Jazz composer and arranger Gil Evans was born on today’s date in 1912. Evans had a long and varied career but is best remembered for his three titanic collaborations with Miles Davis, namely the Columbia albums “Miles Ahead,” “Porgy And Bess,” and “Sketches Of Spain.” Today’s photo captures Gil and Miles during the recording sessions for “Porgy” in July 1958.
