A rare uncropped photo of the ‘Million Dollar Quartet’, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, gathered around a piano at Sun Studios in Memphis, with Marilyn Evans (Elvis’ then-girlfriend), sitting on the piano (December 4, 1956)
These pictures reminds me of something Carl said in an interview in 1990. [x]
“I mean this was the most magic, different looking, handsome dude, and I use to look at the side of his face, and I said; Lord this ain’t right, he’s too pretty, I look like Mr. Ed the mule. So I just turned my guitar up a little louder and jumped a little higher, and said I’ll just write songs, he can’t do that. ’’ – Carl Perkins.
