, and so she swung her legs over the side of her chaise, sitting up to get a better view of Alya’s twinkling eyes. A sense of dread settled in Marinette’s stomach. Alya’s eye-twinkles were never a good thing, at least when they were directed towards her.

I see?! Is that all you have to say? Seriously?! I thought you’d be freaking out right now, I mean I’m freaking out but then I ALWAYS freak out. You not freaking out is making me freak out harder! Can you please freak out with me? Join me in the freak out zone already!” Marinette blabbed, waving her arms and promptly dropping the cushion to the ground.

Alya said nothing, instead choosing to raise an eyebrow at her and cross her legs. At least she’d stopped steepling her fingers, Marinette thought gruffly.

After a short pause, Alya finally spoke, but her voice wobbled and strained unnaturally, her lips thinned in a way that was entirely too suspicious. “Firstly, stop saying freak out, secondly I’m not freaking out because this is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.”

Ficlet request: Hogwarts!AU -- Mari tries to ask Adrien out to the Yule ball via letter, but accidentally sends him a howler.

Let’s assume Marinette comes from a non-magical background and has no idea how to tell a Howler apart from normal stationery.

~*~

“You sent it to him, right?” Alya demanded as she and Marinette swept into the Great Hall for breakfast. “Because if you chickened out again…”

“I didn’t!” Marinette cried. She put a hand over her stomach, which had been twisted into knots since the night before. She’d be lucky if she had the appetite for a single croissant.

“And did you sign it?” Alya asked. Marinette had a history of forgetting to sign things: homework assignments, letters, the card on the yellow and black scarf she’d knitted Adrien for his birthday last term…

Marinette plopped down on the bench and stared glumly at the breakfast platter. “Yes, but even if I hadn’t, I sent it to him on red stationery so he should know it’s from me.”

Alya froze. “Red stationery?”

Marinette reached for a croissant. “Yeah, why?”

ADRIEN,” a voice boomed through the Great Hall, making the both of them jump.

Marinette whipped around and gasped. Her nice red stationery hovered in front of Adrien—wide eyed, slack-jawed, and pale—and screamed at him.

I WAS WONDERING, IF YOU DON’T HAVE A DATE TO THE YULE BALL… YOU PROBABLY DO,  BUT LET’S SAY THAT THEORETICALLY YOU DON’T…

“This isn’t happening,” Marinette whispered. “Please tell me this isn’t happening.”

Alya put a hand on her shoulder. “It’s happening.”

WOULD YOU CONSIDER GOING TO THE YULE BALL WITH ME? LET ME KNOW.

“Please tell me I forgot to sign it,” Marinette whimpered.

LOVE, MARINETTE-DUPAIN CHENG.

The Great Hall fell silent as the Howler shredded itself to little red bits that fluttered onto Adrien’s breakfast, spent and harmless. Then every single eye at the Slytherin table turned in Marinette’s direction. Chloe Bourgeois, seated at the other end of the table, pointed at Marinette and let out a shriek of laughter. Several titters and giggles followed.

Alya shook Marinette gently. “Hey. It’s not a big deal—”

Marinette jumped up and ran from the Great Hall.

~*~

An hour later, she lay curled up on a bed in the infirmary, faking period cramps so she could cry in peace. Of course by now the entire school must have heard of the morning’s incident, so the nurse may have just been taking pity on her. Still, she appreciated it.

A soft mew prompted Marinette to open her eyes. Standing with its front paws on the bed was the green-eyed black cat that had been following her around for the better part of the term. It carried an envelope in its mouth. “Bonjour Chat Noir,” Marinette whispered, rubbing him behind the ears.

Chat Noir dropped the envelope on the bed. Marinette frowned. It was addressed to her. She opened it with great caution, half-expecting it to be enchanted to laugh at her with Chloe’s voice, but what she found inside was a letter from Adrien.

Marinette,

I’d love to go to the Yule Ball with you. Meet me at the library later?

- Adrien

Marinette stared at the letter in disbelief. Then she looked at Chat Noir. “Did Adrien give you this?”

Chat Noir blinked at her and swept his tail across the floor.

Marinette let out a tearful laugh and scooped him into her arms. “He said yes,” she whispered, burying her face in Chat Noir’s fur. He purred and butted his head against hers, then squirmed out of her grasp and hopped off the bed.

Marinette watched him sneak past the nurse and out the infirmary door, wondering whose cat he was.

Because as far as she knew, Adrien had come to Hogwarts with an owl.

Fluffy ML Reveal Fic - Reverse Crush AU + ADRIENKNOWS™

Okay so I am actually in love with the Reverse Crush AU for ML AND the one-sided reveal headcanon, so here’s some fluff and crap for y’all…

Read on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14922011

Adrien was not prepared to talk to her.

He talked to her everyday, but he still couldn’t wrap his mind around the fact that Marinette - the girl who sat behind him in class with a mind of her own and an iron will - was the girl who had been a stuttering mess around him for an entire year.

Well, he could see it. He knew Ladybug totally kicked ass once she stopped thinking too hard about what she was doing, but she laughed at his jokes. And Marinette? She just shoved him and rolled her eyes. There were things about their personalities - her personality - that he could reconcile. Their ability - her ability (God, that was going to take getting used to) to stand up for herself. How wickedly smart she was. Their laughter was identical, too, now that he thought about it.

Adrien sat on the Eiffel Tower, transformed, and wondered if she had any idea that Adrien - her best friend - was also her partner in (stopping) crime.

Ladybug appeared out of nowhere, a red flash in a sea of the pastel tones that surrounded them. She was silent as she dropped down next to Chat Noir, her gaze dancing in between him and the Parisian skyline. “You look tired,” she said after a moment.

Chat’s Heart Gets Stung!

Hey @edendaphne  so I did the thing…

Here is the artwork of Eden’s that inspired this.

I have no idea what I just created…

Marinette had a strange fear revolving around bugs, particularly scorpions (bug family or not Marinette considered them a bug and she was absolutely terrified of them). Needless to say Marinette was more than a little on edge when a guest speaker came to her class with containers and containers of bugs, including scorpions. While most girls were squealing over the various spiders and tarantulas Marinette eyed the scorpion’s cage warily. She wiped sweaty palms against her jeans and swallowed hard. Her heart drummed in her chest and her breathing felt much too shallow.

“Girl chill out it’s in a cage!” Alya shook her head.

“It could still get out!” Marinette pointed out.

“We’re almost legal adults and you’re telling me you still have a phobia of scorpions?” Alya shook her head incredulously.

“You’re still afraid of swing sets!” Marinette shot back.

“Hey those things are a deathtrap!!!” Alya snapped. Marinette raised an eyebrow at Alya’s outburst. Alya took a deep calming breath. “Okay you’re right but don’t you think it’s about time we faced our fears? Maybe today is the day we leave these silly phobias behind…” Alya urged Marinette towards the table of critters. Marinette’s chest tightened. She shook her head violently, flipping around in Alya’s arms and looking up at her pleadingly.

“Today is not that day!” Marinette pushed Alya away from the table, a lump already forming in Marinette’s throat. Alya sighed in resignation, patting her friend comfortingly on the back. Adrien noticed the girl in distress and began to move away from the table to see what was wrong. All the while Lila sat by and watched. She sent a loathsome look towards Marinette. Lila looked towards the table, smiling cruelly as she discreetly knocked one of the containers to the ground releasing its contents unknowingly into the classroom.

“Hey Marinette is everything okay?” Adrien asked. He knit his brows together as he looked on the frightened girl. Marinette squeaked, nearly jumping into the air at the sound of his voice. She turned to him pulling at one of her pigtails as she did so, cheeks pink.

“I’m fine! I just I- um- I- uh- bugs um they uh- the scorpions they- I uh-“ Marinette fumbled for words running her fingers nervously through one of her pigtails. A smile pulled at the edges of Adrien’s lips.

“Not a fan of scorpions?” Marinette nodded, chewing on her bottom lip. “Want to know something? I’m afraid of spiders,” Adrien admitted.

“Y-you are?!” Marinette’s eyebrows shot up into her bangs.

“Yeah, they really freak me out.” Adrien rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

“They do kill 6.6 people every year!” Marinette blurted. Adrien chuckled.

“So they kill six people and a half person?” Adrien smirked tilting his head to the side.

“Well technically it would by 60% of a person,” Marinette babbled, face growing red. She couldn’t believe she was saying this. To her relief Adrien laughed.

“Somehow I think we are getting this statistic wrong,” Adrien said.

“We probably-“ before Marinette could finish the thought Lila let out a sharp scream. Everyone turned towards her in alarm. Her eyes were blown wide as she pointed a shaky hand towards Marinette.

“Scorpion!!” she shouted. Marinette’s heart beat sped out of control. Her mouth went dry as her head slowly shifted down to see a small black scorpion resting on her foot. Marinette screamed as panic swept over her. Her body jerked backwards in an attempt to shake the scorpion from her. She stumbled backwards throat raw from the inhumanly high pitched noise emanating from her. She fell back onto the ground scorpion landing on her stomach. Her chest felt tight her breathing shallow and erratic. Perspiration lined her forehead. She could hear her pulse pounding haphazardly in her ears.

that horse is way too high for you (1/?)

Yeah, I wrote 3,000 words out of spite and it’s not even finished, but what can I say. But how Malediktator has been set up so far leaves me deeply uncomfortable, mostly because Adrien is allowed to explain why he’s upset, but the class it barely allowed to get a word in and are treated like their problems with Chloe are nothing more than minor annoyances. I want to hope that we’re not meant to be on Adrien’s side, but seeing how Marinette said sorry to him, and that the narrative is ALWAYS on Adrien’s side, I’m not expecting the end of the episode to do a complete turn around. Hence, 3,000 words of spite fic. It takes place directly after the scene where Adrien begins to leave the class in a huff. Have fun!

“She left angry and unhappy. I can’t celebrate that.”

“I’m really sorry, Adrien.”

Marinette’s apology was met with silence, so she wrung her hands together nervously as she waited for any kind of reply. But he kept walking towards the exit of the class, shoulders slumped pitifully. She felt conflicted knowing she couldn’t pretend Chloé leaving didn’t make her a euphoric mix of happy and relieved, so was she really sorry at all? Part of her wondered if that made her a bad person as she struggled to reach the meaning of Adrien’s words to find value in them, but the rest kept reminding her of the nasty comments, the vicious pranks, how all the chances she gave Chloé was met with a lukewarm effort at best, and falling back into her bad habits at worst.

Still, upsetting Adrien wasn’t something she wanted. She made to go after him before he got too far out of the classroom when Alix loudly called out to him;

“How’s the view from up on your high horse there, blondie?”

The excited chatter in the room came to a halt, as did Adrien. He turned around and stared at Alix, looking annoyed, bordering on angry. It was a look Marinette couldn’t remember ever seeing on his face.

“What is that suppose to mean?” he demanded. Marinette took a step out of the way as he calmly walked back into class towards their group. Too calmly. Marinette felt the tension in the air thicken like molasses and she immediately wanted to intervene, her need to keep the peace between her classmates outweighing the conflict in her heart over this whole situation.

“Guys, come on,” Marinette all but pleaded, gesturing for them to calm down.

“Sorry class prez,” Alix spat, “but I think this needs to be said.” She stood to her whole height, which wasn’t a whole lot, but the glare from her sharp blue eyes sure did add an extra foot to her short stature. Adrien clearly wasn’t intimidated though, and returned her glare with one of his own.

“What needs to be said?” he asked, voice wavering only a little. Maybe in anger, but as Marinette really looked at him she could see that he was confused more than anything, like he really didn’t know what was wrong. “I didn’t do anything.”

Alix scoffed. “It’s not about what you did or didn’t do. Actually, it’s not about you at all, and that’s the point.”

“If this… ’partner’, whoever he is,” Adrien said through clenched teeth, “is as kind and brave and selfless as you say he is…then he shouldn’t be making you cry like this.“

Marinette could only shake her head and tighten her grip on her—his—umbrella, as if holding it against the hammering rain would somehow also deflect her friend’s anger towards Chat Noir.

"Can't—” Adrien began again, his voice suddenly dropping to a broken, pleading whisper, “Can’t I— Is it really impossible for you to like me again?”

Dirty Dancing AU

Adrien is pretty sure he’s screwed.

It’s about a billion degrees in the studio, and not much cooler out of it. But that’s not the reason why he’s so hot under the collar.

Or, as his new friend Nino recently taught him, why he’s so “thirsty.”

On the contrary, the temperature has nothing to do with the scorching, creeping heat pinpricking at his skin.

It does, in fact, have everything to do with his stunning dance partner.

It’s summer. For the umpteenth year in a row, Adrien has been shipped off to the dance camp his father runs. At the tender age of 19, he can’t remember a time when he wasn’t dancing, when he didn’t have to follow his father’s ridiculous rules. Coincidentally, he also can’t remember a time when he’d had friends. Or fun.

But this time, it’s different. The previous summers didn’t have Alya Césaire, Nino Lahiffe, or Marinette Dupain-Cheng in them. All three of them are interns, student teachers and amazing dancers in their own right. The kids adore them all.

All three of them have changed Adrien’s world, catapulted it and twisted it. His father, a famous ballet dancer (and yeah up close he doesn’t look like the ballet type at all, but Gabriel Agreste is in fact world renowned) expects his son to be even more famous, even better than him. He expects him to be perfect.

Not only do his friends not expect him to be perfect, but they challenge him to own his mistakes, tease him when he slips up, and let them pass by without the world ending. It’s…honestly a little dazzling to him. They accept him. In all his socially inept glory, they accept him.

“Come on, loosen your hips already!” Marinette teases, twirling towards him, dancing freestyle. Free. So completely free. “What are you so afraid of? Your dad isn’t here!”

Something in his chest tickles at the challenge in her impossibly blue eyes, and he finds himself following her, his body reacting before his mind. The thrumming of a pop song he doesn’t recognise floods the studio and he feels it in his bones.

“I’m not afraid of anything, princess,” he taunts back with a lopsided smile but that’s a bold-faced lie. For one thing, he’s afraid of how hard his heart beats whenever he looks her way.

He loops around her, splaying his hand against her back and she dips unexpectedly, trusting him to keep her from falling. His biceps tighten, rising to the challenge.

He won’t let her fall.

Of the three of his new friends, Marinette is the one who keeps him guessing the most. Outside of dancing, she’s shy, kind, a little quirky. But put her in front of her ragtag group of kids, or on a stage, and she becomes a different person. She stands straighter, her lips quirk, power exudes from her toned muscles and she dances with a grace that Adrien has only ever seen once before. The switch intrigues him, draws him to her like a moth to a flame and oh boy is he ready to burn.

Ok. So. He might have a teeny tiny crush. It’s ok though. He can handle it.

They continue to dance together. Truth be told Adrien is not great at the whole freestyle thing. His life is a series of schedules, choreographed to the point where freedom isn’t something he’s used to. So his freestyle is messy, it’s clumsy and awkward. But he loves it because of that, because it’s perfectly imperfect.

Just like the girl dancing beside him. Perfectly imperfect. Graceful and clumsy, smart and silly.

Beautiful.

And oh no. He’s right now realising that it’s not such a teeny crush. It’s a full blown “I might actually be in love with you a little bit” kind of crush.

Yep. He’s so screwed.

Summary:  After discovering the wonders of Ladynoir fanfiction, Adrien sets out to start his own with his classmate Marinette helping him along the way. But when does fiction start becoming reality?

This story is also beta’d by the wonderful @serendipitousReckonings here on archive, @dickerdoodlez on tumblr.

Chapter 1

Adrien was never the writing type. He did write well - written papers and essays – at least according to his teachers – and was even occasionally asked by a few of his classmates for some writing tips. But, it was for educational purposes only. He‘d never had any sort of passion to write an actual story and he never thought of himself as the imaginative kind anyway. His mind was almost always focused on school, his responsibilities set by his father, and his masked identity. He never really had that luxury of being able to think about anything else. Well, except for his Lady, but that was something entirely different.

In The Rain

~I wanted angst. So yep.~

Adrien felt hollowed from the inside out when his Lady dropped her transformation. This was supposed to be the best day of his life.

She had finally said yes, to this, to opening themselves up to one another. He would finally be able to meet the eyes of the girl he loved unmasked, and tell her that he loved her.

Except now he couldn’t.

Because this was Marinette. His friend that had asked him out 3 months ago. Who stood with a radiant blush and hopeful eyes after pouring out her feelings. Whom he rejected, left broken hearted alone just as it had begun to rain.

His princess, that out of guilt, he visited every night, comforting, pushing her to look for the good in other people. To find someone new to love.

And whom he, without realizing, fell in love with while seeing her as his black leathered alter ego.

But it didn’t matter to him, because Ladybug was always number 1 in his heart. Chat was convinced that regardless how sweet and kind and clever she was, Ladybug was the only one for him.

So when Marinette admitted to having said yes to Nathanael, and beginning a relationship, Chat swallowed his pride and cheered for his friend. A month and a half of a happy relationship proved it would work out. Marinette is his friend and princess, and Chat has his Lady.

But he doesn’t. Not anymore. He gave her away to a boy that had loved who she really was from the start.

Marinette smiled up at him, obviously excited having to reveal that the friend Chat had comforted and his best friend and partner in crime were one and the same. She was ready to share all her stories, secrets, and friendship with her minou without barriers once and for all.

The sky cracked open and rain began to pour.

Chat ran.
