milkin' it

proof that sherlock’s lactose intolerant:

  1. he takes his coffee without milk and who would willingly drink coffee like that if it wasn’t for the fact that lactose-free milk/pills aren’t always nearby??
  2. we’ve never seen him drink milk, but even if we saw he could have been drinking lactose-free milk
  3. in fact i don’t think we’ve ever seen him eat dairy products, except for that box of ice cream in the kitchen, which brings me to
  4. life would fuck him over like that, an ice cream obsessed gay with lactose intolerance. when will they let him rest????

alligator camp: the return of the pink lamborghini

wheels scathe the sun, bright

fingerprints on all the wrong pistons

black boots to scour the wetlands

looking for alligator souls

this is the one night we get rest

i stay up till 2 writing poems

about it all, about everything they say

distant lights from across the swamp

beguile us into hope, into dream

we see the pink lamborghini

our ticket to freedom

one which we can never fully grasp

Recipe: Blackberry Cobbler

Description: There’s nothing quite like it.

Game ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sugar, Blackberry(x2)

This recipe restores 175 energy and 70 health. It can be obtained from the Cooking Channel and sells for 260g.

Difficulty: Easy, 45 minutes. Serves 6.

Turns out blackberries are expensive where I live, so this recipe is a peach-blackberry cobbler. You can add other fruits like apples, plums, cherry, etc.

Filling:
-4 cups fruit: peaches (peeled and sliced) and blackberries
-½ cup brown sugar
-1 tablespoon cornstarch
-¼ teaspoon nutmeg
-¼ teaspoon cinnamon
-½ cup water
-1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Biscuit:
-1 cup flour
-2 tablespoons sugar
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-Pinch of salt
-¼ cup butter
-1 egg
-¼ cup milk

In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg, cinnamon, water, and lemon juice. Cook on medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture becomes thick and bubbly.

Add the blackberries and peaches to the sauce and mix well. Reduce the heat and cook on low for 2-3 minutes.

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a medium mixing bowl. With a pastry blender, cut in the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the egg and milk and stir until fully combined.

Pour the fruit and sauce into a medium casserole dish and spoon the biscuit mix on top. I tried to do the design as shown in the preview image from the game, but the biscuit mix is fairly thick.

Bake in a 400°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or til the top of the biscuits are dry and a light golden brown and the sauce is bubbling.

Let it cool for 5 minutes, then serve plain or with ice cream.

This recipe is hearty, sweet, and fruity. Especially good on autumn nights, but it can be eaten any time of the year.

Shrimp ‘n’ Hotroot Soup

The signature soup of otters far and wide. This recipe is rather mild, for creatures like myself that aren’t partial to hot food. But if you’re an otter, or you dare to try and be like one- be generous with the curry powder, or consider adding chopped peppers.

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 large onion, chopped

2 medium leeks, washed and chopped

1 ½ cups vegetable stock (alternatively 1 ½ cups water and ½ cube vegetable bouillon)

3 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped

1 tsp curry or chili powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

8 ounces shrimp or prawns, peeled and cooked, sliced if large

1 cup milk

In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and leeks and cook, stirring, until soft, about 5 minutes. Don’t let the vegetables brown.

Add the vegetable stock, potatoes, curry or chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer until the potatoes are very soft, 15-20 minutes.

Add the shrimp and milk and gently heat. Serve with crusty bread.

Ian McCarric had made the most expensive cheese in the Milkin’ Dairy Challenge and so made him the winner of today’s challenge!

The prize was some alone time and a nice picnic by Craigh Na’ Dun with Brighde.

It was a bit quiet in the beginning until Ian found out they had an interest in common - The Supernatural!

Ian McCarric: Have ye’ seen Loch Ness then? Living so close to the water?

Brighde McLeod: Ay, not I. But me father has!

Turned out that Brighde had a lot of interesting childhood stories to share. I only made them interact once to start off the date - but from then on it went fine on their own.
