What’s happening in the sky? Light pillars! The effect is created by the reflection of light from numerous tiny ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere or clouds. As the ground temperature was above freezing, the flat crystals likely melted as they approached the ground, creating a lower end to the vertical light pillars.

X Factor star Anthony Russell 'would be dead' without Louis Tomlinson's help
EXCLUSIVE: The Liverpool singer was hotly tipped on last year's show before quitting after confessing to drink and drug addiction
By Mark Jefferies

X Factor star Anthony Russell has thanked Louis Tomlinson for putting him through rehabilitation and admitted: “I would be dead now if it was not for him.”

The Liverpool singer got through to Judges Houses last year and was a favourite to make the live shows yet quit the contest after confessing he was hooked on drink and drugs.

But now Anthony, 28, is fighting fit and hell-bent on winning the show and it is all thanks to the One Direction mentor he calls his “guardian angel”.

And he privately reached out to the hopeful last year and encouraged him to go to rehab.Speaking for the first time about Louis’s intervention, Anthony admits: “Louis is a godsend, I would be dead now if it was not for him. I think about it every day and pray for the kid every day, I owe him my life.”

Phone calls with Louis, rehab and AA meetings have kept Anthony on the straight and narrow for 10 months.

He said: “I’m always going to be a recovering addict. Since rehab Louis has called me. He proper cares. I need to make him proud.”
