mine: the great gatsby 1974

i’m watching the old The Great Gatsby from 1974 right now and it makes me so happy. old movies are always so genuine and not so controlled by perfection as movies are nowadays. It doesn’t matter if you sweat a little and it doesn’t matter if not every strand of your hair is in place. The acting is so charming and the way they film is amazing. Watching old movies really calms me down.

I feel that movies today are unnecessary “perfect”, and that really makes the movies and real life like two completely different worlds.

I was watching The Great Gatsby (1974) movie in class

And when Nick Carraway (main character for those of you who aren’t familiar with the book/film),  one of my favorite characters, shows up I almost shrieked.

IT’S SAM WATERSTON

AKA LINCOLN FROM GORE VIDAL’S MINISERIES

I wasn’t the only one who noticed. I heard a guy lean over to his friend and go, “Hey, that’s Sam Waterston from…”

From then on all I kept imagining was a young Lincoln living in New York during the 1920s.

But then a few minutes later, GUESS WHO ELSE SHOWS UP.

THAT’S RIGHT, HOWARD DA SILVA AKA THE GUY WHO PLAYS BEN FRANKLIN FROM THE MOVIE1776.

SO THEN LINCOLN NICK AND MEYER WOLFSHEIM (DA SILVA’S CHARACTER) WERE TALKING,

BUT ALL I SAW WAS A CONVERSATION BETWEEN BENJAMIN FRANKLIN AND ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

I’m going to watch the rest of this movie later.
