millennium scale

What the fuck is wrong with Shadi? During the decade or so of his death and wandering around as a ghost with the Millennium Scales letting some Egyptian god eat people, did not think ever at one point think to check up on the kids he died in front of. Then he goes to Marik and tells him the Pharaoh fucked his life up. I guess he didn’t check up on Aigami because Aigami went and fucked up on his own life. Other questions: What’s with the turban? I guess ghosts can also change their outfits. How did he pet Yugi’s head? How did he rig that death trap in their school? I don’t know how ghosts work. Was Shadi actually ageless, Yami Bakura called him an old man. Who even was this guy?

Yu-Gi-Oh Head Canon: The people of Kul Elna were still alive when they were smelted into the Millennium Items.

The Millennium Tome called for 99 human sacrifices in order to create the seven Millennium Items. Not only did this call for their blood, bones, and flesh to be smelted into the gold that created them but the souls of the people were needed to give the Millennium Items their magical properties. To accomplish this, Akhenaden had them sedated so they wouldn’t struggle and dropped them in one by one as Bakura watched them drown and burn to death in the metal.

(Alternative head canon is that the medicine used for sedation was opium. Being a powerful drug that allowed for Egyptians to perform surgeries, it was the perfect choice and allowed for the victims to stay alive long enough for their inevitable demise. A terrible twist, however, is that opium is also a well known ingredient in morphine, which is a well known treatment for chronic pain. So, if any of the victims were “lucky”, the agony they felt may have been lessened by the effects of the opium.)

(This head canon is only supported by the Japanese anime. If you listen closely, you can hear the screams of the victims coincide with the bodies dropping in.)

Hey Archy I just wanted to ask you about public space. What makes some public space successful and others derelict. What role does architecture play in the making of public space ? And how do people, nature and natural processes all interact to make a place magical ?

A public space is only successful if people use it. If I had the formula of how the elements combine to make every public space magical i would have patented it by now but I can tell you that the most successful public spaces, in my opinion, have some commonalities:

  • Design and location, successful public spaces are typically at the center of town or in an important location. Therefore they have a captured audience. Their design (landscape architecture, art and architecture) draws people in with few obstacles or limited entry points so you could just wander in and they offer a variety of places to stop and sit down. Could be a shaded area or a smaller seating area but they invite you to stay for a while even if it just to rest your feet or people watching!
