Henri Matisse

  • “Creativity takes courage.”

Hello all!

I forgot to make a new lock calendar for my phone this month (and have been turning to photoshop as my #1 procrastination tool, eeeeeeek), and can’t decide which to use. I thought y’all might enjoy them too! (The first one is inspired by the incredible @lockscreenxqueen–an unfortunate crack in my screen made her original a little hard to read on my phone, but you should check out hers, as well!)

To introduce myself, I’m Katie and I’m a first year law student in California. Before this, I studied computer science and worked as a software developer for a couple of years. I’m not exactly a new studyblr, but now that I’m back in school again, I want to actually create and share content this time around, rather than just staring in awe at everyone else’s amazing bujo spreads like I did before. I also live next door to a Muji, so keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway in the coming weeks!

Some blogs I already admire are @mathematicool, @emmastudies,@chimsanstudies@aescademic, @studythetics, @brbimstudying, @mindpalacestudy, @studyquill, @studylilacs, @studykouffee, @productivityatm, @eintsein, @smoinerd, @somestudy, @filofaxing, @legallychic and approximately 100000 more every single day I check my dash.

You all inspire me every day–keep going!

WOW. In honour of reaching 1000 followers on this blog yesterday, I wanted to honour some of the people I follow. All of them have been an inspiration and a huge part of why I joined this community. And a special shout out to my mutuals, you guys are cool beans!

I appeal to all of you this time to find a girl tumblr.
I love her bujo and really inspired me to let my creativity fly and be able to decorate my bujo in a more beautiful way.
I hope I can find it because I would love to follow your publications and if they can help me find you I would really appreciate them.

There are a million ways to bullet journal, but here’s the method that works best for me -

1. set up reference pages - these are pages holding important information that you’ll be looking at often. For example, I have a page with a list of birthdays that I need to remember, and another page with some long-term goals that I don’t want to mix up with my weekly tasks. Other ideas for reference pages are important websites, teacher’s emails, term dates etc.

2. set up ‘to-do’ page - when I have long holidays I like to plan my tasks in week-long chunks and make the page look really pretty (example here) but in school term I haven’t got the time to decorate my journal, so I’ve found that the table method (picture above) works well for me. I use washi tape to make a column where I write the date in, then I write the tasks in the next column, colouring in the bullet when I’ve completed the task. I don’t use a key or colour coding because I don’t find it very useful!

3. set up ‘done’ page - as you can see, my page dedicated to done tasks is laid out in exactly the same way as my to-do page. The reason I make a separate page to show my completed tasks is because it’s nice to fill in at the end of the day, so you can see how productive you’ve actually been. If I haven’t crossed off all my tasks for the day I begin to feel a bit stressed, so writing what I have achieved rather than focusing on what I haven’t achieved helps me to relax.

4. write specific and achievable tasks - this helps me split up a task and stop procrastinating: instead of writing ‘do art coursework’ I’ll write ‘make observational drawing page’ so I know exactly what I have to do and I can get it done in the foreseeable future. I also like to include tasks that involve self-care, like ‘deep condition my hair’ or ‘go to bed before 11PM’, because it helps me not to focus an unhealthy amount on work.

I hope this helps you become more organised and enjoy bullet journalling! Remember that this is only how I do it, it’s important that you find a way which works for you.

other posts from me: stress reduction masterpost, how to mind map, how I take notes  :)

Hey how can I start a bullet journal?

  1. start with a nice, fresh notebook (i use this one)
  2. on the first page, make a legend with different shapes for bullets and different colors. for example, i use squares for tasks and circles for events. some people use exclamation points for deadlines and other people use one color for personal stuff and another color for work-related things.
  3. after your legend, you can set up an index/table of contents. (date, title, page numbers)
  4. the next few steps don’t have to be done in this order, but this is what i did. you can leave some pages blank (music to listen to, movies to watch, motivation quotes, goals, etc.)
  5. you can always add more of those ^ pages in between your spreads so don’t worry if you don’t think you’ll have enough. after these pages, you can make a yearly spread. this is typically 1 page or 2 side-by-side pages that have very small calendars for each month of the year. here is mine.
  6. now, you’re ready to start your first month! a monthly spread is usually 2 side-by-side pages with a huge calendar for the month. the squares for each day should be big enough to write any important events.
  7. next are weekly/daily spreads. i recommend that you do NOT plan these out ahead of time! you might be overestimating or underestimating how many things you have to get done on a specific day and you might be wasting paper or you don’t have enough. i don’t necessarily use weekly spreads. i just do each day and fit about 4 or 5 days in 2 side-by-side pages like this:

8. as you can see, those were from the summer, so i didn’t have any school work to include and it wasn’t very eventful (LOL). i draw 8 drops of water scattered around each daily spread and color them in with blue for each cup of water i drink that day. after each thing i complete, i color it in green. that night or the next morning, i color in red what i did not do. i like to add motivational/inspirational/comforting quotes after each day!!

9. that’s basically it! don’t be afraid to be creative or to do things differently. use pens, crayons, markers, washi tape, whatever you want!

in my bullet journal tag, you can find lots of different ideas and systems!

@studytildawn, @studymre, @academicmind, @studyrose , and @mindpalacestudy have some of my favorite bullet journal spreads!! check them out!

I should really make a blogroll hehe

Hello! After watching the studyblr community from afar for a very, very, very long time, I thought I’d finally make one myself. :)

My name’s Briony and I’m in my fourth year of high school here in Scotland (which I believe is equivalent to sophomore year in the US) and I’m currently studying Maths, English, Biology, French, Drama, Geography and Modern Studies at National 5 level (Scottish equivalent to GCSEs).

Some of my biggest inspirations for creating this studyblr are:

@studyrelief @areistotle @studybuzz @studysthetics @studytildawn @mindpalacestudy @mediocrestudyblr @getstudyblr and @getyoureducation

Please reblog this if you’re a studyblr so I can follow you, thank you! :-)

Hey everyone! My name is Tally, I’m 18 y/o and I’m from England. I’m new to the studyblr community, despite having been on tumblr for 6 years, and I’m joining in the hopes that it will encourage me to stay focused, be more organised, study harder and meet some new people, which are things I’ve really struggled with for the last few years due to anxiety. However, I’m in a good place now, feeling super optimistic and ready for September. :)

This year I’ll be studying

- a level French

- a level Spanish

- GCSE English

- GCSE Psychology

Some little facts

- I love astrology and anything to do with space (i’m a leo!)

- My favourite animes are Attack on Titan, Ouran Highschool Host Club and Terror In Resonance (and 20 others)

- My favourite Disney films are Big Hero 6, Tarzan and Treasure Planet

- I’ve watched every series of RuPaul’s Drag Race at least 5 times and have a small obsession with Adore Delano and Milk

- I love animals and currently have my boyfriend’s 2 puppies in my lap and his cat rubbing against my knee

- I collect notepads and pens because I can’t go 10 minutes without either writing, doodling or colouring

- The first thing on my bucket list is to watch every Harry Potter film in one day

Studying for my American Literature exam next week, and these movements are a little bit boring to go over again. But I think my notes are pretty cute! I hope it goes well ( ◠ ‿  ◠ )

Hello, world! I’m Rach, better know as the sleep-deprived, coffee consuming high school junior senior who’s obsessed with books, adores cats, and has a great weakness for cute stationary. I accidentally stumbled upon the studyblr community a few days ago and after stalking a ton of studyblrs out there finally mustered up the courage to introduce myself.

I usually take “rough” notes in class and then redo them in a more aesthetically pleasing format a day of two before an exam as I’ve found it helps me to remember the content much better. I’ll be starting summer school in a couple of weeks and want to track my progress in that class, which is partially why I decided to join this wonderful community. Since I’m a rising senior, I also want to get ahold of my life, stay motivated, get (even more) organised, and just share my creations with all you beautiful humans out there!

Speaking of beautiful humans, here are the marvellous studyblrs that have really motivated me and inspired me to create my own [there are a lot, just letting you know]:
