The original image was duplicated, flipped, and combined with itself (via HDR) to create this bit of cheezy fun. The emanations coming from the cityscape are the mirror image of the car headlights in the foreground. This is a self contained image..no cheap overlays. :)
I sometimes find it difficult to capture Fall color in a satisfying way other than closer shots while I’m in such an urban area. I don’t like seeing cars and road signs and other distractions. Although this scene is small, it greater expresses the experience of walking down the street in Uptown Minneapolis during Fall.
I met a man in Nashville who was amazed by the “sky bridges of Minneapolis”. When you see them everyday you get used to them and they’re no big deal. But it never occurs to me how strange the concept of skyways are to people from places outside of Minnesota.
I spent the beginning of the summer in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN) and shot everything you see here. They combine to be a beautiful city full of good people and many interesting things to keep one entertained. Being from a small town and never getting to experience the “Night Life” of a large city I set out to capture what they mostly look like at night. On the way I found some fantastic Gardens, Sculptures and more! This city truly has so much to offer to anyone living here or visiting.
