43? If you haven't done it yet?
43. “I never knew you were a cat person.”
Harry was watching Merlin from the entryway to the kitchen. He held a bowl of milk in one hand and some sort of dried bits in another. “Darling?”
“What are you doing with those bowls there?”
Merlin turned around and gave Harry the most adorable confused look as he tilted his head. “I’m going to feed the cats.”
Of all the responses, Harry did not expect that, and became perplexed. “But we don’t have any cats.”
“Of course I know that. This for the strays outside,” Merlin said as though it were the most obvious answer in the world.
“Ah,” Harry said indifferentl. “Of course. The strays.”
Merlin gave Harry a smile before walking past him and to the front door, balancing the treats as he maneuvered his way outside. Harry followed and was surprised to see three alleycats waiting patiently for Merlin to bring them their dinner. How long has he been doing this since they moved in together?
“I never knew you were a cat person,” Harry said fondly.
Merlin shrugged as he placed the bowls on the ground. “Not necessarily. Just…didn’t want these wee ones to go hungry.”
Harry smiled warmly at his partner. “Do you have names for them, then?”
“Ah, no, not exactly.”
“Perfect. Lord Fluffington, Mister Gherkin, and Lady Marmalade.”
Merlin looked at Harry with a blank expression. “If we ever decide to adopt, you are not allowed to name that child.”
