miso izakaya

信州蕎麦焼き味噌 // Shinshu Buckwheat Yakimiso
I had no idea what to expect when I saw yakimiso (焼き味噌 lit. ‘grilled miso’) on the menu, but I still felt pretty blindsided when the server came out with this rice scoop on a plate. It was so good though! Miso mixed with ginger, green onions, and other aromatics, plus some local buckwheat (soba), grilled until crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Very good snack.

Miso Izakaya Ramen Lunch.

Today I met up with some friends at one of my favorite local restaurants, Miso Izakaya, for their famous Ramen Lunch. In my opinion, it’s easily the best ramen in the city. I always get the Tonkotsu, and it’s always delicious. I love how the different flavors play off each other, like the corn, the pickled ginger, and egg yolk. Love it. I can’t recommend this lunch enough.
