“Thank you so much Jungkook for doing this. I owe you one.” Mrs. Kim said as she handed little Mimie into Jungkook’s arms. “No problem, Mrs. Kim. She’s practically like a sister to me, anyway.”
The Kim’s lived next door to the Jeon’s for years and Mrs. Kim had seen Jungkook grow from a little schoolboy to a teenager. They were like his second family and when Mimie (short for Miyoung), their one year-old daughter, came into their lives… Jungkook was smitten and had treated her as if she was his own little sister.
“I’ll be back in a few hours, hopefully before it gets too late.” Mrs. Kim said as she went for the door. “You got everything, right? You know where to get her toys? Her milk, her—“
“Yes, mam.” Jungkook saluted as Mimie clapped his face and he smiled down at her in return.
Mrs. Kim looked a bit worried and Jungkook sighed and assured her, “We’ll be alright, Mrs. Kim. I can handle her.”
“I know you can…”
“You know, the sooner you leave, the sooner you can get back.” Jungkook chuckled and she blinked. “Since when did you become a smart mouth?”
“I learned from the best.” He shrugged and Mrs. Kim chuckled. “Well, my number at the office is on the fridge in case my phone dies and if you need me—“
“Noted.” He smiled as he took one of Mimie’s hands and made it do a small wave. “Say goodbye to mommy now, Mimie.”
“Omma!” the little girl chirped as she continued to wave.
“Have fun, you two.” she said as she blew a kiss before finally closing the door shut.
Jungkook turned to Mimie and grinned, “It’s just you and oppa, Mimie. What do you say? Game time?” Mimie let out a giggle as Jungkook tickled her sides.
An hour later, Jungkook stared at the little girl, who was sitting down on the floor, crying and wailing like there’s not tomorrow. “Mimie, shh!” Jungkook flinched when she only cried harder. Never in his life has he seen someone cry this hard—or loud. Whenever he saw Mimie, she was a bouncing ball of smiles and laughter; not a wailing red-faced dragon.
Jungkook had received a text from Mrs. Kim and said that she’d be home a little later than expected. He groaned inwardly, as he realized that he would have to handle Mimie for a while longer. The truth was, he had no clue about babysitting and he only took up the offer to get some extra cash and because he couldn’t resist the cute little girl. Plus, he never thought it would take this long. And to think he was planning on seeing his girlfriend tonight. Looks like that’s not happening, he thought.
When Mimie wouldn’t stop crying no matter how much he tried to make her stop, he knew he had to do something before the kid floods the whole house with her tears and breaks every glass with her piercing wails.
Jungkook took out his phone and called the one person he knew would—could help.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. Jungkook took Mimie into his arms, still crying, and thought, thank the gods! as he went to get the door
He opened it, and there standing with a worried expression, was Hana, his girlfriend. “What’s the 911?!” she panted. “What’s the emergency? Are you all right? Are you hurt? Where’s the fire?”
“I need you to help me babysit.” He said and just on cue, Mimie cried out, making them jump.
Hana looked at the baby in his arms and then switched his gaze to him. “Jeon. Jungkook.” She said as she openly glared at him, still trying to catch her breath. “Are you telling me that I came all this way… no, ran all the way here because you wanted me to help you babysit?!” she yelled.
Jungkook looked at her helplessly, “Please jagi, I don’t know what to do anymore.” Mimie wailed more and Hana’s eyes widened. “Why is she crying?”
“I don’t know!” Jungkook yelled in frustration as he stepped aside to let her in. “She’s been crying since forever.”
“I’m not.” He said seriously as he pointed at the kid. “Does her face look like she just started crying? She’s so red, Hana!”
“Okay! Okay!” Hana fumbled for her purse and took out her handkerchief. “Let me hold her.” Jungkook did so and Hana cradled the girl in her arms as she wiped her tears and sweat, “Shh…It’s okay, stop crying.”
Mimie’s wailing stopped but she was still crying. “What do you think she wants?”
Hana gave him an incredulous look, “Don’t ask me! How should I know?”
“You’re the girl!” Jungkook argued. “Aren’t you supposed to know about these things?”
“Exactly. Emphasis on the girl. I’m a girl not a mom.”
“You’re on your way there, anyway.” He said and Hana punched him in the arm. “What?!” he exclaimed as he rubbed his arm. “It’s true!”
“Maybe she’s hungry…” Hana thought as she continued to rock Mimie in her arms. “Did you feed her?”
Jungkook stayed silent and she rolled her eyes. “Pabo. Why the hell did you take this babysitting thing if you couldn’t handle it?”
“I can handle it!” he protested as he led her into the kitchen to make her bottle.
“Of course you can, everything is completely fine!” Hana said as she gave him the kid. “Here, hold her for a sec while I do this.”
“Fighting jagiya.” He said with a grin and she kicked him in the shin. “Ow!”
“I don’t know how Mrs. Kim trusted you with her.” She said as she read the instructions printed on the milk can on how to make her bottle. “I would never trust you with my child.”
“What?” he exclaimed. “How can you not trust me with our child?!”
“Because I—“ it was only when she said it did she realize what he just said and her cheeks flushed.
“Jagi~ are you okay? Your cheeks are red.” He said as he smirked and poked her cheek. She swatted his hand away. “Yah! Leave me alone I’m busy.” She said as she took the bottle and poured in the proper amount of water and milk.
“Mommy’s grumpy.” He said to Mimie, playfully.
“Well daddy’s an idiot.” She retorted as she checked the temperature of the milk before handing it to Mimie. The little girl held the bottle and quaffed it down almost hungrily. “See? The poor girl is starved!”
Jungkook was giving her a look she couldn’t read. It ws like a mixed of dazed and surprised—or was that desire? “What?”
He blinked and the smiled smugly at her, his eyes drooping ever so slightly. “I like it when you call me daddy.”
She rolled her eyes and tried to suppress the grin and blush creeping up to her face. She shoved him, “Pervert.”
“Yah!” he said as he pointed at Mimie in his arms. “I’m with child.”
“Do you have any idea how funny that sounded?” she laughed. Jungkook smiled as he watched her laugh. God she’s beautiful, he thought.
Mimie finished the bottle and looked like she was holding her breath. “Why does she look funny?”
“I don’t know.” Hana shrugged and took out her phone.
“What are you doing?”
“Googling what’s wrong.” She said and she snapped her fingers when she found what she was looking for. “Ah! You need to burp her.”
“Excuse me?” Jungkook gave her a look.
“Burp her.” She repeated. “It says here you have to do it after every feed. Here,” she turned Mimie around so she was facing Jungkook. “There, now pat her back gently until she burps.”
“You’re good at this.”
“It’s all Google. Jungkook. Just Google.”
“You’re good at Googling.” He said with a flirty smile and she pinched his nose.
A small noise came from Mimie and Hana smiled, “See that wasn’t so hard—“
“Why do I feel something wet on my back?”
Hana scrunched her eyebrows and took a look behind him, only to find that Mimie had thrown up. She chuckled, “Well, she let out more than just air, that’s for sure.”
“Seriosuly?” he groaned as Hana laughed and took the girl from his arms. “I’ll hold her, go change.”
He looked at Mimie disapprovingly, “You’re lucky I brought an extra shirt or oppa would be walking around here half naked and it would be maddening for your unnie…”
Hana rolled her eyes, “How is seeing you half naked maddening to me?”
“Oh please,” he snorted as he left the room to change. “You wouldn’t be able to take my glorious body.”
“As if.” She rolled her eyes. “Just go take your glorious body and change, you smell like baby vomit.” Jungkook groaned as he made his way into the bathroom.
After about ten minutes, Hana was sitting on the living room couch playing with Mimie, when Jungkook came out of the bathroom, half naked and his body slightly wet . “Jagi, can you pass me my bag?”
He wasn’t joking about his glorious body, Hana thought. They had only been dating for a few months and she had never seen him like this before; though she had heard that he did have some abs to show. She just didn’t believe it until now. “Uh…”
Jungkook looked at her and stopped wiping his body with the towel. He smirked when he caught her checking him out. “Like what you see, Jagi?”
Hana tried to cover up her surprise by rolling her eyes, “Here.” She tossed his bag, though her voice sounded shaky and she couldn’t look at him. “Put on a shirt. Have mercy on the kid.”
“You sure it’s Mimie I should have mercy on?” he grinned and Hana threw a pillow at him. “Just go!”
Jungkook chuckled, showing his adorable rabbit smile, “You’re so cute, jagi.”
When Jungkook went back into the bathroom to change, Hana heard a fart sound. She jumped slightly and stared at Mimie who was getting teary-eyed. “Oh no.”
Just as Jungkook went out of the bathroom, fully clothed to her relief, Mimie let out a wail. He jumped and the two of them satred at each other, wide-eyed. “What now?” they said in unison as they scrambled to get to the little girl.
When Jugnkook lifted her up, he sniffed and made a face. “Something doesn’t smell right…”
Hana sniffed Mimie and gagged, “Oh god. Wow.” She said as she covered her nose.
“You change her.” He said.
“Come on jagi! I don’t know how!” he said.
“And you think I do?I’m the youngest in my family!” she said.
“So am I!”
Hana grunted “Again! Why did you even take this up if you can’t handle it?”
“I can!” he protested, making Mimie wail louder.
“Then do it.” she challenged.
“Help me?” he pouted and if it weren’t for the wailing baby, Hana would’ve laughed at his adorable expression. “Ugh. Fine.
They went into the nursery and laid her down as they tried their best to change Mimie’s diaper. After a few minutes of bickering, figuring out the diaper strap, and shoving who would clean the baby’s butt; they finally did it. They went back into the living room and the night went by as the three of them spent some quality bonding time.
“Oppa!” Mimie yelled and Jungkook brightened at the sound of it. He grabbed her from the ground and tossed her playfully. “Jagiya!”
Hana just came out from the kitchen with a bottle in hand. “Yeah?”
“Did you hear?” he grinned. “He called me oppa! He said oppa!”
Jungkook’s laugh was so contagious that Hana couldn’t help but smile. She watched as Jungkook continued to play with Mimie, fangirling silently at the sight. She suddenly wondered what it would be like if it were their—
What on earth am I thinking?!, she thought as she cleared her throat hoping he didn’t see her blush. What would he think if he knew that I was thinking about having a family with him?The poor boy would probably be so terrified and run home and hide.
Hana was a year older than him and though the age difference wasn’t anything to be worried about, she still felt uneasy about it.
By 9 PM, they were all sitting on the couch. Mimie was sitting on Jungkook’s lap, her head resting on his chest as she drank her bottle. Hana sat beside him watching her. “She’s so pretty.”
“When she’s not wailing.” Jungkook agreed as he moved her bangs from her forehead and gave her a kiss. Mimie’s eyes were already closed and she had fallen asleep on Jungkook’s chest. “She’s lucky to have an oppa like you.” Hana said. “Even though you’re not related or anything.”
Jungkook chuckled. “Well she ‘s lucky to have an unnie like you too.” He said as he smiled at her. “But…”
“I’m luckier cause I have a jagiya like you.” He said and Hana had to avert her gaze to keep him from seeing her blush. She felt a hand cup her chin and she was back to gazing at him. “Why do you look away?”
“I don’t know.” She looked down. “I’m embarrassed, I guess?”
“I—I—don’t know,” she stuttered. “I just don’t want you to see me a blushing mess.”
“But I like seeing you a blushing mess.” He said as he made her face him again. “I like it, Hana. I like that I have that effect on you.” Hana rolled her eyes with a smile.
“But you know what I like more?”
“Yah~” she punched him lightly as she covered her face which probably looked as red as a rose by now. “Stop saying things like that.”
“Never.” He said with a laugh.
When she finally calmed her beating heart, she leaned back on the sofa and sighed, “I’m tired, but this was actually fun.”
“Yeah.” Hana leaned her head on his shoulder, exhaustion taking over her.
“What do you think about having a family?”
Hana’s eyes widened and she jumped out of her seat like he just said there was a bug beside her. “Wha—“
Jungkook was laughing at her but tried his best not to wake up Mimie, who was still sleeping soundly on his chest. “Oh god, your face Hana—“ She was going to throw a pillow at him if it weren’t for the baby he was carrying. He stuck out his tongue at her, victorius at having Mimie serve as his own personal shield.
She sat back down and sighed, “Don’t joke like that, Jungkook.”
“Who said I was joking?”
Hana looked at him and was surprised to meet his sincere gaze. “Wha—“ before she could finish that syllable, Jungkook had leaned down and kissed her. When they parted, Hana was once again, a blushing mess.
“You know, Hana. It’s hard not to fall for you when you’re so cute.” He said as he gave her nose a peck.
“I could say the same for you.” She gasped, heart racing at his confession of being in love with her.
“Nah.. you fell for my hotness.”
“Excuse me?” she raised her eyebrow. “Last time I checked, you’re the maknae here.”
“Last time I checked,” he challenged, “You couldn’t keep your eyes off me when I went out of the bathroom…You know, shirtless.”
“How am I the pervert when you were the one staring?”
“I hate you.”
“I love you too.” He chuckled as he kissed the side of her head. “But you have to admit, this was good practice.”
“You’ll be an expert in no time. “ he added with a smile. “You’re a natural!”
“I don’t get what you’re saying.”
“I’ll tell you when we get married.”
“Okay, fine” She grumbled as she laid her head on his shoulder. Then reality struck her a little too late and she realized what he just said. Jungkook was already chuckling when she sat up at stared at him, “Wait, what?”
