WINOL - Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric: Trial by Error
Eddie Jones and I went up to Southwark Crown Court in London to report on the court case concerning Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric being charged with tax evasion. It was the 13th day of the trial and although a verdict wasn’t guaranteed, it was expected. At WINOL, we record an ‘as live’ bulletin at 3pm, so for us to get our story in on time it was imperative that the verdict come through at least a couple of hours before then, otherwise it couldn’t be edited and put together into a package in time. Fortunately, the verdict came through a little before midday which gave us at least some time to record both Mandaric and Redknapp’s statements and Eddie’s piece to camera. We had to use a little handi-cam to shoot with as the Sony PD170s record on tape and our time constraints meant that we had to digitally upload our footage direct to the internet for the newsroom to edit. And even then we knew it would be touch and go to make the bulletin.
