Whenever people are inside of storms, all they’re ever looking for is a way out. But maybe that’s not what it’s about. Maybe it’s about being in the middle of a blizzard and laughing because you can’t even see your hands. Maybe it’s about watching your house go up in flames in the middle of the night and looking back and thinking that the red and orange looks beautiful against the black sky. It’s looking at the tsunami wave coming at you and reveling in the fact that the last thing you’re going to see is an enormous wall of water. Because we’re all going to be in the middle of a storm, and we’re all going to die someday. There’s no way around that. And even if it’s not life-or-death and you know you’re going to be fine, it’s about finding a way to enjoy the storm. It’s your friends screwing you over and laughing about how ridiculous they’re being. It’s the boy you thought you’d marry leaving you at the altar and shrugging your shoulders and realizing that maybe it’s for the best. It’s losing your job Monday morning and leaving for a road trip across the country Monday night. Because we’re all going to be in the middle of a storm, and we’re all going to die someday. There’s no way around that. But you choose how you get to live. You decide if you see life as a giant storm or a beautiful gift. We’re all going to die. Don’t let you last thought be yourself thinking you made the wrong decision.
