Sorry about that! I'm on mobile and didn't know there was a difference in the messaging lol Question: do you know of any dupes for Too Faced "luminous peach" blush or where I could get it? A couple of years ago they had it as part of their Christmas carousel gift set and I have not been able to find it since Thank you!

Too Faced’s Luminous Peach looks like a really beautiful true peach (not too coral or orange) with light shimmer.

I’ll recommend some blushes with a similar look! :)

Shrinking Blonde's Guide to Makeup Pt. 2 (Drugstore Brands)
Not only am I a beauty junkie, I work as a style section editorial intern at a magazine which has lead to me to some amazing and some not-so-amazing product discoveries. To save you money, time, and lots of headaches, I’ve compiled a list of the best makeup I’ve tried, both luxury and drugstore brands alike.  DRUGSTORE BRANDS
  • Foundation for oily skin: Revlon Colorstay. The best drugstore foundation I’ve ever used in my life. It applies like a luxury foundation and really stays! It doesn’t make me oily, but it can be shiny so be sure to set with a powder along your t-zone.
  • Foundation for dry/regular skin: L’Oreal Lumi. It’s incredibly luminescent and sooo glow-y. It’s just gorgeous. I actually just bought this yesterday and mixed a tiny drop of this into my MUFE Mat Velvet and it brought out such an amazing glow. This stuff is a perfect dupe for Yves Saint Laurent foundation. It looks great on everyone, but I’ve noticed it looks the best on really dark skin tones. Literally it looks like you’re glowing from within. Just gorgeous.
  • Undereye concealer: Maybelline Dream Lumi. It is pretty similar to my MAC Prep + Prime stick at a fraction of the cost. They looks really great in the inner corners of eyes as well!
  • Blemish concealer: Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda. This comes in a little palette so you can treat different skin issues with ease. The really yellow stuff will neutralize dark spots, the light shade will help with redness, etc. You just need a tiny dab on your concealer brush and you can practically do your entire face in one go.
  • Eyeshadow: NYX shadows are by far the best of the drugstore lot. They are sooo silky, easy to apply, and legitimately last. There is a little bit of fallout with these shadows, but this can easily be fixed by doing your eye makeup first and then applying your foundation.
  • Eyeliner: Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner. I use this every single day of my life. There is no other. Like, skip the pencils, skip the luxury brands. Buy this. No really, BUY THIS RIGHT NOW!
  • Lipstick: Maybelline Color Whisper. These come in the prettiest shades ever and are so creamy. They don’t feather either!
  • Mascara (general): Maybelline The Rocket. This is honestly one of my favorite mascaras of all time. The brush is so perfect for strong yet soft lashes. One or two swipes is perfect for day-to-day, but layer it on for the most gooorgeous dramatic lashes of all time.
  • Blush: Milani baked blushes. I’ve only tried these a few times, but they give a really pretty flush. They’re shimmery without being to glittery, so it’s still natural-looking for day time.
  • Bronzer: Milani baked bronzers. I used this bronzer all through college and really loved it. It has the perfect flecks on gold in it, so it will flatter all skin tones. A little goes a long way, so be careful!
  • Makeup brushes: Real Techniques. A lot of professional makeup artists I know have some of these in their kits, so I went out and bought a few yesterday. I got three for like $12 and they feel like good quality. I used the blush and powder brushes today and have been really satisfied so far.

anonymous asked:

what are your makeup stables? what do you use for everyday? what do you use when you go all out? which products are your current faves?

okay full disclosure for this post - any makeup recs i make should be taken in the context that i am really, ridiculously pale. like vampire, i-can-see-your-veins, get-some-sun-miccaeli okay-mum-jesus pale.

everything but lips

  • primer - point no. 1 and we’re already hitting elf, which proves how awesome they are lmao. elf is one of those brands that has a whole lot of high end dupes at really great prices that are still pretty good products themselves. I use the elf mineral primer in clear (they do have colour correcting primers, but if you’re gonna colour correct you should probs have a dedicated product for that). garnier perfect blur is also a good buy, and it’s a bit more heavy duty but benefits porefessional is very much worth the hype. HIGH ENDsmashbox primer, bar none.
  • concealer/highlighter - i don’t use a lot of concealer but like. the under eye area is an ISSUE. i fluctuate because i haven’t found the perfect one, but i like maybelline’s fitme, even if they always market it as ‘breathable’, which is creepy and weird. nars creamy concealer is good too. for highlighter i use revlon skinlights, which is both awesomely named and legit makes you look like some kind of glittering midsummer night’s dream-esque florence and the machine otherworld creature
  • bb cream - i use bb cream instead of foundation because i hate the feel of product on my face so i like to keep it light. i use maybelline and i like garnier’s as well, though it’s veryyy drying. i’ve tried just about every bb cream under the sun so
  • blush - blush is imo probably the most versatile makeup product, because it comes in so many different forms. i tend to like liquid/gel blush the most, because i feel like it gives a more natural look than powder. i use elf blush in headliner, l’oreal bb blush, and for powder i love thebalm’s blushes both for their staying power and their bomb ass packaging (they’re in a compact mirror/case, i usually keep one in my bag), and milani baked blushes. HIGH ENDnars outlaw, dolce vita and mata hari, any benefit blush
  • brows - honestly i don’t do as much to my brows… i hate the feeling of wax on them lmao. but anastasia dipbrow is THE brow product, the nyx brow kit is also pretty good, as is benefit gimme brow/brows a go-go
  • eyeshadow - i use urban decay potion primer, but elf primer is a great, cheaper option. i also really love maybelline’s colour tattoo eyeshadows, which are a cream blend that can work on their own as eyeshow or as a base/primer. For actual eyeshadow, URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTES. I have them all and I’d say 3 is my favourite because I love the rose hues, but I probably use 2 the most, and people say it’s the most universally flattering. for day to day i love to use eyeshadow quads, because they come in complementary colours you can use for your crease/inner eye/etc without having to think about it. I use clinique (because my mum gets them in those gift bag giveaways lmao. god bless), chi chi and i have ONE chanel les 4 ombres quad that cost a frankly ridiculous amount and which i cherish accordingly. HIGH ENDLORAC PRO PALETTE. mac eyeshadow pots, and they’re not high end but i have a few barry m palettes and i love them
  • mascara - mascara is one of those things that seems pretty simple… until you start looking for colours other than black. black mascara ALWAYS ends up smudging on me and it makes me look hungover and not in a fun way, so i prefer dark/blackened brown for every day. revlon’s lash potion is awesome and i use rimmel extra super lash as well. i tend to use non-waterproof mascara because waterproof is honestly a fuckin bitch to get off. for blacks i like covergirl’s clump crusher (honestly so much of a mascara is about the brush, and covergirl always has good brushes), maybelline lash stiletto won’t give you volume but nothing beats it in length, and physican’s formula just feels nice. no high end for this cause like, it’s mascara, though i guess MUFE counts so smoky extravagant. i will say though that i think benefit they’re real is TOTALLY OVERRATED
  • eyeliner - i started using liquid eyeliner first because im one of those throw urself in the deep end ride or die bitches. the nyx curve liner is really good and is so easy to apply because of its shape, i like the elf essentials liner, and i use gels for tightlining - rimmel and australis. i have glitter eyeliners from both elf and nyx. HIGH ENDstila all day liquid liner, i know it’s hyped a LOT but honestly it deserves all the praise and more. this shit does not fucking BUDGE even if you don’t prime, it’s amazing
  • brushes - i love real techniques brushes, they’re AMAZING.

lips - another preface: as previously established i’m pale as shit, and i have cool undertones so i don’t lean towards warm/orange hued lip products. it’s all pale pinks and blue based reds for meeeee

  • lip treatments/balms - maybelline babylips are a fav, and i love their pink electro pop, but honestly once i started buying lanolips i stopped buying every other lip treatment. it is SO GOOD and i use it as a clear balm, as a base for drying creams or matte shades, you can even use it when you wake up first thing in the middle of winter and your lips are dry like the sahara. also i like lush’s lip tints, especially it started with a kiss.
  • glosses/stains - NYX BUTTER GLOSSES. OH MY GOD, THEY ARE SO FUCKING UNREAL they all smell like birthday cake? some kind of sugary baked product and the colour range is sooo good and they’re completely buildable, from sheer to solid AND THEY LAST FOR AGES honestly go right now and buy twenty. revlon’s whole line of stains/balms/clinique rip off sticks are AWESOME. HIGH END ysl glossy stains. l’oreal makes a pretty good dupe but honestly you buy one of the ysl ones and it’s like shooting yourself in the foot because YOU CAN’T GO BACK. as always, i go for blue based reds, like rouge goache.
  • liquid lipstick/creams/lacquers/WHY ARE THERE SO MANY KINDS OF LIP PRODUCTS - this probably didn’t need its own section but honestly i just wanted to rec NYX LIP CREAMS, which in this stupidly long makeup rec post could be my favourite product. they’re named after cities (which makes no difference to the product. i just love it) and they come in heaps of different colours/shades, and these things FUCKING. STAY. they’re a pretty dry formula but they are NOT BUDGING FOR ANYTHING. you can eat and it’ll still be perfect after, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. i have almost every colour lmao. for liquid lipsticks i like elf’s, which are dupes of stila, and rimmel apocalips lip lacquers.

lipstick lmao this is ridiculous, i know

My makeup yesterday. Really went crazy with the color combinations to match my shirt, it kind of reminded me of watercolor paintings. Used sugarpill for the eyes, milani for the cheeks, and lime crime’s wicked for the lips

2farfromperfect  asked:

can you recommend a blush/ contour powder that looks great on nw55 (MAC) skin?

Sure! :)

For blushes I’d recommend shades like

MAC Breath Of Plum

Loreal True Match Blush in Spice Plum (they make a few shades great for deeper skin tones!)

Milani Baked Blush in Fantastico Mauve

For contour shades i’d recommend using a concealer, foundation or face powder a few shades darker than your foundation or some products like

MAC Blunt

Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation in Espresso

Guerlian Terracotta Bronzer in shade 8

Covergirl Queen Bronzer in Ebony Bronze

“Makeup Starter Haul”

Rite Aid:
•Rimmel Stay Matte powder- $5.69

(couldn’t find pricing for makeup sponge but it was from CVS so prolly cheap. The angled brush with spoolie I took from a dip brow product from Ardell so idk the price bc it came as a kit.)

Overall a good haul. I would recommend drugstores for anyone starting in hauling. These were concealed in my pockets and my inner pockets on my jacket. Wasn’t dressed too fancy or too casual but well put together. I lifted with my friend and she got her own stuff that’s not pictured. CVS and Rite Aid are my favorites to lift from bc there’s no camera on the makeup aisle and the SA’s mind their business. Being nice is key!!!

My makeup for today. Wanted to try out some of my new makeup goodies I got for christmas and this was the look I came up with. I used the sephora and pantone marsala palette and a little bit of lime crime for the eyes, milani for the cheeks, and kat von d’s studded kiss lipstick in the shade gothica for the lips (I will be posting everything I got for christmas tomorrow, my last items will be in by then :D  )

Back To School Must Haves : Makeup Products (All Drugstore)

I cannot believe summer is over, I am personally very sad/anxious. I go back to school & start back working next Monday and I know its going to be a struggle getting back into that routine that I have been out of for 3 months. I’m preparing to be more than overwhelmed seeing as how I will be in school full time & working full time! I usually bounce back pretty fast so hopefully I have a decent transition *fingers crossed* I enjoyed my much needed time off, but its time to get back to it.

ANYWAYS, I asked you all if you wanted to see a Back To School post and many of you said that you did so thats what I am here to do for you all.  Now if I am going to be honest, when it comes to makeup. I wear very little to no makeup going to class. I have to take very early classes to be able to get to work on time in the afternoon so I don’t usually feel like doing my makeup in the mornings, but if I do I keep it light and fresh. This post is going to feature all drugstore products so everything is affordable :)

Now if I do take the time to do my makeup I really focus on my face. My face is my favorite part of doing my makeup, and for those early mornings it’s going to really help you look awake. You wanna make sure that before doing any kind of makeup application that you have properly cleaned and moisturized the skin.

Face Products (Foundation):

L'oreal True Match: I like this foundation because it is lightweight and not a foundation that’s too heavy for school. There is a wide shade selection so any complexion & undertone can find a foundation that looks right on them. If you have dry skin I recommend using the True Match Lumi.

External image

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation: This is GREAT for those of you who have oily skin, this foundation is so beautiful on the skin. It gives a good amount of coverage and keeps you matte for quite some time. I like that this doesn’t look cakey on your skin, and it looks so natural. The key for makeup is to help it enhance your natural beauty.

External image

Garnier BB Cream: I am beyond obsessed with this product right now, I have been wanting to play with BB creams for so long now but BB creams tend to run very light and have no decent shade selections. I love this BB cream, they have four shades and deep is the shade that works for me. This product is pretty full coverage but looks SO natural. You can’t even feel this product on the face, this is going to for sure be my go to product for school this year. If you have combo to oily skin, make sure you get the combo to oily skin formula. If you are dry make sure you get the regular formula.

External image

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: This concealer is very nice, this is very similar to the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer which I love but is expensive and this is a really nice cheaper alternative!

External image

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer: Love this, the shade selection isn’t the best but the darkest shade in this range is wearable enough for me to use as an under eye highlight which I loved. This covers darkness underneath the eye area really well which will be essential waking up at the butt crack of dawn for school :)

External image

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: Very inexpensive and does exactly what it claims. It helps take away any shine off of the face and keep you matte which is an oily girls dream.

External image

ELF Blush Palette: I don’t necessarily think blush is always needed for school, but I really do like the ELF blush palette. This here is only $6 and you get 4 very pigmented blushes. This blend so well, and I love the finish of them. They come in two palettes: Light & Dark but I love them both, and I wanna get my hands on the light palette.

External image

ELF HD Blushes: Cream products are very ideal when it comes to makeup because I feel cream products look the most natural on the skin. I love ELF cream blushes because they are so pigmented & only $3 these blushes last forever on the skin, and come in such beautiful shades. Just be careful because I promise a little tea size amount will take you a long way.

External image

Milani Baked Blushes: I have to mention these because they are freaking amazing. I LOVE these blushes, they give such a gorgeous sheen to the cheeks. I usually am not for shimmery blushes, and when you first glance at these they look shimmery as hell but the sheen they put on the cheeks is just perfect.

External image

Rimmel Stay Blushed: Another cream blush that I LOVE these are so pigmented and creamy and give such a healthy look to the skin when these are on. Plus I think these were around $2 which makes my bank account smile :) Apricot Glow is the perfect everyday blush!

NYC Sunny: This bronzer isn’t for me seeing as how its not dark enough for me but I have used this on others and it looks really good. This is really good for contouring and adding some more color to your skin. This bronzer is a pretty good dupe for Benefit Hoola, not an exact dupe but probably the closest that you will get.

External image

ELF Contour/Blush Palette: I only use these for the bronzers, but I love these they have several different palettes for a variety of skintones. I love Turks & Caicos and use it daily.

External image

Milani Brow Kit: If I’m not wearing any makeup I usually always do my brows though because I have the ultimate struggle brows but I love doing my brows because I really feel as though they shape the face. I love this milani brow kit for filling in the brows, and making them look natural and not harsh. It comes with two brow powder, I recommend using the lighter powder for the inner part of your brow, and then using the darker powder on the outer half of the brow to help that the brows look as natural as possible.

External image

NYC Brow Pencils: I love to use a pencil to outline the shape of my brow and then go in with a powder to fill in my brows. This pencil is really good to use to get a nice define brow look.

External image

Maybelline Eye Studio Quads: Now I don’t necessarily think that eyeshadow is necessary and I usually don’t wear it but if you do wanna wear eyeshadows I recommend these. They are some of my favorites at the drugstores they are so pigmented and blend amazingly. Plus all of their quads have such pretty eyeshadows.

External image

NYX Single Eyeshadows: I love NYX they make some really good quality makeup for great prices. I love their single eyeshadows, which many are MAC shade dupes. Usually if see an eye shadow at MAC you can usually find a shade that is the exact same or very similar from NYX.

External image

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner: Love this, I like to use this on my waterline because I have really watery eyes and anything can make my eyes water and this does not budge or smear.

External image

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliners: I love these so much because these eyeliners are so soft, creamy, and pigmented so they don’t tug or pull on your eyes.

External image

L'oreal Slim Eyeliner Pen: This is a liquid eyeliner that is a pen form, which I think makes it more easier to work with. I love how black this eyeliner is remember ( the blacker the better ;) )

External image

L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black: One of my favorites mascaras hands down, and one of the best at the drugstore. I love how black these make my lashes, and unlike many mascaras that claim to give volume this mascara actually gives my lashes tons of volume.

External image

Maybelline The Rocket Mascara: An oldie but a goodie here, I love this mascara this really lengthens my lashes and makes my lashes look like I have falsies on when I really don’t.

External image

NYX Butter Glosses: I think yall knew this one was coming lol I LOVE these. I wear these ALL the time, and I love all of the shades & how creamy these are. These are the perfect go to lip glosses for school.

External image

Revlon Lip Butters: These are another favorite lip products of mine from the drugstore, these are so moisturizing & many of these lip butters give really good amounts of color to the lips. I can’t really describe the formula of these but its basically like a lipstick & lip gloss mixed together. its perfect.

External image

NYX Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippies:  These are basically tinted lip balms, and I love how these feel on the lips & the color they give off is really nice more than I would expect. These give off the perfect color: not too much & not too little.

External image

ELF Tinted Lip Conditioners: OBSESSED. I don’t know how I wasn’t living with these in my life before but I love these. They smell so good & the texture of these are perfect. I love the color payoffs which makes these perfect for a nice everyday lip.

External image

So that is it! I hope you guys found this somewhat informative, and you have an idea on what makeup would suit you best for school. I hope you all have a great school year!

This is my typical everyday makeup look.
#1— Bare face, wet hair.

#2— Pixi Poreless Primer all over; Make Up For Ever full cover concealer in no. 4 applied under eyes, on eyelids, sides of nose, and on blemishes; clear Vaseline on lips.
