I just went on a little hunt for some context about the unnamed band after seeing @verily-i-say‘s post about a possible reality TV show being the source of the shady around the unnamed band, and noticed that in this Sugarscape article, there is a video promoting BITB and the reference at the end was for Sony Music, not Sony UK.
None of this is new information, but we all know that Simon lives and breathes reality TV. Additionally, US reality TV often makes its way to the UK, but UK reality TV rarely comes to the US.
If this is going to be a TV show, the shadiness makes sense. Provide the fandom with some hints, but not much, just enough to get us curious. Hold closed performances so that they can be filmed without giving anything away. And of course, have a Syco employee coordinating everything.
There’s also that New York Times article from 30 May talking about Simon having a new show up his sleeve that he didn’t want to say much about.
If you have brand recognition and a network that supports the show and reinvests in the show, you’ve got a real shot. But obviously with “Idol” going, it leaves a hole in the market for something new, I think. And we might have something.
Another show? Would it be a singing show?
I’m not going to give too much away. But the idea is unique. If we do make it, it’ll become clearer why it’s a good idea. It’s not a gimmick show.
I don’t personally like this explanation, I want Louis far, far away from Syco and Simon, and this does not explain why there was not even a vague mention of Louis doing A&R for Syco when he was on AGT, but at the same time, overall, it fits logically into what we know now.
So, it’s a working theory until we have more information.
My bullet journal spread for this week! After all these months, my first time “officially” (as in I’ve attempted but failed ahaha) completing a weekly spread, lmao. Quite an eventful week, if I do say so myself!
