The Lord of the Rings Meme  28. favourite family relationship: siblings

“My friend, you had horses, and deed of arms, and the free fields; but she, being born in the body of a maid, had a spirit and courage at least the match of yours.”  | “Yet between the brothers there was great love, and had been since childhood, when Boromir was the helper and protector of Faramir. No jealousy or rivalry had arisen between them since, for their father’s favour or for the praise of men.”

LOTR 30 Day Challenge

Day 18: Best fight scene.

By far one of the more intense battle moments. I just loved everything about it, Lurtz being insane and definitely taking the whole “‘Tis but a scratch” to a completely and exponentially different level. Also Aragorn being all rugged and badass.

Fun fact: Lurtz was not an original character. Jackson created this character as a way to give a face to the antagonist that was the giant army Saruman was forming.

And, when filming the battle scene when Lurtz throws Aragorn’s dagger back at him, it was meant to hit a treat near Aragorn. Instead, because the actor portraying Lurtz (Lawrence Makoare) has horrible vision which was impaired even further by the makeup and contacts, he threw it directly at Viggo. So that badass block was actually just Viggo trying not to get his head taken off.

Day 20- Saddest Character Death

Gandalf the Grey. Even though Gandalf eventually gets reincarnated, this scene is so sad because of the anguish it causes the other members of the fellowship. Also, the last bit of Howard Shore’s song “The Bridge of Khazad Dum” is enough to make anyone cry.

Day 21- Most Inspiring Moment

Aragorn’s Black Gate speech. This speech is so powerful, he could have convinced me to take on the Balrog armed with nothing but Ori’s slingshot.

“Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!”

Day 3: Is there any of the films adaptations that have made you angry because they’ve ignored important parts of the book?

#UM OH I DON’T KNOW I MEAN THEY KINDA SKIPPED THE ONLY LEGIT LOVE STORY IN THE ENTIRE TRILOGY, I MEAN ARWEN WAS ONLY IN THE BOOK FOR LIKE HALF A PAGE AND EOWYN NEEDED TO NOT WANNA BE A QUEEN ANYMORE AND FARAMIR NEEDED TO LIKE GRAB HER AND KISS HER ON THE WALLS OF MINAS TIRITH, NOT GIVING A SHIT IF ANYONE SAW OKAY
